Garret, I totally relate to the no sleep issue that you are having and here's my opinion. After many years working at the same job for the same small business, grinding everyday and trying my hardest, I actually just bought the business. It's a huge undertaking and one of the most exciting things i've ever done. I see a parallel (although on a much smaller scale than you) with what you are accomplishing with GoodGood. The nights are filled with thoughts of what I can do to make the business stronger, to improve the lives of the employees, to listen to the pulse of the community, and build a business that will flourish for years to come. You and all the members of your click have had such great success, and the lack of sleep is your mind telling yourself that you are not through succeeding. You all have provided so much for your community, and I can see how eager you are to continue ascending to a place greater than any of you imagined was possible just a few years ago. Sleep doesn't come easy for people who love being awake. I wish you all the greatest success, and when you are ready... the sweetest slumber

The short miss was another case of the putter almost stopping at contact rather than flowing about the same distance backstroke/follow-through. Great video!
@Stakex2 жыл бұрын
Ideally your follow through should, in most cases, be longer than your backswing... not the same length. On Tour for example the average player's putting backswing is 35% the length of their follow through. Another way to think about it, and this is how Mickelson taught putting in his short game video, is the 25/75 method. The Backswing should be 25% of the stroke, while the follow through should be 75%.
@Reffitt22 жыл бұрын
This is certainly true. I personally have always thought Garrett's putting stroke was super quick and "jerky" but he usually putts much better. Putting is so much of a confidence driven thing is funny. Smooth stroke and follow through to finish.

Yo Garrett I struggle with sleep as well. Routine sleep schedule is the key unfortunately. Highly suggest the Mathew Walker podcast on JRE. Melatonin will assist in getting your circadian rhythm back on track. If it’s worry or work, meditation exercises are helpful to quiet the mind. Try to go to sleep at 9pm regularly and hope for 10-11 in the short-term.

Garrett. Either cut out screen time 2 hours before bed. Or invest in some blue light glasses to filter out the blue light. Our brain cannot decipher between blue light and sunlight so screens suppress the production of melatonin (sleep hormone) in the evening. I genuinely noticed a difference since I started wearing them after sunset - i get a lot more yawny than before. Hope this helps.

There's a few things you can do to fall asleep. I had terrible sleep issues and they would get worse, especially when our events were getting closer and closer. The following all made a dramatic difference. 1. No electronics 60 min before bed, make sure temp is between 65 and 67 2. black out room and use white noise, or use earplugs and eye mask 3. Lay in bed and belly breathe. Countdown 100-0 then 30 to 0. Each inhale is 1 count, each exhale is 1 count. visualize each number. 4. Take an ice bath, start with 10 min and work up to 20 5. get a weighted blanket. 6. get a whoop strap so you can track you sleep time and quality The sleep deprivation issues will start to take a massive toll the more it lacks.

Garrett, you may want to be a little cautious with that insomnia. It sounds like you're drifting into overdrive. At your age, it may take a while before anything serious occurs, however, consider giving it a complete media cold turkey for a week. Just step off the pedal for a while. No smartphone, no golf, no hanging out with the boys. Just sit and listen to nature. You'll soon feel just how tensed up you are. Get a break bro. And come back all new and fresh.

Can someone explain why Garrett didn’t hit a provisional on the first hole after his mis-hit? This also seems to happen in a lot of their other videos too, as well as other golf channels on YT. After the fact he says that he would have to be hitting 3 from the tee, but unless my understanding of golf rules is incorrect, he could have hit a provisional (being that he knew he was NOT in a hazard) and hit 3 from where his provisional would have been?

If you haven't tried melatonin for sleep, there's no down-side to giving it a try (cheap, very rare side effects, no prescription required). It can help in your specific circumstance (unable to fall asleep). Get chewable or dissolve-under-tongue kind and don't take it until you're ready for lights-out, i.e. don't use phone while waiting for it to kick in, because it works fast and doesn't last long, need to be asleep before it wears off. Any light on yer eyeballs counteracts it; it's that weak but might be just enough.
