I went with the M340i over the M3 to get the sunroof, a towbar and the preheat functionality during the cold winter months. Also, since I'll be using it as a daily driver, I want a car which can also offer some proper comfort. For those who like spending their spare time on tracks though, clearly the M3 is the car to go with.

G8X is way stiffer than G2X.. it's a good looking car but will not perform like G8X when you really start pushing it

if you plan to keep the car, any "stock" M cars holds their resale value better. The 340i is the sensible enthusiast car choice. They are both fast enough to loose your license

You suffer from a lack of hindsight. If you previously owned a M340xi, owning a M3 will be a no brainer. I owned one for 3 1/2 years, before i purchased a M3. Probably you should have done that first. M340xi Hint : - At 128+ miles/hour you start hitting the stability threshold . Confidence takes a dive. - You must always engage sport shift mode even in Eco, Sport and sport +, else you experience a lag. - You will need to top your oil regularly, at least in my experience. - Always have to disengage auto start/Stop every time you start the car (2020 model). - Elephant in the room. I simply got bored of it after reaching its extremes several times. I suppose BMW was just preparing me for the next step. Besides the aforementioned, it was an amazing machine.

had an M340i, which was an okay daily driver. But if you want a fun car to drive, it's not the one for you. The acceleration from 60 to 100 mph is uninspiring. So I switched to an M4 Competition xDrive. I found it more comfortable than the M340i, but the steering in both cars felt numb. I wanted more. I got rid of the M4 and bought a Macan GTS. It was nice, but I missed the speed of the M4. I wanted something with more mechanical feel, more power, and better steering. I ended up with the new M3 CS. I couldn't be happier. The car is epic. I thought $120,000 for an M3 was too much, but after driving it, I realized it's a bargain. If you can find an allocation, you owe it to yourself to get in one.

2020 m340i is better, you’ll go from 68k to 40k and up. you get the classic dash, shift knob, and the dme unlock so you can tune the car. everything else is the same.

Yeah when the M3 came out, so many people hated the front end because of that grill. Personally I never minded it but the M340i just has a more classic BMW look in the front. Every other angle tho, I vote M3
