In addition to this, F1 is so safe now that any divebombs won’t result in physical harm to either driver, so anything goes. The worst thing in F1 IMO isn’t divebombing as such, but crowding cars off the circuit, as Jimmy says in the second video.

I was the 9 car at 16:40 and by now have realized how dumb that 10 car was. originally I thought he lost control at the end of the hairpin and cam across the track trying to save it and didn't even begin to think it was deliberate blocking. and was trying to learn from the situation as almost all of my simracing had been against ai before that point and was still figuring out how to race around other people but im glad we can all laugh at the 10 car together now, Also having been watching jimmy for somewhere around 4 years now I never thought I would find my way into a video so that was a fun experience to open the video and see my clip right at the beginning.

@@RobertDoornbosF1 This is a casual take, for every battle he's had with Verstappen (roughly 2018 to now) he's only been at fault for 1 (Max 2 if you blame him for Jeddah) incidents. The only poor season he's had driving-wise was '11, he's was clean as soon as he joined F1 and has (minus a season and sporadic incidents) been clean throughout his career.

Something else at 20:05 that I think is worth mentioning is the fact that the Aston is only where he ends up because he cut the corner. The Porsche driver is doing the right thing by taking a tighter line so as to not hit the Lambo, but still hits the apex. There is only one way which the Aston could get past, by slowing down and trying to switchback into the next corner, but he starts turning in way too early, almost desperately trying to stay in the mix, and that’s why he was even there in the first place.

Nahh, mistakes can be made intentionally. Unintentional mistake is an accident. For example, ramming is basically doing a mistake on purpose. Drunk driving is a mistake and people know that but some do it anyways. Keiichi Tsuchiya had to make mistakes intentionally when portraying as a newbie driver in F&F Tokyo Drift movie. Even maps often include intentional mistakes to catch other map makers for copying.

Like if you intentionally ram somebody its not a mistake you're just ramming, your choosing to commit the action. i don't know, I've read from some driver interviews, i think maybe leclerc, that the current cars kinda spin out suddenly as compared to previous years. Could be misrembering, as we've definitely seen some a couple saves. But also some good binnings, like sainz and verstappen in the gravel in the same race last year because of wind, and max spinning after passing leclerc then passing him again. Haven't played the F1 game or assetto corsa tho.

My thoughts on the clip at 9:07 . Obviously the porsche goes wide, but the overtaking car should have left more room for netcode and passed safely. When the one piece decorated porsche is at full throttle, it is pointed straight out of the exit of the turn with minimal steering angle. Watching closely it doesnt seem like theres any oversteer until the nissan makes contact. Perhaps the full throttle caused some wheel spin but again, looks like the oversteer started after contact. I interpret this as the nissan shouldve let the porsche wheelspin in a straight line out of the turn exit and pass safely, 9:44 looks like they couldve gave more room but straightened out on the exit almost like there was no car on the outside. The porsche could improve their apexing on that corner, but they didnt deserve contact even if they were wheel spinning straight out of the turn exit. Open to constructive criticism and other interpretations :)

About the Porsche GT7 clip. I have always stood by that if you make a mistake that causes you to go off line to almost treat it like a circuit rejoin. Too many people go wide on entry or exit then hurry back to the racing line 10-20 mph slower than normal and just expect overtaking cars to either back out or take avoiding action, especially in 1 lane corners and in games like gt7 that have strict contact penalties they use it as an exploit.

I can see why you're animated at the injustice at 21:00. It's horrible when you're blamed for an accident that wasn't your fault. One incident still sticks in the mind from Forza on the 360 years ago when I was kicked from a lobby for allegedly causing the obligatory Forza T1 pileup when I was nowhere near the accident. I had a tactic on Forza where I'd hang back at the start and see how many crashed out on T1 before weaving my way through the wreckage.

For the crash at the kink, I would say that he reacted late because it's the kink. If he reacted sooner, the rear would smack that outside wall pretty hard. That's part of the reason why that corner is so difficult, cause any sudden movements mean death. If you look, it looks as if his steering wheel flinched much sooner than he reacted, showing that he was reacting, but he kinda lost the rear end of it a bit once he did react. That loss of grip just would've been sooner if he reacted sooner. I mean I've gone to RA a dozen times irl and something like this always happens each year in at least one of the sessions. It's just an unfortunate set of circumstances in my eyes. Nature of the corner.

Porsche out braked himself into the corner you could almost consider his correction a re-entry to the racetrack. That's how bad he braked into the corner. Dude was off line, under speed, and tries to maneuver his car back on to the racing line which he lost by his own mistake - in order to block the following car. GTR did nothing wrong.

Here are my thoughts around the @11:00 minutes mark: - If it were a wall, that squeeze would have been a crash - since there isn't a wall, gravel or grass there, we generally consider tarmac escape areas as fair because the driver can keep control, stability and momentum - however, like in Hockenheim stadium with camber and Austria's turn 1 with sausage kerbs damaging the undertray of Leclerc in 2019, there are some cases a squeeze can unfairly hurt another driver's ability to maintain control in my opinion, forcing a formula car to ride on that kerb while turning can be such a case that counts similar to forcing a stock car to grind against a wall, in terms of loosing momentum and stability although i don't believe the Ferrari player had the intention or control to cause it on purpose, it would be fairplay to return the position in race when alerted by radio as for in game, there is no one on the radio to give such a fine alert and net code can make a squeeze look way harder than it was, so i'd say racing incident for the video

9:00 me being a gt7 sim racer, I can tell that the Porsche did in fact begin wheelspinning. However that doesn't mean that it will start to oversteer, sometimes you can keep it perfectly straight while wheelspinning (toe in helps). But my final verdict is that the gtr ever so lightly tapped the Porsche's rear (which had reduced grip at the time because of wheelspinning) which sent the Porsche sideways. GTR at Fault!

About 21:30 with Mercedes and Redbull: Before the 50m board breaking reference, the Mercedes is fully ahead and has room to run wide. In fact, the Redbull has to consider wether to cross paths and take the inside or try to run around the outside depending on the car ahead outbreaking itself or line choice. The Mercedes was close enough to the inside to avoid crossing lines while keeping an advantage for the next corner to the opposite side. If the Redbull went just a bit wider there would be no contact and the next corner would invert the situation for those 2. In the end it was a racing incident in my opinion as both cars had margin to avoid immediate contact and both tested their luck trying to get a little better positioned for the next corner to decide the move on the exit of turn 2. By the way, had they not collided, it would be very similar to the incident at 11:00 minutes.

Not sure if this was mentioned re: grampaspace at Barcelona turn 10, but Nico Rosberg explains on his Track Guide series that the wind is consistently working against you on that exit, and wheel spin when you’re that far on the exit kerb is practically imminent. Pretty sure the F1 drivers map the diff to change here fairly drastically. Not sure if GT3 cars would be more or less affected by this or if sims are also accounting for it. Interesting tho either way! Another great video Jimmy!

GT3 cars would most likely be affected way less as they don't have as much downforce and don't have so many different panels on the car directing the air in specific ways. Also while I'm not 100% sure I very very much doubt that the game would be accounting for that .

8:45 - My incident A bit of context: The blue Nissan GTR dude has been spotted in previous races taking drivers out. What happened is that I broke too late and went too wide while still being in the race. While driving it felt that there was contact which made me spin that way.. Honestly the replay didn't do me any justice and it does seem like I span out. Now you made me second guess myself.. lol Either way, I've learnt my lesson from back then and I'm trying my best to keep away from drivers and put less throttle on corner exits. I believe the second angle clearly shows the tag *then* the spin. The GTR also rotates at the exact moment so there is definitely contact. Even if you were a little hasty on the throttle it could have been saveable but not with a GTR at your rear 1/4.

10:40 I wish we could see driver inputs here, because that wheel-on-wheel contact could have caused the Red Bull driver to countersteer to push back against the Ferrari, which would have triggered the spinout as soon as the contact ended. I see why Jimmy called it as he did, but I would have given fault to the Ferrari because contact was made, the Ferrari was in the process of squeezing the Red Bull out, and the spin happened immediately after the moment of contact ended. The Ferrari may not have been the sole cause, but it was the primary cause IMO.

I think more than anything is the physics of F1 2022 being very unpredictable, in my experience, when you get on the throttle it feels nice and grippy then suddenly you loose complete traction in a split second, and doing the exact same thing does not react the exact same way.

I hope people see these videos as Jimmy trying to explain what you can and cannot do and not Jimmy shames people for 25 minutes! The way he explains his reasoning and thought process makes it so it’s a lesson to be learn and not a belittling of the drivers in these videos. Unless you’re an absolute helmet like that #10 Miata. Hey Jimmy, thanks for reacting on my post at 15:17, I want to clarify that I kinda misunderstood the weaving rule in f1, at that point I thought it’s ok to do a few weave down the long straight with also the fact that the RB was almost a second behind, and I kinda only did 2 weave, the last was was just trying to not go off the circuit, it looked like a weave coz the controls in that game is just horrendous for controllers. however if the RB was a bit closer, then I’ll understand the potential and would consider of my weaving, anyway thanks for your view as it helps me to clear out the confusion over the comments, I rather trust a real racing driver than some random kids on Reddit

I would say the McLaren weaving at 15:45 is fine because they are trying to break the tow, not trying to block the other car where it would then be wrong to do. That's my opinion though.

It's Penalty points. The league I'm in is doing a full series with research points and upgrade trees, 100+ upgrades. It's fantastic. the racing is good but the beauty is how invested we all are. It's all we talk about now. The shit talking, the speculation about upgrades, trying to tease information from each other. Cars going from slow as anything to super quick because they've made good choices. My team has made bad choices so far and the car can only be called cursed, but I'm still loving it. By far the best thing I've ever done in sim racing. They've captured something that's just absolute pure magic.

Jimmy 1lpp means one license penalty point and almost all leagues have them. If u exceed a certain amount you either get a quali ban or a race ban

space is important but also contextual. If you’re committed to the inside and brake late (but make the apex) your speed may not allow you to keep on the inside if someone last minute dive bombs down the outside. The opposite isn’t true though - if you’re aiming outside you can back off and go further off if needed to avoid an accident. I see a lot of sim racing where sometimes it feels like people think the track is split down the middle and you stick to your bit. When you’re established side by side thats ok but iniitial coming together isn’t necessarily so

if you’re making a move down the inside you have to make sure you’re able to make the corner *and* leave space on the outside for the defending car. If you’re making a move on the outside, you need to leave space on the inside but expect to stay very wide and be aware the inside car may not be able to stay tight.
