Great video as always guys, so many memories for me there. The campsite of dirt you stayed at was where I had an argument with the owner, him telling me that we were in a camper van, not a camper trailer. We got charged less for 2 nights as he was convinced that the thing we were towing and living in was not smaller than just a little van. Heat had got to old mate methinks!

Hi guys, Really enjoying your vid. My wife and I have travelled all over Australia over 25 years plus and never had any trouble with road trains and if you go into the mining areas of WA the're a LOT longer. As far as travelling in the outback, the tourist season is from April to about 1st week in September. Only the locals and travellers just as yourselves travel at the other times. During the tourist season you'd be lucky to get into a Coober Pedy caravan park it's that busy.

One Christmas we had 9 days straight over 45c ..... and it didn't seem that hot at the time. The small fires along side of the road is what is called fire stick farming. its to keep the combustible grasses down to prevent a major bush fire. also some plants need fire to bust open the pods to release the seeds for regeneration. the burning is normally done and controlled by council workers namely Aboriginal workers.

Your video reminded me of Jamie Dornan and his series Outback it looked horrendous 😂but you both were sensible and as you say staying safe (and all ve) is very important we couldn't do without you two 💚 really enjoyed seeing the hotel but not sure it's as good as the usual Comfort Inns 😊Very enjoyable xxx

Yeah, glad we get to show the rest of the world what it is really like for you guys, not many people come in summer, so at least now our audience can see what you guys endure, you're a tough bunch!! 💪💪🤣

One thing to do when it's hot, is to wet your clothes, while they dry, it cools your body.

Hi Philly and Keely. Wow that super hot weather must have been really draining. I’m glad you found some respite in the underground hotel. Hope you’re somewhere a bit cooler now. Have a great week 🥰 Take care. Nick

We love your videos each week and hope it has now cooled down a bit more for you to start really enjoying Aus. At the moment here in NI it’s a lovely 3c with snow forecast later in the week. We had a great holiday in Aus last year and you have given us the urge to go back and explore more. And by some weird coincidence I said hello to Philly’s Dad during the week as I had reason to be in your home town. ( a long story to how I made the connection 😜).
@phillyandkeely Жыл бұрын
We want to hear the story how you made the connection now 🤣 that's so cute that you met his dad, do you see a resemblance? Less hair 🤣

We used to visit a great wee coffee shop in Glenarm ,run by a lovely lady called Samantha. Unfortunately she decided to close it just before Christmas. We didn’t get the chance to get a last visit before she closed but just before Christmas we ended up at IKEA having a coffee when Samantha and a friend walked past. We stopped by her table to wish her all the best for the future and ended up chatting to her and her friend who had driven up from Portadown/Lurgan to join her for coffee. Her friend ( sorry cannot remember name) was home from travelling Australia with her husband and young family in a motorhome. I then suggested she watch this great KZbin channel about 2 ejits who have built their own camper van (again) and are currently traveling in Aus. She thought a second and then said I know who you are talking about - Philly is the son of my Pastor at my church. 😜. Now wind forward to the new year and last week. Unfortunately I had a funeral to attend in Lurgan and guess which church it was at and who was the pastor taking the service. And now you know 😊.

When I was a kid many years ago I had a pen friend from Australia and she sent me a small opal from Cooper Pedy. I have treasured that for over fifty years. I really cannot fathom why you went to the outback now lol. I hate the heat hence we moved to Scotland and last night 13 Jan we had snow. Take care. Have fun and above all stay safe xx
@phillyandkeely Жыл бұрын
Aww that's so lovely that you have an opal all the way from here! If we had a year long visa we could have come at a different season, but this is the visa we have so we gotta make it work. Apparently it's worse late Jan and Feb, so we planned to do it December so it hadn't got to it's most extreme yet, but didn't expect a heatwave haha

Keely saying about not being allowed to have nice things, like an opal. I think opals are magical, I had a ring when I was young and lost the stone, then heard they were bad luck! I was given a second opal...and the stone got a big chip in it! So not to worry Keely you dodged a bullet! Stay cool guys!

Great vid guys, Coober Pedy is on my bucket list for 2024, I can't wait! Tip for your back door, look at getting a Tailgate Standoff lock, means you can safely have it open a crack at night for ventilation and also run leads through the back without worrying about the door closing and cutting it. Safe travels 🙂
@phillyandkeely Жыл бұрын
I didn't know those tailgate things existed, that's a great tip! Awesome that you are doing to Coober Pedy this year! Such a weird place, defo needs experienced in person!

Nice quiet video. No unalived solar panels! Only one little broken dingo light 💡👍🏼!! I loved seeing the Opal mine. Opals are so beautiful!! Is that still a working mine? That underground hotel was sooo cool (literally). I wish you could have stayed there two nights but I was glad to hear the weather had broken when you left. You are two brave souls enduring that heat! It gets that hot here in the summer which is quite depressing but I have central air in my house so I don’t have to endure it like you did 🥵!! I can’t wait to see where you take us next week. Safe travels from Southern California 🌴

ThankS so much ❤️❤️ that hotel was far too expensive to stay more than one night 🤣🤣 just enough to get us one good night's sleep
