Oh i love a cheapie. That Micra sounds brilliant. The same 1.5dCi engine as the Clio which seems to go on forever. 306s were always good to drive.Check the rear arches haven't rotted on the inside by pulling away the boot carpet

We had a Citroen Synergie ( remember those? ) MPV with the 1.9td XUD. We managed over 50k on Aldi & Lidl veg oil when it was 40p a litre. A tenner would get us, 3 kids, dog & all our camping gear to Yarmouth from Nottingham. This was when cars were fun.

i miss buying cheap and running them into the ground ,once had a vw polo in the early 80s with an tin under the bonnet to collect the oil from the breather cap and then put it back into the engine every 100 miles or so bought it for £25 quid and used it for months, eventually abandoned it in mcr airport when i went abroad for a season

My friend had one of the fancy 306 Turbo diesel went like like hell common rail I think. The engine blew up he put another engine in but it was the much slower indestructible low pressure turbo version it was only a little faster than the non turbo.

Quality O.G....306...had a customer with a 405 estate with the same engine...used to drive from Westbury Wiltshire to reading every day there and back ... about 100 miles plus a day...308000 miles and kept going...didn't need a clutch till over 240 k... he said it was cheaper than a train card...used local Peugeot dealers from new...was still on the road until 2016 ..possibly still is...car equivalent to a Nokia 3310...indestructible 😅😅😅😅😅😅

I had a 1996 306 1.9 diesel ( no turbo) it was fantastic… surprisingly quick, pretty bullet proof…. But blew rear light bulbs regularly

My dad has a 2009 Grand Picasso 1.6 HDI with 260,000 miles on the clock. Sills have gone quite rusty and half the front end doesn't know what clearcoat is any more, it possibly has one more MOT pass left in it at this point. My first car was a 306 HDI Dturbo 3-door. Perhaps not quite as solid as the 1.9, but it never put a foot wrong from 100-155k miles when I switched to an E46 330d which I've also taken from 94k to 212k miles with no engine trouble. I still look back on the 306 very fondly and I still have a full spare set of 15 inch 'Cyclone' alloy wheels, as seen in the video, even though I haven't had the 306 for 10 years 😂

I sometimes find with the smooth finish black plastics you can actually buff them shiny with some polish that has a bit of cut in it rather than trying to recolour them. Usually lasts longer than coatings.

@@chrishart8548 Sorry, but I don't agree. I bought a new Focus in 2000. It went to 100,000 miles with only a couple of minor problems. It was written off in an accident in 2009, so I replaced it with an '03 Focus. I kept that until 2016, then passed it on to a family member. It is now being driven by another family member, and is of course 21 years old. It's had a clutch, and some bits of rear suspension replaced, but is still ultra reliable, in spite of it being driven now by a young person who treats it terribly! In 2016 I bought a 2011 Fiesta. I had to replace the clutch recently as the slave was leaking, but otherwise it's been faultless, and now 13 years old. Cars of the 60s, 70s and 80s would simply not have survived in this way.

Great video bud, astra will be the box, very common, used to be hard to get a good used box, I've had em rebuilt, 650 tho, if the micra and 307 go OK just punt them out as they are, if you've spent 200 quid each put them up at 695 each, as Mike brewer said to you, why walk away from profit? Just make sure they know it's bargain corner strictly as is.

Try using a blow torch on the plastics CARFULLY. It will bring out oil in the plastic then just silicone shine. Try an old piece first! 👍

You've got to watch out for the Bluetooth in the Picasso - if it's the same system as the C4 of the same vintage, it doesn't work with iPhones. Some sort of software conflict that happened with an iOS update some time back that never got fixed. It will seem to connect initially but won't hold the connection for more than minute or so. Very frustrating!

All these older cars just break and have to be scrapped though. A cheap car is no good if you can't even use it. And the price of repairs is crazy now garages don't even want the work. I know it's cheaper than buying a brand new car, but cars now become uneconomical to repair so easily now.
