Good video. I bought one and think it’s just so-so. One tip is to MAKE SURE the hole at the tip is big enough to allow a bigger flow of whatever you’re applying if you intend to use the “high flow” setting or it will make a big mess on the plunger. (I did this with a tube of silicone and was a pain to clean off)

I have one. It's been with me for 3 years. I also have the Milwaukee. They both nice but I prefer the ryobi. Because the rod is easy to push back and forth. On the Milwaukee is a hassle. I use both. I work as a roofer on concrete roofs. Salute from the Caribbean, PUERTO RICO U.S.A 😁😁😁

I have an RSI, so using the hand held gun is (literally) a pain for me. I bought this gun to redo our shower, base of toilet, washbasin stand and basin itself. Excellent tool, and only needed to keep speed on low. I've also used it to lay down grab adhesive on the joists in the loft to stick 4x2 to install loft flooring. Thanks to this tool, I didn't need to pay someone to do these jobs. Its a bit bulky so getting into tight spaces is tricky. I recommend the Cramer adjustable nozzles from amazon, and the Cramer silicone finishing tool kit to go with this to give a very professional finish.

I just installed a Flexstone shower enclosure. You have to put a hershey's kiss pile of adhesive caulk every few inches either on the wall the panels go on or on the back of the three panels. Made my job so easy. I had it on high setting and made short work of the caulking. I DID have a user error and didn't punch one of the seals through before use. Made a mess inside the thing.. but I learned how to take it apart and clean it out after the caulk had mostly dried. Easy, peasey. I like the fact it can be disassembled and cleaned. On another video, someone said it doesn't retract, so it isn't dripless. Maybe that was an older model as mine did. Each time I would release the trigger, the motor backed the rod up a bit. Still for small beads, I used the manual as even the slowest setting you have to go pretty quick to get a very small bead and I'm not that good with the Ryobi...yet. Get a lot more caulking to do though 😁

Anytime I do sheetrock and everything's all spackled I like to take my caulking gun and caulk all the inner corners before painting it's because it get it that extra clean finish but I like to do the ceiling coincide then usually I'll take my finger smoothing out that bead and also get a bucket with a sponge to also clean up some of the caulking mess Legion really nice job after you paint

I have it and for some jobs I will still go with the old manual "gun", because even at the slowest setting it's still a bit too fast for fine/thin lines (like doing the caulking for bathroom panels, bathtubs etc). Wish it had a proportional trigger in addition to the separate speed control (so that the trigger would control from near-zero up to the limit set by the speed control). Other than that it's a good tool, especially as I very easily get tendinitis in my hands from to much "gripping".

I bought mine a few months ago and have been using it to seal 30 min fire walls. Great for the hard to reach areas and makes life easier when I'm using the thick fire mastic. Yes, the size can make it difficult to get in some areas but even a normal hand silicone gun would struggle in those areas. Would definitely recommend getting it if uv thought about it.

I find for smaller beads I have to use the gun like you would a regular caulkingun. Build up pressure and stop motor by letting go just a little on trigger, but hold to keep gun from releasing completely and then start motor again for only a second when you fell you need to. It just takes practice. I have used my gun for 5 years and more than 1000 casings and base boards!

Have used one for years and it's still working, a couple of things it does get dirty and you have to try to keep it clean, it's a little big when working in tight corners. It would be handy if they could design one with a long hose and an attachment where you could carry the drive on your person.

Make good and sure that if you're using a used caulking tube that it's not plugged when you go to pulling the trigger. Reading the Home Depot reviews it seems a lot of folks are having trouble with the caulking gun bursting cardboard caulk tubes, plastic ones to a lesser extent. Apparently it is due to the gun exerting so much pressure (500 lbs. according to Ryobi specs). Some folks are recommending you punch several holes in the seal before loading it.

Probably happens when people who don’t use enough caulk don’t cut the hole large enough for the speed they are trying to use. A little hole at high speeds will most likely burst. Same thing can happen with a traditional style gun, hope that helps!

I was curious how it laid a small bead. Like you would use on a tub edge or around fixtures, taps etc.. Ever reviewed the Milwaukee, DeWalt or Makita platform guns. Just curious. On the subject of those silicone tubes. Dam I have a hard time getting them resealed after partial use. I’ve used tape, silicone rubber tips that slide over the ends and the pointed ones that slide in. Nothing more irritating than going back to the tube a few days later and the tube ends are plugged. The pain in the ass ones are the 30 min. Silicone tubes i use. Plug up every time after use.

I've got the older blue version. I find it great for gluing, such as liquid nails, where you have a large area to cover. I found it a bit too fast for doing silicone on my bathtub. Cut the hole small if you need a smaller bead. Now, with all that, be sure you poke that hole in the tube before you start. I forgot on one tube of liquid nails, since it's electric, you don't get the same tactile feedback when squeezing. I thought maybe it was a partial tube and wondered why it was taking so long for the glue to come out then I looked, it squeezed out the back of the tube. Took me about an hour to clean the liquid nails out of the motor and all the parts. (Glad it wasn't silicone...) I was able to open it up and get it all clean, though, that's a good thing

@Steven Nihipali. Just looking at the specs: Ryobi 18V 500 pounds push force. Has a foil piercing rod. Milwaukee M12 400 pounds push force. Has a foil piercing rod. Milwaukee M18 950 pounds push force. Does NOT have a foil piercing rod. So depending on what you're trying to dispense these can be used not only with caulk but with other sealants and adhesives. Some of those sealants are more difficult to gun like polyurethane sealant. If you've fixed cracks or expansion joints in concrete, you'll know how difficult the polyurethane is to squeeze out a regular caulk gun. Only the Milwaukee M18 seems to have optional carriages for larger quart size or sausage style caulk or adhesive tubes. Hope this helps.
