Spider-Man's stage is just beautiful, the way it reflects the New York City skyline, using opaque windows to transition from afternoon to evening to nighttime.
@carlosaugusto98214 ай бұрын
@@npc5983 And the stages are the best of the franchise too. XvSF also has some good ones, but MSH is just stacked of only top tier ones and is a little above. Capcom never made something like that spetacular Wolverine stage ever again, that is remarkable not only in Marvel series history but in the history of 2d fgs as a whole.

They kept the art 100% true to the comics nothing tampered with. The chars are exactly as you’d imagine them to look in a fighting game. All hand drawn just fckn beautiful.

I really miss that, because 3D backgrounds sometimes mesh with characters and powers
Old fighting games had so much more personality than they have now. Now they try to make them as cinematic as possible. Which by itself is not a bad thing but by design it's being so over-used that they sucked the enjoyment out of it. They should make characters grunt like this now.

One of the best parts of the FGC is when two players can have mutual respect, therefore both improving their skill set with an heir of positivity and utter joy. It's just so satisfying when it's nothing but love, and both players can geek out over stuff the other is doing and vice versa without rage or hostility. To me, that is the true spirit of the FGC: when two players can be both ops and allies at the same time, popping off over cool maneuvers and new strats together. Justin carries that energy with these videos. It's a beautiful thing.

Some of those old stages were pretty nice. Especially the elevator with the skyline visible for the 2nd half of the fight.
@carlosaugusto98214 ай бұрын
All MSH stages are incredibly well done for that time, and better than later MvC stages. It was the period of wanting to flex your ability to push the artistic quality of your games, besides just the usual progressive gameplay refinement. Capcom in Marvel and Darkstalkers... SNK in Fatal Fury, Samsho, and KOF, etc... Making highly detailed 2d stages does no help to the gameplay improvement, it just increases costs and makes the devs' workload worse. Also those franchises had yearly schedule and mostly didn't recycle stages (unlike SF2 revisions). So they were just passionate and wanted to show their 2d skills, and show how much their new technology surpassed SF2.

Presentation style, artwork quality, stage design quality, and stage details never surpassed in later Marvel games. XvSF and MvC1 artwork is also good, but they dropped the level a little bit in other aspects. And MvC2 dropped a lot in stages... The MSH stages are the best in the franchise and among the best in the whole history of 2d/sprites fgs. At the same time, so fortunate and so unfortunate that Capcom managed to peak in stage design so early in fg history.

@@carlosaugusto9821well, CPS2 only had but so much storage. This and COTA maxed it out. And performance wise, the VS. games had to do more than both of them.
