This is Water
I shot this at Two Steps beach, Hawaii, last year and serendipitously shot it in slow motion. I think it blends really well with David Foster Wallace‘s 2005 commencement speech at Kenyon College. I only used clips of it here but I highly, highly recommend that you check out the whole speech and transcript attached in the link below. I wish I had come across it during my angsty adolescent years.

I had to listen multiple times and at multiple moments in my life to understand and realize the deep meaning of his words. His talk about water has very much in common with zen and the realisation of who or better what we actually are, what actually is important in a self build worls full of illusions and false promisis. To the fish and the water we drink, this is water. But, in regards to what David is talking about, the climate of human consciousness, this is our water, in grave need of learning from. What else the collective made up of, but the sum of its individuals, which means it begins with the individual that is you, not the world around you. The grand dilemma of a platitude to save and change the world, including God.
