THIS Is The MASSIVE PIER FISH I've Been Looking For!

Over the past few pier/jetty/inlet fishing trips I've been looking for one particular massive pier fish! By the end of the video I can honestly say THIS was the fish I was looking for. I also run into many other aggressively feeding inlet fish like Jack crevalle and witness some massive goliath grouper get caught by other fisherman.

I fish a lot at the Parker River NWR up here in Mass. I bought a National Parks Senior Pass when I lived in Florida, saves me $5 a trip. The pass was incredibly cheap and it doesn't expire until I do.

I found out a way to get throat hooked fish unhooked without any harm from a guide recently. Use two dehookers and one goes in the bend of the hook and the other pushes down on the shank and you can lever it out easily.

@@laneromancky5538 There we’re only a handful of lures I needed. Zara Spook in some kind of Shad or chrome finish, Heddon Baby Torpedo in the same colors, 1/8-1/4 ounce Cotee Jig, with the stingray aka grub tail in root beer or chartreuse sparkle, Gold Johnson Sprite spoon in 1/4 ounce, and 7M21 and 7M24 Mirrolures. The Cotees I ran on 10 pound mono, but the others I ran on 14 pound mono and if I was somewhere I’d expect to find snook, I’d run a 30 pound leader. I used mostly 6.5-7’ medium-medium heavy bait casting and spinning gear. At the inlets I’d use heavier gear. Like the video shows…

Looks busy. Im having a great bite here in south Tx. We dont get many snook but the bulls are on fire. Still trying to get a 50" but had a 49". Jacks are good and smacks. When the jetties get frantic its hard to beat. But never liked pier fishing. Just so awkward and pain to bring good fish in.

what’s ur go to braid? i just put 40lb j braid on my new 200 and it’s had a few wind knots already. power pro has been my usual but wanted to branch out. thanks
@RyanMorie
@RyanMorie 2 жыл бұрын
I use almost everything. On spinning gear I’ve moved to anything in an 8 strand. For me the differences between most braids is minimal. Van Staals are very easy to overspool especially if spooled on a machine, so it’s possible that’s where your wind knots came from. Otherwise might just be from things like fishing a plug into the wind with brand new braid.

How would you compare the size of the saltist bg to a 5000 stradic fj
@RyanMorie
@RyanMorie 2 жыл бұрын
The Daiwa 5000 is significantly bulkier in the body and I think around 3 ounces heavier. It’s for sure a larger reel but definitely has some more line capacity and more overall cranking power.
