I don't care what anyone says: Black Knight is an early 2000s underrated classic. The way Martin carries this film is amazing, nobody else would have made the concept of this film work. His comedic genius just makes it all go. Between Nothing To Lose and Black Knight, idk which one is more underrated lol

Black Knight is loosely based on Mark Twain's A Connecticut Yankee In King Arthur's Court 🧐 I enjoy this take on it, and Martin looks like he's having a lot of fun. For an earlier Martin comedy - Nothing To Lose 1997 If you haven't seen him in the Bad Boys films, he's also really good in those.

History Geek Alert!! From what I can surmise is that the medieval setting is based on the story of the English Princess Mathilde of Normandy who never sat on the throne securely and was overthrown twice by her French cousin Count Stephen of Blois. He was eventually defeated by Mathilde's son Henry II of England who forced him to disown his own sons and name him heir to the throne. Victoria was a 19th Century Queen of Great Britain so the characters in the movie are fictitious but the events march that of Mathilde's civil war.

The architecture, instruments, etc. Moors are also the reasons who know who Greek philosophers were, they built universities and libraries and taught Europes and how to read and write.
