Ok the politician being mad about Mr Beast, yeah there is no downside to the people being helped. The politicians that are mad on the other hand look incompetent and unable to help their people. That’s why they are angry, and honestly if that’s all it takes for those politicians to get pissed then they probably are incompetent

I think part of the problem is the real issue of labor used. A lot of the activist bring in outside crews instead of teaching locals how to do the construction so when the activist leave then the locals learned virtually nothing and if any issues crop up they have to pay for outside help again rather then being able to fix it alone.

9:40 Oh, there are two very good reasons why African officials had a problem with Mr.Beast providing fresh water for communities throughout Africa. 1. It makes them look bad because...why are their own governments not providing fresh water to their own people? 2. They weren't given briberies.

So the reason SsethTzenetch uses Kony has his avatar is becuase despite all of the hype around Kony 2012 he never faced justice, and yes is still alive. Now his whole schitck is making fun of everything that's popular, but he does this because he worked for a pharma corps and became disillusioned over how F'd up the world is. Kony is alive... and well... you can add on whatever extra thing you consider F'd up from here, and that's where he generates his humour from. It's all gallows humour, you just need to learn why

People getting mad at Mr Beast for building wells in Africa are empty ghouls. Building wells is like the absolute perfect humanitarian aid objective. Giving clothing and food, for example, may damage the local economy as local shops do not sell, etc. Building a hospital would be great, but unless you also pay for the maintenance, etc, it is useless as it won't be used because people cannot afford it. But wells?? Literally EVERYONE needs water. There is NO drawback from doing it. Near sources of clean water means not needing 2 hours in a dangerous path under extenuating circumstances, no illnesses, etc. To do wells, there is a huge front cost and then there is very little maintenance. Mr Beast paid the huge coast and then promised to keep the maintenance for years. From the point of view of anyone who knows anything about humanitarian aid, wells are the perfect contribution to any society, especially in some parts of the word, like central Africa, where access to flowing water is also not possible. So you are mad that Mr Beast left your government in shame?? GOOD. DO BETTER.

the best donation someone can give is knowledge mr beast was nice to give them wells, but in my opinion he could also teach the locals and provide them with resources as an upstart, that way they can provide for themselves in the long run
@JackDespero
@JackDespero 7 ай бұрын
@rojectNah, that is just some Facebook mom BS. Do you know what people need more than knowledge? Clean water. You can know how to build a well, but without the hundreds of dollars or even milions in machinery and materials, you ain't gonna get it. I know because I know how to build a thermonuclear fusion reactor, and yet I do not have one in my backyard. A working education system is one of those things that cannot be provided and suistained by outside sources. Mr Beast could gift them 100 computers, and they wouldn't have a place to connect them, or the resources to maintain them. Besides, I am not sure if you noticed, but he built many of those wells near schools. That is how you promote knowledge, but allowing students to focus on school, instead of spending 4 hours going back and forth between the school and the well everyday if they want to have a sip of water.

@@JackDespero you are confusing knowledge with technology, my man just because you know something doesnt mean you need to have the tools either, you can become a driver without needing to own a car, but you can absolutely become a driver as a job also, not everything requires power tools and heavy machinery, especially a well, a simple shovel can give you one, teach them where water sources are more likely to be located, tell them how to dig, and everything is swell

Totally agree with the Mr. Beast stance. It really shouldn't matter who helps who so long as they are genuinely just trying to help and there is an obvious need. If the African leaders have a problem with Mr. Beast building wells, maybe they should have done it first? Some of those poor people have been without water security literally their whole lives so I see their behavior as very egotistical and out of touch. I've been helped many times in my life by people that were of a different background than me and I wouldn't be the person I am without them. We should all be grateful any people that willing choose to help out of the kindness of their hearts. Hope all is well and you are feeling well! Keep up the great content!

@hemperoroftheholybri33...I remember Gay Marriages being a controversial thing back in the 10s. In the 80s, you'd either get beaten to death, or where thrown out and considered diseased since Aids was a major pandemic back then that was associated with Gay Men.

@@H3y_Im_Rob the debate around gay marriage had nothing to do with hatred of gays, I know that might sound strange but hear me out. So the issue we have is that marriage (in the west) is a Christian religious ceremony between a man and woman, and homosexuality is considered a sin, and you cannot bless sin, the argument shouldn't be for accepting gay marriage it should be for making civil partnership legally the same as marriage. Instead of forcing your own opinions on thousands of years old religious traditions.
@MrMcFlipps
@MrMcFlipps 7 ай бұрын
@@the98themperoroftheholybri33 then how did Jews in the west get married? What about Muslims? Based on your "definition" these people still, to this day could not be married in the US/West. Marriage is a tradition that PREDATES not only Christianity, but also Judaism and Islam, not something you can force your religion into. IN FACT, the earliest recorded marriage in human history was in 2350 BC (I wonder what that BC stands for huh....), but to you two humans loving each other and pledging to each other to spend their lives together does NOT COUNT AS marriage. Stop making your religion the basis for EVERYTHING when this country was built on the ideas of separation of church and state. Christians DID hate gays in America for a LONG time (see the fear/misinfo spread over the HIV/AIDS epidemic and more recently the way gay CHILDREN were tortured in Christian conversion therapy clinics) and it wasn't until ONLY 2012 that the supreme court ruled that you can't stop gay people from getting married. So, very kindly, learn some history. It saves you from looking like an absolute fool. And if you don't believe anything I wrote It's all just a simple trip to the library/an internet search away.

@@the98themperoroftheholybri33 You could not be more wrong. Marriage is a tradition that predates Christianity, Judaism and Islam. The earliest recorded marriage in human history was in 2350 BC (Wonder what that BC means). Gay Marriage was ruled to have to be allowed only in 2012. And still to this day many Evangelical Christians in America see being gay as a sin, and a lot even go as far as to HATE them. (look up the Texas pastor incident in 2022) Even now we see a push from religious groups to marginalize a new queer community, the trans community. Instead of forcing your religion on my tradition that's over 4 thousand years old, try to learn some history.

From my understanding the wells often have two negative effects; many get highly contaminated (Often from dead bodies or faeces ) causing poisoning/disease outbreaks, and others are targets for various militant groups who hear that a water source is available so they torch the nearby towns/villages. Intention is good, and I'm sure some of them have had a good impact on the lives of locals, but it can come with unforeseen consequences.

But reality is his guys were ambushing other supply trucks that were going to support other soup kitchens so he could pay almost nothing for his kitchens operations. So it does mater a little bit. But in general I agree whole heartedly that as long as they are doing it lawfully and it supports those in need. I don't care if there are alterior motives involved. (This is very short snippet and is in no way the full story of Al Capones soup kitchen I would recommend researching it)

I'm still completely bewildered by the people who were upset that Mr beast was helping build wells. Especially as someone who was a part of the huge chunk of the fallout 3 community that was responsible for Project Purity, a massively successful charity movement that was focused on making clean drinking water accessible for communities that needed it. I don't remember even hearing anything about any negative reception when when we were doing that. and strait up, I'm white and I'm pretty sure the guy who started Project Purity was as well, and I can promise the concept of being a "white savior" never crossed our minds because our motivations for doing it in the first place were the games plot getting some one interested enough to go learn about clean water access and wanting to help make a difference after discovering how big of an issue it was.
@androzani
@androzani 7 ай бұрын
It's very much a political identity thing. Some social ideologies view charity as immoral because it's a choice by the individual and not a responsibility enforced by the people. In other words, the people who get angry about it want to see the social fabric of the nation fall apart and replace with there own ideas, and charity is one of those barriers keeping from that from happening. Either way, independent charities tend to be more successful since the people behind it are more passionate about it and spend less on funding, employment, etc. than government funded ones.

I remember Kony stickera from High school. I graduated in 2007, and I'm pretty sure it was the previous year I remember it from. Can anyone else confirm this? Was there a Kony awareness campaign in the 00's?

I dont think so, I know the armed groups with children soldiers made it into the news before that, but I don't remember any awareness campaigns specifically for Kony before 2012, but its possible I guess.

cringe activist musicals were all the rage in the 90s. I think it peaked at High School Musical though.

he had a noble goal, but everything were just a feel good first world campaign about how pitiful a developing country is, without anyone actually doing anything meaningful its basically what most donation foundations are, they collect your money so you can feel good about yourself

Just like the blindness and deafness things with Mr. Beast, i shall reiterate: NOBODY IS MAD MR BEAST IS DOING GOOD THINGS, COMMON SENSE IS A THING. What we ARE mad about is the fact that he had to do it in the first place. He shouldn’t have had to build those wells, they should’ve already been there and implemented by government officials. The fact that Mr. Beast stepped in and did it is obviously great, but the fact that people were just sitting on their asses not doing anything while some random youtuber from a different continent comes in and single handedly saves these kids is upsetting.
