There were plenty of landings that were a lot better than What you saw in the video. This car is also particularly squirrely especially on the stock tires. I think the stock servos a bit slow to which makes correcting difficult. If I can't drive after 20 years of nearly daily bashing I don't think lessons are going to help :-)

you have to remember, the faster they fix the issue the faster they are back to making money selling the product. If they see a new product release get marred by material failure, they are a "small" company and can have people work overnight, a redesign only takes a few hours, another 2 days to get production materials overnighted and prototype built, 2 days for QA, send to mass production and overnight the final pieces out to your partners. doesnt seem that crazy to me at all.
@DoRC Жыл бұрын
It's the mass production part that I am not sure about. You're talking about getting the company in China that's mass-producing these to pull the molds set them up re-machine them schedule the time on their injection molding machines run the injection mold batch assemble the finished products and then mail them halfway across the world. Not saying it's not possible I'm just saying it seems like a pretty compressed time frame for all those steps to occur.

How can I buy a sledge or k6 when this is cheaper than both and bigger? Especially with a 7075 chassis. My shredder was one of my favorite rigs while I had it. After a year the diffs blew and I never could get the ARRMA diffs installed in it and just ended up giving up on the truck. Not so much for speed runs but to run a bigger battery for prolong run times. That stock size motor during 15-20 minutes test in summer worries me. Thanks

they didn't retool the entire arm. they updated the existing mold tool. that type of modification can happen in several days if the mold manufacture is motivated enough.
@DoRC Жыл бұрын
That's correct. My question of the time frame isn't just the several days it takes to retool. It's the design, prototyping, sending that design to the manufacturer in China, them modifying the mold, scheduling time on the injection molding machine, doing the run, assembling the finished product and then shipping that finished product back to United States. I'm sure it's possible to do it in 2 weeks it just seems like a pretty compressed schedule for all of that.
@aaronlane4346 Жыл бұрын
@@DoRC it seems really fast, but it was in the best interest for redcat AND the vendor to make the modifications as quickly as possible. the vendors also have to protect their reputation within the industry. the vendor likely had their staff working weekends / nights to run and package everything [china regulations]. Redcat likely saw the issue, isolated solutions, came up with realistic mold updates, tested the modifications using computer simulation, then transferred the design update to the vendor. [this process could take a day or two depending on the engineer's schedule / priority] The parts were likely air shipped to the United States from the vendor. Overnight shipping is available from China. They wouldn't have ocean shipped them. there is time to make it all happen :)

They fixed multiple issues. All at once. That means they either they knowing shipped out a product with multiple errors or they are that good at manufacturing because they build and design everything themselves. Unlike say Traxxas or Armma where the designers are working from HQ in another country and the factory is on the other side of the planet. I bet they just milled out the old molds instead of making new ones. If are making bigger parts you can make the old mold bigger but you can't do that when you want to make smaller parts. The grub screw would be easy because all they have to do is cut a longer piece. The drive shafts would be just inserting solid rod instead of hollow into the same machine.
@DoRC Жыл бұрын
Redcat has the same basic design and manufacturing setup as Traxxas and Horizon. They're based in the US but all the manufacturing is done in China. I'm sure they don't have their own facilities in China either. The stuff's all subbed out to third parties. That's why I was so surprised that it was done so quickly. Not far to 10K.!! You're doing well mate. I only wish Redcat were available in the UK (other than Ebay) because I'd definitely be interested in a couple of their RCs.! That's a puzzler about those arms... If they already knew about them & were already working on a fix, why did they release it when they did instead of delaying the release date to fix them.? Did they hope nobody would notice.? I can't get behind that theory because they've got to know how a bad release can ruin an RCs reputation..! I think it was a combination of a poor initial design & poor manufacturing/QC that allowed them to be shipped with the turnbuckles screwed in too far on one side leaving insufficient threads on the other side. I think they stuck with that design because it is so different, it's almost like a unique feature that sets it apart from the others.? Yes two weeks is a very short amount of time but from what I understand Redcat are really trying to step their game up to get themselves noticed, so this is something I can see them being proud of rather than regretting. Hopefully the Machete won't be remembered for a bad release, but for how impressively quick Redcat sorted the problem out. After all... In life, it's not the mistakes you make that are important... For that price, It's pretty clear its a great over built basher. the 6s model is already pretty under powered for this 1/6 scale to do any type of throttle control. I think the best price-performance thing you can do is buy the 4s and slap in a good 8s esc and bashing motor into the Machete. You'd have a pretty killer 1/6+ scale machine for about 700 bucks, I also expect the spare parts to be dirt cheap being a redcat.

I agree. At 300 bucks this is a tough one to pass up. You get a lot of car for that cash.

2:00 i almost guarantee they are actually 1.3mm. i believe 50 thousandths is 1.27 and considering every rc car i have ever seen is metric i guarantee a 1.3mm would fit better. will a .05 work? sure buts its gonna wear out the head a little bit every time and one day you wont be able to get it out.
@DoRC Жыл бұрын
Given that you're talking about .001 inch difference between the two I don't think it's going to be much of a problem. This is especially true since these don't actually get tightened into anything.
@dirtrider88 Жыл бұрын
@@DoRC when your talking about such a tiny little fastener it definitely matters. im speaking from experience. go stick a 1.3mm driver into that screw you think is a .05 and see how much better it fits.
@DoRC Жыл бұрын
@@dirtrider88 I understand what you're saying. I've been a professional mechanic for 20 years so I'm pretty familiar with fasteners. In this case though the hex is a very snug fit on my .050 driver. I'm not sure a 1.3 mm would fit. The reason I have this driver is because small crawlers like the SCX24 actually use 0.050 screws. It's entirely possible that this is the same situation.

Should be solid plastic they will still break
@DoRC Жыл бұрын
That may be the case but the updated ones have taken some pretty serious hits and held up well so far. They're definitely a big improvement. Thanks for watching and if you enjoy my videos a sub is appreciated:-)

What a wast of tme ? I would not bother getting it, to low to the ground ?
@DoRC Жыл бұрын
It has a similar ground clearance to other vehicles of its design with similar size tires. You could increase the ground clearance with larger tires. I prefer more of a stunt oriented truck but a lot of people like long and low slung so I think it would be desirable for some. Thanks for watching :-)

Seems to handle like 💩 even with the copperheads... Maybe do the f/R diffs as well with 80/30k? More punch? Was it maxed already?, because if so surprised it didn't correct great with 1m in the center. Cool to see redcat making different rigs but Corally and HoBao seem to be better non big brand options still. Thanks for this bud
@DoRC Жыл бұрын
I think a lot of the handling problem was related to the stock servo. It's very slow and I was struggling to compensate for it. I'm used to really fast responsive servos. Not sure if front and rear differential fluid would make a huge difference but that kind of tuning may help as well. It's geared really conservatively and the truck weighs quite a bit so authority in the air just isn't that great. At this time I think Corally is going to be hard to beat. Hobao is awesome too but their presence in the US just really isn't there. All things considered though It's definitely a fun car and worth messing with. Thanks for watching :-)

Redcat always shoot themselves in the foot I thought they would have learned from the OG Kaiju I love my OG kaiju wish they had made a v2 instead of the ext For the machete is just doesn't appeal to me
@DoRC Жыл бұрын
Yeah I don't think the machete is going to be for everybody. It's not really the kind of truck that I would normally run. I'm usually more of a stunt truck person but it does seem pretty durable now and definitely has the potential to be fun for the right people!

2:35 uhhhh longer "grub" screw. where the fuck do you think that longer "grub" screw is suppose to go if they dont redesign the arm??? lmao. 3:02 ummm adjustability, better than pillow balls.
@DoRC Жыл бұрын
I didn't say they didn't intend to redesign the arm I just said they didn't say they were going to redesign the arm which is true. Thanks for watching :-)
@DoRC Жыл бұрын
Yeah it would be nice for adjustability if these were actually adjustable. They're not.
@dirtrider88 Жыл бұрын
@@DoRC sure they are. unscrew the ends a little
@DoRC Жыл бұрын
@@dirtrider88 okay yes you can technically partially disassemble them to make them longer but they're not designed to be adjustable. That would leave the aluminum part in the middle loose. I'm sure you're familiar with what a true adjustable arm looks like. This is not that.
