Even if it works, the iv will be changed. Especially if you need a shiny hundo, this method won't help.

It doesn't make it shiny, but it is faster than having any other buddy. It skips the transformation animation, so when it says "Zorua was caught", if "Zorua" is yellow, it's shiny. So it does save a little bit of time. However, they aren't showing up in overwhelming amounts like a community day, so it might not make much difference in the end. One thing that may be relevant was that I had two zorua run away on me today. I had a shiny goomy as my buddy. The first one that ran was because it fled after throwing a golden razz and ultra ball. Just bad luck. I checked my journal and it showed a regular goomy ran away. Later, i had my go++ going and I lost the second zorua. This time, journal showed a shiny goomy ran away. My theory is that neither were shiny zorua, and the reason for the journal difference was encountering it directly versus letting the go++ get it. Of course, there is no good way to confirm that theory, but it's what i chose to believe. The other conclusion is that the one i lost to the go++ was shiny, but I don't want to believe it. Ha

I can confirm just caught it without buddy.. it will encounter as shiny when it is shiny

This information is incorrect, it won't shine on encounter, you're gonna make people straight up skip shinies because of this. If you want a shiny zorua catch every single one, do not skip over any.

Unfortunately having a Zoura as your buddy DOES NOT make it a shiny encouter. I did find one but only after catching and checking did it show it was shiny.

Setting your buddy to Zorua doesn't work. It just shows your buddy zorua until you catch it and it reveals a different zorua. This is currently the only known process besides a new account with no buddy at all: 1. Make sure there are no zoruas around you 2. change your buddy to something else 2. change back your buddy to your previous buddy 3. Now zorua will not disguise anymore

I can 100% confirm this works. The game does eventually refresh and start spawning your buddy, but you can redo the steps and it starts again. I can ALSO 100% confirm that when zorua spawns in this form, it will show them as their shiny form before you catch them. I just caught two this way.

It doesn’t have a transformation screen but I feel it won’t shine on encounter screen bevause the cp changes as if it’s a completely different mon

This method does not work. I use a shiny snover as my buddy, so I see shiny snovers pop up on the map. I did catch a shiny zorua, but it also just looked like shiny snover until it's disguise was busted. I believe you can't know if a zoura is shiny until after you've caught it because the game doesn't assign all of its stats until after you have caught it. A player at lvl 30 and a player at lvl 6 will both see a zoura in the same spot on the map just like with other Pokemon. While it is disguised as their respective buddies, both players will see the Zoura imposter has the same stats for both of them (ie. just like any other Pokemon, it will be the same level for both players encountering the same spawn. You will see your buddy and I will see mine, but both of us will see the same CP### for the imposter.) Once the Zoura is caught though, it's CP### will change and it will not be the same for both players. This means the game is generating those numbers after the catch, otherwise they'd be the same for both players who catch the same spawn. A shiny Zoura and regular Zoura will always be exact copies of your buddy Pokemon, including shadow, shiny, and purification effects as well as any event clothing/costumes. The game won't tell you that it's shiny until you break it's disguise after catching it.

@@stettkt1 I’m not sure, I just checked and I’ve caught too many random Pokémon since it won’t let me go back further. Since catching it I set shiny Zorua as my buddy and he appears on the map and shows up shiny in the journal while finding candy
