this is actually how i got into invasions, though. The multiplayer item i found first was the tongue after beating the red guy to death with my club, and then I ran through almost the whole game on my first playthrough with tt on, until I found the volcano manor. I didn't even finish the main game before i became an invasion addict

This story is eerily similar to my own present experience. I was playing Co-op, getting invaded, and getting destroyed. But after a bit, I started really enjoying getting invaded. Pretty soon my friends and I would turn on taunter's tongue as we played the game just because it was fun. But I wanted more action, so I started ganking at Agheell Lake North with my friends. I did that for a few days, but started enjoying it solo more. At one point, I had over a 10 win streak soloing invaders. I went to the coliseum about a week ago and have been seeing steady improvement. I still love duo taunter's tongue. The 2v2s are amazing. Taking 4 attempts to get a single grace ahead has made the game incredibly rewarding again after 500 hours. I've also done some invasions, and I'm starting to want to do more of those. I get that ganking is shitty, that's why I don't do it anymore. But those wins were genuinely good for my confidence and my enjoyment of pvp. I don't think I'd be where I am now without that.

Back in the day, i was a ganker. Now i revel in taking down 3 people. Love watching the host sperg when i put away both phantoms. I use my taunters tongue to do 2v2 in dlc dungeons and thats been some of the most fun ive ever had. The white mask bull goat rivers of blood moonveilers are not my people

@happygoons500 shadowkeep church district is my number one favorite spot. But I had a lot of fun in belurat also in that little stretch before the divine beast, with the bridge and the hornsent mages on it. And darklight is just a freakin thrill. Midras manse is where I'm headed next in this playthrough after jagged peaks, and I haven't done much pvp there because I just am looking forward to fighting bayle again

what made you want to gank in the first place? genuinely curious of the psychology. did you believe that invaders were a lot more tryhard and cheesy and it was only fair? or did you get some kind of satisfaction from overpowering them?

@BM-pt6sy no, just playing with my brothers and we would just farm souls like that, my older brother is very much a "my life depends on winning" type, with bullgoat and duel bolts of gransax lol. and i was ignorant to the reality of it until I started watching all the invader youtubers so I tried it and was like yo wtf I lived this way? I was a shitter and I didn't even know it.

Someone who has willingly ganked before and does it regularly simply will never have any sort of empathy or honor to reflect on any of these points. They are seriously not the same as us. The concept of sportsmanship or fairness is totally pointless and unknown to them. The idea of "fostering a fun environment for everyone involved" is way too alien and empathetic for gankers. People genuinely believe that just because a player is red and they "invade" other people's game, they are evil. While yes most invaders won't be any different than the average toxic player who just wants to win no matter what, people don't understand that invading is literally the most pro-social thing you can do in this game. More so than being a phantom who believes they are saving the poor hosts from the bad red man by brutally overpowering the player who's just looking for a more social way to have fun with the game's mechanics against an adversary with actual human brains. As an invader, you're providing entertainment to everyone involved, especially when noobs get the drop on you and win. They revel in that. Whenever I see 3 coopers teabag my body because their L2 blender worked, I remind myself that they had fun and are probably laughing with their friends at that moment. Even though they are dumb cowards it still gives me joy knowing I have caused some unpredictable fun in their playthrough.

I've pretty much always used the Tongue alone: I want to have essential an older invasion experience that I can somewhat control. I'd always clear the levels in DS3 before I got many invasions, so with the open world often being always open to invasions, I am able to have invaders come in while I'm farming for consumables or just ambling around. I wish it didn't matter if the bosses were alive or not, so that way I can always go back for dungeon invasions or go through the legacy dungeons again: something like seeing how far I can get with no rests and a stream of invaders coming in.

I also do this and we are the minority. Most just think Taunters Tongue users are ganking shitters but I'm not like that at all. I mostly do 1v1/2v2s when I have the Tongue on.

I use taunters tongue solo… just in principle I refuse to invade!!! Until they make is so you can co-invade to 3-2 … I don’t gank because 90% of invaders suck anyway and just spam the new op weapons

I'm invader. I was bored and i started playing the game in PvE, in solo, with the tongue active all the time. I really enjoyed that, so i started a new game under the same conditions, here's my experience: At very low level i was bullied several times by overleveled red phantoms with rot, poison and others cheap stuffs that at early levels are letal. At intermediate it was good! It's like PvP with benefits because you can also to explore in the meantime. I recommend it! Just be carefull to quick level up by the time you get the +8 rapier from Rogier 👍🏼

The best way to use the TT is to have the white cipher ring on. When you get an invader, stall or survive until you get a blue. Then wait for the invader to get a buddy. Sever out any other allies

I’ve been getting a lot better at pvp recently. I used to only duel and help people with bosses and now for a month or so I primarily invade. I’d say a combination of practice and watching loads of videos.

when I was playing seamless with my friend and we decided to turn on PVP and fight each other I was hooked. it was more fun than any boss fight or playing against any type of AI and it wasn't long until it felt like fast paced chess. ever since then I've been pvping a lot more than any type of PVE. We spent hours into the morning just PVPing and getting better. I only started getting truly good when I started a fight club and dueling more people, ones that are better than me.
