@SharonYoung21 күн бұрын
I think the biggest factor in the mulch vs not mulch argument is whether the property is occupied. Most of the American disaster cleanup videos I see are abandoned properties - the homeowner died, left, etc. and the property is overgrown but nobody is living in the house. So mulching isn't really a problem because there isn't anybody there. The cleanup is meant to improve drainage, restore sidewalk access, improve the neighborhood look, get rid of places where pests can breed (think mosquitos etc.) and isn't about making life better for an actual homeowner. But most of the Aussie videos are a homeowner sends out a cry for help, and the lawn care masters restore the property to a livable state, which involves removing green waste. I didn't really think about the distinction until now, just thought it was an Aussie thing to get rid of the green waste, but it occurred to me that it really does matter if the property is occupied or not. Thanks for pointing that out, especially the fact that if the lawn is that overgrown, the mulch involved will be quite substantial.

Yet, there are 3 American you tubers whom I won’t watch because they don't clean up anything. They just mow, and yes it looks good, but isn’t. Don’t change, George! Love your channel.
@aledajohnson443620 күн бұрын
As to the remove the clippings or not issue, I leave them on a regularly mowed lawn as it builds soil & helps retain moisture, but that is just a skiff of clippings each time. I hate to see the thick layers of clippings from a badly overgrown lawn left to choke any new growth. I understand that for the times when the job is being done no charge on an abandoned property the clippings may be left to reduce costs to the volunteer, but I love to see them removed. Thanks for doing such good work!
@edsirvio639620 күн бұрын
My vote would be to continue to remove all of the green waste, even though it takes a bit longer the end result is much better, not only for the look of the lawn but also that you are not damaging the lawn below all of the clippings, it prevents sunlight from getting down to the roots of the lawn. Yet another great transformation, Happy Holidays to both you and Steve and your families.

George you and StevO did an excellent job. The backyard looks great. As other subscribers I prefer to have grass clippings raked and removed or have lawnmower bag, to me it’s like washing your hair and not brushing it out. Other KZbinrs in America do these overgrown yards and say the grass clippings can be mulch, BUT NOT WHEN YOU HAVE 3-5 inches high or higher. There is one guy that is hitting strong Midlife Stockman in America, he is also great. In England you have Ben from Flawless he is great. Mowing for Mental Health with Tyler he is also great. You all have your own take and that is great. Thank you 🙏🏼🌟🌹😊

I can't wait for you to get a ride on mower, our own Tasmanian wonder on a ride on, can you imagine the carnage?? I hope Maxie enjoys the space now. Hope you have got your advent calendar up and running. 😁

Your thoroughness and attention to detail are what set you apart. I get tired of watching sloppy, 1/2 completed jobs done solely to meet content posting requirements. Maybe that’s a big reason why so many do vacant houses…. No one to complain. They would not leave all that on a paid job.

That property was really a beauty. Much more space that typically seen in your videos and what a gorgeous space it could be again if the homeowner wanted to really plan and plant it out. You've given them that opportunity again with a great clean up. I'd never have gotten done as quickly as you two did as I'd have been loving on that sweet Max the whole time. What a handsome boy and so well behaved. I'm sure he'll love his cleaned up space to romp and play in. As to leaving the mulched up cuttings? IF it's an abandoned property that is just being cut down to make it not such an eyesore for the neighborhood it's fine. Otherwise it just comes off as a cheap/lazy way to handle it. If someone cares about the appearance of their property they leaving all the mulched up overgrowth isn't helping. It's so thick that it would take a full season at best to break down and compost into the yard. Plus it's all the woody stems and seed heads in there so you are simply encouraging even more overgrowth. Just a very UNtidy mess. You guys do it right!

Loved the fact that Maxie supervised your work. He did seem to pay especial attention when you were working around the fig but hopefully it is still his favourite spot! I have a ride on for my lawn and it is great - it has a catcher but can also mulch, injecting the clippings into the soil. Although the mulcher doesn't work very well when the ground is dry. Also, I have cut grass longer than in this vid but you have to take care with the longer grass as you can burn out the cutting belt - ask me how I know, lol. I found it best to only have about 1/3 the width of the deck being cut when it was long, took longer but did mean I didn't have expensive repairs.

Other viewers, for George’s sake, please watch the videos without skipping ahead, without skipping the adverts, it puts more cash in his pocket to be able to continue creating the videos we all enjoy. Be advocates, if you watch other similar channels, be sure to give Quick Cuts a plug in their comment sections, that’s how I found Quick Cuts…just be respectful when you do it!
