OUR MOST EXPENSIVE FERRY EVER!! (Is Tasmania Worth It?)

The Journey to Tasmania Begins! The ferry to Tasmania is the most expensive boat we have ever taken and also the busiest ferry we have ever booked (and we have been on a lot of ferries in our time travelling through Europe in our van) One way tickets with the van can go for $980 in peak summer plus a $210 cabin, would make for $2400 return ticket to the island. In Winter tickets appear to be around $500 one way, so $1400 return with cabin. Coming from UK where there are so many different possible routes and companies connecting us it is very unique to us for there to be only one company, one route and one boat connecting the entire island state of Tasmania to mainland Australia! The ferry books up three months in advance which is something to be aware of, but you can get added to cancellation list to hopefully get a last minute crossing if needed. We have been super excited about exploring Tasmania, so we can bring you guys along and see if the ferry is worth it! (Spoiler alert, we think it is!)
Tasmania is a hikers paradise, the mountains are incredible, the coast line is stunning and this week we get our first ever Tasmanian wild swim in!

⤈ WHO WE ARE ⤈
We are Philly and Keely and we live full time in our tiny home on wheels Martha. After building our DIY home in a Citroen Relay camper we spent a year living on the streets of London before quitting our jobs only to be met with lockdown. Then we took our van further than she had ever been before to the very beautiful Turkey. Enroute, we stopped off in Spain for a few weeks where we experienced every van lifers worst nightmare, we were robbed and they stole all valuables in our van. But then we were back on our feet, fully MOT’d and back on the road through Europe before we experienced another vanlife nightmare... our van caught fire!! After the trauma of that we had a massive change of plan and made our way to Japan. We enjoyed a three-month Japanese Adventure and then got back to Martha for some new European Adventures. After an incredible three-month Scottish road trip, we packed up our van and headed to Australia for a new van life adventure! Here we bought and built our new van in only 30 days and then took him deep into the Australian outback and beyond!

Yeah, i feel like locals should get a discount haha, it's just crazy expensive in comparison to Europe and UK, but I suppose that's because there is lots of competition and different companies and routes. One of the best ferries we've ever been on though, so can't complain ahha

Oh wow, you came to Tassie. Loved seeing your hike and the view, and the lake. It was such a moment when you said Keely that the water temp is Scottish cold, because there are so many of us living in Tasmania with Scottish ancestors (and Irish too). Philly usually there’s teenagers working at McDonald’s. So I think you confused them by saying two black coffees. They’re probably thinking you’re making a special order . Just say two large coffees . They were probably trying to make it blacker . Some of those kids come from Starbucks . I found your channel last week and have been binging. I wish I'd found it sooner as I live in Tullah, Tasmania. It's a great little town in which to live and you met Cleveland, the grumpy alpaca. Don't take it personally, I'm grumpy too and I've started spitting at tourists who get too close. It's cheaper on the ferry if you state you're driving a camper van. I hope you enjoy your Tasmanian trip.

😂I’m the same as you Keeley climbing is so hard- so well done for sticking with it. My recent experience with friends all tromping away up the hill without even breaking out in a sweat whilst I was struggling to breathe and thought I would collapse!!! I made it though as you did 🎉

Awesome.. Just a heads up. Those "bee's" are actually European wasps an invasive species that have made themselves at home. Nasty sting, but are also carion eaters, feed on road kill etc. As well as nectar. Bees act quite differently. These do sting and are far more aggressive than normal bees. Beautiful walk, and lucky to have such a good day for it. My home state. Xx
