Randall is so wrong here. But he’s human and struggling. Rebecca getting ill is bringing out his worst traits. I love how the show set over time shows how you can grow to love or dislike characters. Everyone loved Randall the most originally but a lot I’ve noticed are starting to find him annoying and relate to Kevin more. I’m sure it’ll flip back again soon. Such as in life it goes with our relatives and friends

I think Randall has been through a lot, he feels guilty for not saving his dad (Jack) and for coming so late in his dad’s life (william) and not being able to provide the care/help he needed to fight the cancer at an earlier stage and now his mom is also slowly disappearing and he just wants to help/save just one of his parents and she’s the last one standing

Randall is scared. I have a feeling that Randall fear that when Rebecca starts to loss her memory Rebecca will forget that he is her son first. That’s is one reason (not the only reason) he want to push her into something she don’t want to do. And also took care of her over the years. He might bring it up in therapy.

R needs a very very good therapist. Mourning for 20 years is not good. Of course 'things could be different if' but that's not the way an healthy person should live. Poor R. Sense of guilty and obsession about what he couldn't do. If not treated this brings on a miserable life for every member of a family.

Well, the ending has already been shot. At least partially. Mandy Moore knows how it ends. I think the show ends with her death, and as she crosses over, Jack is there to meet her.

But he passed away from the smoke and having a weak heart caused by the smoke... We don't know at what point of Jack saving the family that he had inhaled too much smoke so... Jack was meant to die. It breaks our hearts but he was.

Maybe. Several years ago a movie called the Time Machine addressed that. The guy had to tell him that the reason why he couldn't change his fiancée's death was because the past was the past. Because it had already happened, even if he intervened in the cause of her death, he couldn't change the fact that she was dead.
