So just found out that the 8th is a par 5, my golf watch lied to me! It makes sense as that would make it a very difficult par 4 looking back. 😂 So nice to play great courses now the weather is getting better here in the UK. Plenty more coming regularly from now on!

I’m sure you already know, but in the bunker, you decelerated through the ball: a sure sign of lack of confidence. Interesting what you said about wanting to feel confident. Next time you stand in a bunker, do exactly that. Don’t focus on technique in any way, just focus on how close you are going to get the ball and nothing else. Easier said than down I know, but you will improve hugely very quickly. Great channel

If you want to improve your bunker play, watch Pete Cowen’s “ripple effect” bunker lessons. From practicing his method, I’ve gone from happy to get out and reasonably close, now I’m disappointed if I don’t hole out. It’s a must watch if you struggle from bunkers

Is that pen drop from the water not your 4th shot? If you played again from the tee you’d be playing your third. Not sure about the rules tbf.

If it’s red stakes (water hazard) you can take a penalty drop from the direction it went in but no closer to the hole. I could take it from the tee again if I wanted but it would still be my third shot so it makes more sense to take a penalty drop. If it’s out of bounds (white stakes) you have no choice but take your tee shot again.

Does 12 handicap mean usually you score 12 over par?

Well technically yes. However handicap is supposed to be what you score on a very good day over 18 holes, most golfers rarely play to their handicap, usually a few shots over. If you consistently play better than your handicap it will drop, then the opposite is true if you consistently play worse than it.

Still got it in the bag mate, just my 4 iron is new with the irons I have now so I get that out a fair few times. Maybe I should do an updated what’s in the bag? 🤔

I use a program call Shot Tracer Pro, you can get it on Mac/PC but there’s also an app too

Good video 👍 I’d say if you started using a 3 or 5 wood off the tees on the tight holes you will see your scores drop dramatically, that’s what happened in my case. There is no need for a mid handicapper to be hitting a 4 iron, it will not give you enough consistency and could leave you too far back on the short holes. It would be go to see you tackle this course using an aggressive strategy and see how the scores differ. Keep up the good work 👍

I’m definitely coming back to this course again in the summer so looking forward to playing it learning what I do now because I agree I could have been more aggressive on the tee on some holes 👍
