Try (or at least JUST LOOK IT UP) a game called "Red Faction: Guerilla", and how it's physics are kinda a bit better suited for buildings, even not being voxel-based. And then look up release date of that game.

If detailed physics interactions are your thing, you might wanna try Noita. It's 2D so not as immersive as this but the physics are even better in a few ways.

Another game I’d recommend if you like taking things apart is Hardspace Shipbreaker. Haven’t played it myself yet, but you’re a spaceship salvager, cutting apart ships, in space with all the lack of gravity that entails.

Blast Corps on the N64 was a destruction simulator that came out in '97. If you wanted Destruction during the PS2 and even PS3 era, then the Red Fraction series was all about that.

Saw Dreagast play this, love physic games like this. He found out that those giant towers can be brought down but you need to break them higher up like almost half way up the thing because for some reason some of the blocks are just locked in mid air.

Definitely a different game than I was expecting. thought it would be more like angry birds or something where maybe you are given a certain number of explosives/traps and see how much damage you could do to a building in one go. Red Faction Guerrilla Re-mars-tered has a fair bit of this sort of destruction especially the challenge bits. Overall it's an ok FPS but the destruction really made it; worth a look sometime maybe.

Would be interesting to see speed runs of this game. Two different types could be interesting too, one where it counts total time, and another where it only counts the mission time on the timed objectives. Could be interesting to see people do a bunch of groundwork to really streamline their path between objectives.
