My understanding is that the original team that worked on Insurgency was laid off and replaced three years ago and that just came to light with all of the recent news. The team that replaced them was put there to pump out DLC, which is why the game broke every time they updated it. They didn't know what they were doing. Did I misunderstand the situation or was someone speculating and passing it off as fact?

Bought this thing at launch, played like absolute crap if I remember correctly. But just recently gifted it to a friend during Steam Winter Sale and we've been having a blast with it, to be honest. This is what call of duty should be by now! The graphics, the atmosphere, the brutality and absolute insanity is just one of a kind! Hope it doesn't die!!

Love this games broad spectrum of playstyles in its different gamemodes. Truly one of a kind. Want a more realistic COD/BATTLEFIELD? Domination and push are there for you Want a more slow realistic team and communication based experience? PVE hardcore checkpoint And there is still many other game modes i didnt mention with special limited time game modes every once in awhile

l played og insurgency back when totalbiscuit made his video about it and loved it.. didn't get sandstorm on release cause I was playing classic wow at the time and my pc couldn't handle it anyways. Picked it up this sale with a friend, but it's really hard to get him to play it for long. While the shooting mechanics are simple, maps are too huge, there's no minimap or enemy indicators and all buildings are unique instead of copy paste, making it very hard and frustrating to learn. He doesn't know the chokepoints where enemies come from, it takes forever to get accustomed to a map because of the map vote after every match. I'm over 50h into the game and I'm enjoying it, slowly starting to learn the maps etc. My friend sorta quit tho we are back to playing counter strike now since he's tired of being shot by enemies he can't even see on maps he doesn't know. Add on top of that the complete lack of skill based match balancing and you've got yourself a very hard game to get into bare the most masochistic of us.

The biggest issue is not the Embracer Group, it's the owners of Insurgency selling full rights to their own company. No respect for your own creation, not just the game itself This is not the first time, they shut down first Insurgency project instantly after they got they shifted to Sandstorm. It was getting constant updates and boom, complete abandonment. Then they sold the rights. Disgusting behavior of owners of NWI.

This happened, in one way or another, to Infinity Ward around the time of MW (2007) and MW2. I remember how utterly shocking IW became when more and more Activision Blizzard suits got involved. Never bought another COD after that. I don't understand why companies would take on a successful brand and then let it fall into ignominy. Financial engineering, I suppose - learning how to make money from other people's money, ie, get nothing for nothing.

Insurgency sandstorm is excellent. Unfortunately the competitive ranked side of the game failed due to the game having lots of bugs and poor optimization. They should bring it back now that the game plays well

Embracer is a company that just want to make money, but will stick to the law about their obligations to deliver what was announced. Last update announced 3 more updates, with also a year pass being sold for the extra skins. Embracer will put minimum service for delivering this announced content but I’m pretty sure they will abandon the game after. But I wouldn’t put my expectations too high. Latest updates were not as inspired as the first ones. I think this game is pretty much « done ». There is little room for extra weapons and novel features. This game needs however fixes and rebalances but this kind of updates are not as shinny as novel content. The only thing they can emphasize as novel content are maps, and eventually game modes. But for weapons, we are at a point where adding more will render some guns useless (like the m320 and m79 from last update) and others too good (like semi or full auto shotguns if they dare to add them…)

I was quite surprised, when I saw the Year-3-Pass and bought it immediately. The content of the last Operation was kinda meh. For future updates I hope for more Maps. Still waiting for a forest map (like in Insurgency). Remakes of old maps would be great, too.

@@JereZiii no it isn’t a thing. Not that I know of. They always stated that they will work on it after the next gen update but things aren’t looking well. Cross gen is a thing, meaning people on ps5 can play with people on ps4 and people on xbox one can play with those on series x. But with the next gen update this is soon to change which is another concern of mine because they will be splitting the player base when next gen releases and there aren’t a lot of console players to begin with. Last I heard they are building the next gen from the ground up which I also think implies that it’s a completely different game and cross gen will be eliminated. I hope the next gen player base is healthy as hard as it is to get next gen consoles. Also for cross play to properly work a friends list would be needed. If not included, individuals will not be able to link up with friends on other platforms and would have to rely getting into games with each other through random chance defeating the purpose of introducing a feature. So why even waste precious resources and man power that they have little of on such a thing if a in games friends list won’t be added? They already committed to making next gen and people are expecting it so unfortunately I don’t think they can cancel the project even if it’s a wise choice to do so as it would stir quite the uproar on console. They are already balls deep. I don’t mean to sound demanding. I just don’t know if NWI realizes the gravity of what they are promising. It seems like a lot for such a tiny studio that now has recently had lay offs. They have quite the undertaking and I wish them the best moving forward. I honestly think they might try to wrap up the game after next gen and focus on their next project, which is sad but may be the smartest move for them. There will maybe be a hot fix but I wouldn’t expect a content update after next gen releases. To put it quite frankly, despite NWI not being shut down, they are in a pickle. We should expect development on insurgency sandstorm and other projects to be slowed down. Their next project may never see the light of day, who knows. I think they know this and are beginning to embrace these challenges moving ahead. They will not announce it though which is their decision. I know they might even be regretting even releasing a console port to be honest. They didn’t anticipate these challenges. I feel for them and I hope them the best. The console community are relentless on Twitter, understandably, but I don’t think they realize what NWI are facing.

I've been playing Insurgency Sandstorm for like 4 years and it was a blast, tons of awesome realistic action and all, it was fun but then I suddently felt it was all getting too repeatitious for me, going through the same maps and doing the very same things in the same way using the same guns so it started to feel kind of almost boring and pointless to play it anymore so I decided to ditch the game and move on to other video games I have, I hope the original devs of this incredible game would be able to give us a sequel for Insurgency Sandstorm so then it would all get to be even more realistic and amazing with next next gen graphics of like UE5.4 + and advanced physics and animations and everything, that would be even more amazing, especially if they would decide to add more driveable vehicles to use in a grand battle (so more like battlefield), I know its not the core gameplay style of Insurgency Sandstorm but still, even if they would create such game which would be having the great awesome style and qualities of Insurgency Sandstorm but only with a twist to its style to be more like battlefield then it would take things to the next level and would make it all much more amazing (using the latest tech possible and game engine of Unreal)

IDGAF how many of my friends still play COD, this game has the potential of being better than COD and battlefield. I'm playing IS on Xbox, and I know the PC version has SO much more material, Maps, attachments, guns etc. than consoles, But I want the consoles to get all that PC's got too. I hope that is one of the next steps for this game. It's too good to let go and there has to be enough investors out there to team up and see this game get its real BIG break. COD is so stupid now people have to be looking for another game.

Can't wait for the fanmade mod version of the game on some other engine just to keep it alive and go full circle making a mod of a standalone release of a remake of an original release based on a source mod. Then we'll get a full release of that but it will be open source this time and community made. Because we all know this will happen, game is way too unique to die, so maybe not now, but in the upcoming years we know it gonna happen. I mean hell have y'all seen all the Tarkov clones out there and some being decent, and Operation Harsh Doorstop as a middle finger to Squad and it's recent messups? Why would this be different? It's a beloved game and the fans will make it live on. I mean hell, why not make an Insurgency mode inside of OHD even. 🤷‍♂️🤣

Embracer Group is not a cancer of a company. They have solid ownership and leaders and for anyone who knows anything about the gaming industry you would know their heavy acquisition strategy is very sensitive towards highers interest rates. What exactly makes the company cancer for shutting down underperforming studios? They have also funded so many amazing indie games keeping them from not dying like Valheim for example.
