I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

Hey Matt, ever try to rig the TRD first, then leave the Silkie back on the bend of the jig hook? That way the flair of the silk would happen more off the bottom where it would be more visible.

Them little details and unique lures sometimes make a big difference, especialy on pressured fish, again a great piece of advice there Matt! I keep my jig trimmings and poke them through on swimbaits and sometimes ned rigs, making fin-like appendages. It bulks up the presentation from the top or bottom view. Slows the fall of the bait too if you put more than a couple strands in!

Wonderful stuff!!!!! I love modifying finesse baits!! Here’s 1 to try Matt…once rigged, pierce the tip of the Zman TRD with a nail or anything you can. Then run a Zonker strip thru the hole you just made. It gives a very fluid motion and new look to Ned.

The little things somehow always make a big difference! This is similar to the modification that you did awhile ago with the bobber stops and the small willowleaf blade setup that you shared before, it justs adds some more to it just enough to make a difference. I bet that if this bobber stop and willowleaf blade combo is added to a swimbait using one of your core tackle rigs would be a good setup to try, just a thought. Thanks Matt for sharing this with us!!

Im not the biggest user of a ned rig because we have so much timber on Toledo and Rayburn but I've actually trimmed up a punch skirt and done this exact thing. Im on a time share up in Hot Springs Arkansas on Lake Hamilton and I go every year but thats really the only time i throw a ned rig but i got the idea from a local throwing a ned rig and the plastic had little tentacles... i didt have any of those but ive got a bunch of punch skirts. Youre probably not going to get the exact same effect as this but punch skirts are probably easier to find for us down here... LOL Great video as always keepem coming brother!!!
