The KJV is mathematical. It is also from the uncorrupted texts. There is a KZbin video from “Truth is Christ” that goes through the mathematics of it & also Robert Breaker goes through the origins of it. That convinced me that God’s hands were on this English translation. Only God could make the pure mathematical stuff happen. The other texts in the newer translations were put together & corrupted along the way to suit man.

For someone who wants to read the KJV without the disputed books in an affordable format, the Bible you recommend is an excellent one, and certainly would be the only one a "minimalist" would need. My old eyes need a larger font. I use a KJV Large Print "Turquoise". It contains the letter from the translators to the reader, which I believe should (but not must) be read by anyone who reads the King James Translation. The KJV translators also translated the disputed books. All of the Protestants who taught Sola Scriptura believed the disputed books were edifying, but were not scripture for all time. Super greatful this showed up today. I've been stuck in translation soup, and I have to be honest...I've checked so many different translations and the CEV / NLT is so smooth, yet something itches at my brain that I should devote my time to the KJV instead. All that to say, I'm a new christian (a little over a year now), and I bought a similar bible to yours, has lots of updated words in the center column, it's great! But I stopped using it for two reasons. 1. There are so many numbers next to words that tell me it has a different meaning that I find I have to slow right down and look at the column every time to make sure the word is what I think it is, do you feel this issue as well? 2. Sometimes I only have my phone to read and when I do, the apps I use, none of them are as awesome as my bible, so I worry too much about not knowing if the words are right. Sorry for this wall of text, but I wanted to ask. God bless you, enjoy your weekend.

Thank you for sharing! I def recommend the KJV as someone who previously read other versions. You definitely will understand it the more you read it. 1. I get what you mean, but the more you read, you come across the same words & you’ll soon realize you already know what that word means because you saw it in another passage, and you won’t have to always use the numbers for the definitions. 2. I get this too, but, one, the Holy Spirit will guide you and help you understand (that’s why it’s important to pray before you read), and two, it’s okay if you don’t understand everything when you’re reading it the first time. I’ve come across passages that I’ve read many times before that I didn’t understand and now I do! As far as the phone reading, I personally read the proverbs of the day on my phone when I wake up (the light helps wake me up) and then later on when I’m fully awake I’ll do my actual Bible study with my physical Bible.

Thanks for responses from both. Found thus out from a website. Psalm 92:10, the psalmist is praying and says, “But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn.” Looking at this verse in a Latin Bible, the word “unicorn” is unicornis, the same scientific Latin name of the present-day Asian one-horned rhinoceros. The King James Bible translators transliterated this word “unicornis” as “unicorn.” Looking at Deuteronomy 33:17 in a Latin Bible, this verse uses the Latin word rinocerotis, referring to a two-horned rhinoceros

Remember, unlike the Bible's text, they are written by men (who have their own opinions and agendas...and Thomas Nelson is definitely NOT a "KJV-Only" (aka, Bible-BELIEVING) publisher). There are also dictionaries, context clues (within the text, especially by comparing a word/passage in one verse with a word/passage of another, as 2 Timothy 3:15 KJV talks about), and (most importantly) prayer that can also help give the reader understanding. Peter said Cornelius was saved BEFORE being baptized (in Acts 10:47) and that's just one of many, many examples. "Born of water" = first birth (flesh), from your mother's water: the old man. "Born of spirit" = second birth, aka, salvation: the new creature of 2 Corinthians 5:17. When you believe washing your flesh will save your spirit, you interpret Jesus' words in a fleshly mindset, like they did in John 6:60-63.

The KJV is fantastic. Keep it. Read it. Greatest English book in history. Unfortunately, it's 400 years old. There are now phrases in the KJV that it is easier to find the Greek or Hebrew meaning than to find the 1600s English definition since phrases aren't in English dictionaries. MODERN DICTIONARIES DO NOT have 1600s English definitions. You have to pay £90 annual subscription to the Oxford Dictionary to get the 1600s word definitions OR know Greek and Hebrew. Why? Because stubborn mules refuse to use a modern translation. I don't understand the foolishness. God's WORD is meant to be UNDERSTOOD. Keep your KJV. Read it, folks, but you need a modern version to see the words AND phrases you don't understand. I use the NASB1995 exclusively now, and I can easily understand what God is trying to tell me.
@americanswan15 күн бұрын
Do you know where those definitions in the margin come from? Greek and Hebrew. Why not just change the word in the text to match the modern definition? So it's okay for a pastor or professor to read the Greek and recommend words in the margins but not to change the text to actually be understandable. How short would sermons be if KJV onlyists pastors didn't spend 10 minutes explaining the ancient English? "I don't trust other translations". So why do you trust the translator who put the new definition into the margin? Maybe they are wrong. kjv onlyists make no logical since. 100 KJV onlyists pastors were recently asked questions about the KJV. Maybe 9 answered all questions correctly according to the greek and Hebrew. 91 KJV Onlyists pastors don't understand their own Bible. If a KJV onlyists pastor can't understand the KJV, how can you? (All results are online) KJV ONLYISTS are a lost cause.
@savedsav15 күн бұрын
Thank you for taking the time to write this out. That’s great that you understand the NASB, I understand the KJV. I actually attend a Spanish church where our congregation uses Reina Valera so I haven’t come across a pastor taking 10 min to explain the Greek & Hebrew. I understand where you’re coming from of why not just change the words, but because it’s old English, to change some words would result in completely rearranging verses to make it grammatically correct. This is risky as some words can be taken out, and doctrines could be changed. Idk the version but there’s a verse about the trinity, that “the three are one.” In another non KJV version, it says “the three agree”...that completely changes the doctrine of the trinity. There are many other examples of that. The Bible tells us that God will preserve his word. If you’re happy reading the NASB, that’s great. I will stick to KJV, and that’s okay too. There’s no need to get defensive or rude.

@joeangular That would be false. Pastors are to teach the gospel, not 1611 English. Secondly, the translators of the KJV put the Bible into modern English of THEIR DAY for the common man to understand. Thirdly, why do you trust some pastors to explain the greek and hebrew meanings of 1611 English, BUT refuse to listen to the scholars who write modern translations? Where do pastors get the greek and Hebrew meanings from? From the same people who write modern translations. Shocking. Next, a phone survey of 100 KJV onlyists pastors found only 9 knew all the answers to the questions. 91 pastors made ERRORS in trying to understand the KJV BIBLE. Shocking. A member of a church with a modern translation based on greek and hebrew scholarship, understand the Bible better than 91% of KJV onlyists pastors. @x-mess you're right. The lady is cuckoo. Recommending the Bible over the holy Spirit. The holy spirit is God's spirit the very best that he poured out on the day of Pentecost. This lady loves her Bible she thinks God poured out the Bible for her. Doesn't know that Bible worshipers live in the past that's why they quote scriptures from the Bible book there is no future for them. Holy Spirit children they live in the future.
