Bryan Johnson is a fascinating living experiment. To be truthful, I'm a doubter, however, I hope he proves me and every other doubter wrong. Reading his face, it does not look like Bryan has reversed aging but instead relies on botox and plastic surgery and hair dye to give the "appearance" of youth. We see through it. None of these things make people look younger but instead makes people look like a plastic version of themselves and, in Bryan's case, he looks like Data from Star Trek. What's most interesting about Bryan's regimen to me is whether or not he's slowed down the aging of his body. Is Bryan truly healthy? Apparently, his blood work is very healthy and "youthful," whatever that means. Magnus is an incredibly fit athlete but no incredibly fit athlete has been able to slow the process of aging. Magnus's fitness takes a toll on his body too. Magnus ages gracefully and I appreciate his aging skin and wrinkles on his face. He doesn't use botox nor uses plastic surgery and he looks great. To be fair to Bryan, he says he's not trying to look younger but _BE_ younger. This is impossible but one we are all onboard to watch. I wish him the best. _Long live and prosper._
@motorax.service.motociclete12 күн бұрын
i bet my arm on it he uses hormones and beauty procedures like botox and stuff, just of course he can't admit it. one of the most obvious aspect is that his jaw line got stronger and wider than before and that's a sign of using HGH
@davidhunternyc111 күн бұрын
@@motorax.service.motociclete Yes, for all of Bryan's "health" decisions, I bet he takes pills that are suspect. Even pills for hair regrowth require processing by the liver. His skin is so pasty white, he looks like a plastic doll. Hormones too must be part of his process. I can't hate on him, however. He seems nice enough and he surrounds himself with experts who know more about the aging process than I can ever know. Besides leaving botox and plastic surgery alone, I would like to see two changes that Bryan, of course, would never do. The first, no more hair treatment. No more hair dye and no more pills or surgery to replace loss of hair. Bryan would look so much better and healthier if he let his grey come in. Grey hair is also an indicator if his reverse aging routine is actually working. If his hair continues to grey, we'll all be able to see it. This, however, will shatter the thin illusion of youth which may hurt the sales of his products. The second, get some sun, real sun. I bet there are nutrients provided by the sun that artificial light can't replicate. Just a couple of times of week, 30 minutes a day, lay in the sun and get that golden glow, however slight. These changes, no box, no facelifts, no hair dyes, and sun in his skin would make Bryan look younger and healthier. His routine, unfortunately, is unnatural and he looks like an artificial version of his true self.

I couldn't do 70 pushups like that at ANY point in my life. What about skin elasticity? Number of microtumors in your body? Number of microstrokes in your brain? Does grip strength measure that? And washing down 100 pills a day with olive oil? Think: There's a million different diets ni the world. If there was a SINGLE ONE that made you live longer than average, we'd know. Even Okinawa turned out to be mostly good genetics concentrated on an island (who knew that isands tended to concentrate genes...?) Longevity is genes combined with luck and not sitting down all day. nb. Walking an hour a day is fine, probably less will do. No, competing in triathlons won't add years. Diet? EVERYBODY is different, AND it varies with age. Try to mix it up. Eat lots of different things and find what suits you, then try other things.

17:42 The woman Magnus is talking about is Jeanne Calment, and as a french i've heard of her before. So yes Bryan is right by saying that it's mostly due to luck and genetics, but there is another factor : Jeanne Calment has lived a simple life with probably less stress than most people. Also, the few other women that lived until 115yo+ were almost all nuns, again, stress free life. So maybe that's the secret. And in our times it's harder to achieve that. And by wanting to be younger, the opposite might happens because of the frustration to see your body age despite your efforts.

I’m 47 years old. I believe in taking care of myself, and a balanced diet and a rigorous exercise routine. In the morning, if my face is a little puffy, I’ll put on an ice pack while doing my stomach crunches. I can do a thousand now. After I remove the ice pack I use a deep pore cleanser lotion. In the shower I use a water activated gel cleanser, then a honey almond body scrub, and on the face an exfoliating gel scrub. Then I apply an herb-mint facial masque which I leave on for 10 minutes while I prepare the rest of my routine. I always use an after shave lotion with little or no alcohol, because alcohol dries your face out and makes you look older. Then moisturizer, then an anti-aging eye balm followed by a final moisturizing protective lotion. There is an idea of a Bryan. Some kind of abstraction. But there is no real me. Only an entity. Something illusory. And though I can hide my cold gaze, and you can shake my hand and feel flesh gripping yours, and maybe you can even sense our lifestyles are probably comparable, I simply am not there.

Most people decline rapidly as seniors when they can no longer get out of a chair easily, so their body exponentially wastes away. Good leg/back strength is one the best longevity blessings you can have, especially when it comes to quality of life. It's not talked about much in the longevity community, but the gold standard for medical longevity in humans is still the "how long does it take you to get up out of a chair and walk across the room". It was the standard test for senior clinical trials studying aging before longevity became really advanced in the last 10 years, so there is actually more data about the stand/walk test being the most important.

He also refers to himself as like an athlete which is similarly analogous. He is doing everything he possibly can, he is the extreme, he is literally a guinea pig, but he hopes other people can learn something from him which will help them. You mention his diet, but you don't even know what his diet is, it's not difficult to emulate. His meals are easy to make and use simple ingredients. The recipes are published along with the reason for each ingredient. He has a chef to help him experiment and because he is really busy.

He's so right on with the supplement you want to take is the one you're deficient in. And he obviously understands moderate caloric restriction and only chosing the absolutely best food ingredients. How does he reconcile this with slamming a shot of olive oil?!
@wd25a2 ай бұрын
I don't take seed oils but olive oil is a little different - I think the jury is out on that one, even to most of the anti seed oil crowd. Also you can bet your bottom dollar he does not get the cheap schmutter! - what he has will be 100% real extra virgin, not just labelled that way. So is guzzling olive oil contraindicated anyway if you are consuming lots of carbs? I guess it depends on if he drinks that away from large carb meals to avoid problems with the Randle cycle. Personally mainly meat and eggs makes me feel healthier and decades of nasty acid reflux is gone eating like that so that's important to me - while I'm alive - who knows about longevity. I could be interesting to see a meeting Brian with M.D Dr Anthony Chaffee!

Fats are a vital aspect of a healthy diet. While I'd personally argue that the specific type of fat you take in doesn't matter so long as your diet isn't high in non-omega-3 polyunsaturated fats, olive oil isn't bad at all. I suspect there's some evidence he's found that indicate high monounsaturated fat consumption is worthwhile. Or, if he's concerned about food toxicity or microplastics or some such, it may simply be that it's the easiest source of dietary fats that doesn't come with a host of drawbacks. This is all speculation, but personally, I see nothing wrong with taking straight olive oil.

This doesn't reflect badly on Magnus at all but that age test in the second half of the video is such bullshit. First of all, no, just because you're strong doesn't mean you are young. You see it instantly with the grip strength test. Magnus has spent practically his whole live training for grip strength, so he's going to get a better score. If he was training for benchpress instead, would that make him an older person? According to this test it would. Also, he apperently instantly improved the freak millionaire's score just with some quick technique pointers. Did he de-age in those minutes? And then there's the data that was used. To be seen as a fit 19 year old, you need to be able to do 50 pushups (!) but only be able to stand on one leg for 40 seconds? I mean come on. Again, nothing wrong with Magnus for making the video (it was great) but anyone who thinks this is a serious or exact science may have lost sight of reality a little bit...
@user-vi9vf2bu4q2 ай бұрын
correlation vs causation is always something to consider, but the way I viewed it, seems like Bryan + team are working on their own studies to find more conclusive evidence about things? it didn't come across like "if you can do 50 push ups you are 19 years old biologically" but "if you can do 50 push ups you are similar in health to someone younger than you"
@Aldraz2 ай бұрын
It doesn't show the biological age, but it does show the correlation with the physical age or basically their physical ability and comparing it to the people with the best performance and if you ignore athletes and focus simply on the ages in which on average they do these physical tests the best, well then you are gonna discover (even in athletes usually) that the best ages are around 18-25 and after that usually in all kinds of sports the performance on average is getting worse. So you just compare the numbers, it's really not that deep and could be a good indicator, especially the flexibility test. Take it more as areas on which you should focus on.

As a martial artists who regularly trains standing on one leg and trying to hold balance. Here are some tips for any one looking to improve on it 1. Look straight ahead, keeping your gaze focused on one specific point far ahead of you. It will make it easier to keep balance than looking downwards (a quite significant amount of our balance is based on our sight, and why it’s so much harder to stand on one leg with closed eyes. By looking straight ahead you are giving your brain more info to work on to determine if you are tipping one way or the other etc) 2. Do it barefoot. You want to use all the fine small muscles in your toes and feet to help make corrections and help keep balance. Doing it with shoes is almost like trying to eat with chopsticks while wearing gloves. Using your arms to counter balance, is way bigger and more likely to be slightly wrong and throw you off balance. Tension your big toe or your other toes and other parts of your foot, and mainly try to keep balance just using your toes. 3. Bend the knee you are standing on ever so slightly. Just to make sure you aren’t over extending it and locking the knee. 4. Train it a little bit regularly. This is a easy thing to train while doing everyday stuff. While you are waiting for something in the microwave, waiting for your coffee / tea to brew. Etc. Just 40 seconds on each leg. And I would suggest to keep it at around 1 minute to 40-ish seconds per leg, because it gets boring and harder to squeez in if it gets much longer than that. Just make easier or harder variations. To start out easier if you have trouble standing on one leg for a minute. I would suggest you start with having something to hold on to. Like a kitchen counter or a door frame, etc. Try to use the support as little as possible. And keep the balance on your own as much as possible. But standing the whole time (with a little support) will help build the muscles in your feet, and in your legs that you are using to stand that longer time. Then do one minute on each leg unsupported. Once you can do that without problem. Try to have the other leg bent infront of you and keeping it still and not waving it around to try and help you keep balance. Keep your back straight, not moving the arms or the other leg, and just keep balance with the muscles in your foot. Then raise that knee of the other leg higher and higher infront of you, to help make it a bit more challenging. Once that gets easy, then carefully (so be mindful of what’s around you) train it with your eyes closed. It’s significantly harder with your eyes close, so be prepared for that. Once you can do that, try to keep your balance with your eyes closed and doing one legged squats, start out with just bending the knee a little and then slowly over time increase how low you go. Good luck!
