It's not only that, he obviously got some other skills as well. He managed to secure a deal with A.S.O., the organizers of the Tour de France, La Vuelta and many other big races. Kudos to him and A.S.O. for making this possible. If IOC or UCI was owning the rights for these races - we probably would have never seen any of this.

agreed! what's funny is my parents think LR is a super bland commentator who doesn't speak clearly, slurs his words and only cares about nerdy shit.... but for them cycling pretty much begins and ends with the grand tours, so they don't really know shit lmao
@chrisko64392 жыл бұрын
@@ianism3 I love LR's stuff, but your parents do have a point. We don't have to see it their way, but there's room in this world for their point of view. They want to follow cycling in a more superficial manner, and that's fine. Also, for listeners like me, who aren't native English speakers, it can be difficult at times to understand what LR is saying. Yesterday, I couldn't make out if he was saying "full vile" or "for Vine" ;)

Vine is on flying form. Quickstep will benefit from vine continuing to get into breaks since Vine in the break will threaten top 10, 5, and podium spots before he threatens Evenepoel. Letting Vine in the break will be a cheeky way of goading Jumbo, Ineos and Bora into pacing allowing Quickstep to save themselves for the climb. A break won't cooperate with Vine on the flats now, but Vine is fine with break getting caught since he can win from GC group and can call his companions bluff if they don't cooperate. If the cards align right and vine keeps his form a podium isn't out of the question.

There is a rule that groups are only split after 3 seconds on mountain top finishes.
@andrasszabo15702 жыл бұрын
The rule is there have to be 1 full second between two riders to be given a different time. Even in this very stage there are less than 3 sec differences between riders. Eg. 27 HARPER Chris Jumbo-Visma 3:32 28 SÁNCHEZ Luis León Bahrain - Victorious ,, 29 PADUN Mark EF Education-EasyPost 3:34
@helvettefaensatan2 жыл бұрын
This means that if there is a group in front of you that has intervals between each rider of less than three seconds, and you loose three seconds to the last of that group, everybody in front of you get the same time as the leader of their group and you get your own time when you cross the line. Let's say rider no 1 finishes first, rider no 2 who finishes one second after, gets same time. Rider no 3 finishes two seconds after leader, one second after previous rider, still in group, gets same time. This continues down to rider no 8 who finishes seven seconds after the leader, within three seconds of the rider in front, and gets the same time. You, however, finish four seconds after the previous rider no 8 and thereby you constitute a new group. You get your own finishing time, 11 seconds after the leader. The gap of more than three seconds cost you 11 seconds on everybody in the group ahead, including rider no 8, four seconds ahead of you. So what's to gain from this rule that looks like J.K. Rowling did math? No exhausted GC contenders sprinting and crashing atop mountains. You just have to stay within the group. The order only matters for bonus seconds if there are any. The only risk is if whoever is in front of you drops their wheel. Let's say you sit behind a domestique who stops pedaling at 150 m, they might make a split. Else, you are OK.
@helvettefaensatan2 жыл бұрын
@@andrasszabo1570 I know that this sometimes happen. Timekeepers are of cause not commissaires. I refer to 2.3.040, I can't find a reference for the three seconds constituting a bunch that I was told my my usual timekeeper.
