This Garden Disaster was an Overgrown Jungle | Yard Makeover

Believe it or not, there is a house under all of this mess. Watch me transform another almighty garden disaster from a jungle into an easily maintained yard. This one is a continuation of a job I started a couple of episodes ago out the front of the property (link below). As you can see, the ivy and vines are really taking over the side of the property, and it's probably worse than it was out the front. The owner offered to pay me for this job, but told him too just cover the tip fees. All of the labour and a trip to the landfill was about 7 - 8 hours worth of work done for free. Now, I know some of you are going to say, why didn't you do the whole job for free! Well, the simple answer is simple - I need to pay the bills. My channel is small, and I don't get millions of views like some of the bigger channels, allowing me to do all free jobs. Having said that, this channel does have the potential to do all free jobs and I would love to grow into that type of content. A big thank you to all of my members, subscribers, and also regular viewers (but you should subscribe if you haven't already 🙂). This part 2 of 3.

FAQ's:
Q: Where are you located?
A: We are from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia 🦘🦘🦘.
Q: Do you worry about snakes?
A: I have never even seen a snake in over 4 years on the job.
Q: Which equipment do you use?
A: We use mostly STIHL power equipment (battery and petrol) and commercial Honda self-propelled mowers.
Q: How much do the jobs cost?
A: Sorry, I prefer not to talk about costs!
Q: What happened to Nick?
A: Nick was offered a full-time position at his other job as a Political admin!
Q: What happened to Brent?
A: Brent quit at the start of August 2022.
Q: Why don't you use tarps instead of bins?
A: Tarps are too difficult to move through small spaces and lift into the trailer. The same for wheelbarrows, they are only good for unloading the trailer!
Q: Why are the hot water cylinders outside?
A: I'm not really sure to be honest, maybe something to do with space & maintenance, but either way, it really is poor heat efficiency!
Q: Why are you cutting so close to your employee!
A: I'm not cutting too close to my workers, they are standing too close to where I am working! All of my workers have been told numerous times about standing too close to the tools and about the hazards involved!
Q: Why do your workers do all the lifting and carrying?
A: Basically, they are employed to carry things and I pay them well, to do the job required.
Q: You work so well together, how do you do it?
A: That's the magic of editing. My workers are basically given instructions on what to do, I just edit it all out, so the videos look seamless!
Q: Why don't you have help?
A: I've had many problems with employees in the past, so now I work alone.
Q: Why don't you have a ride-on mower?
A: Well, there are a few reasons.
1. Currently, I don't do enough big jobs to justify spending 15k on a good ride on mower.
2. I don't have anywhere to store it.
3. A lot of the properties we do have fences and gates, so you can't actually get a ride-on in there.
4. I don't have the right trailer for a ride on, considering we always take the green waste away.
5. I will get one as soon as all of the above are solved.
Q: What happened to your workers?
A: Because the work is so hard and I expect high standards, most have quit over time. The only exception so far is Nick!

Ha, I laughed to see that the ivy had captured a bbque😳😳😂! Here in north east British Columbia Canada, we plant ivy ( on purpose!) as the “spiller “ in pots, it doesn’t make it through our winters. Also love to grow it inside, in pots…but can really see how invasive and persistent it can be under ideal circumstances!! Wow, you’ve taken on a huge challenge with this property but we know you’ll tackle it with your usual skill, we so enjoy your videos!

What a piece of work that was! Amazing! I agree with you, how can people just let the yard go to that extent. I liked how you paused shortly after cleaning that doorway approach and that narrow section past it, to re-evaluate your method of how to clear rest. I’m always amazed at how your methodological approach to a seemingly daunting task breaks it all down to many small, simple, doable steps to change it from seemingly impossible to simply do-able (not easy! but do-able). Thats why I find watching your work so enjoyable and look forward to each of your videos.

George you are an amazing person! I would run away, but after all, it's your job and you don't run away there :-) What you've demonstrated here is worthy of being entered into the Guinness Book of Records! You had to be extremely patient because ivy is a fierce plant that if left untreated every year will grow in this jungle. It was like watching a horror movie:-) And you washed it well for them. I think he will be your next loyal customer! If you continue on this garden, I won't miss it. But I watch all your videos :-) Have a beautiful positive day, I wish you the best! I would have never asked why you didn't do the whole job for free; you do deserve to make a living, just like everybody else. Yet, this job would have cost over a couple of thousand for any other company, and that's if they would've even taken the job. I can't imagine, regardless, how if the homeowner could pay, why hadn't it been tackled sooner? You did an extraordinary job and I can't wait for another continuation. 👍💖
