To me it made sense in the 90's. I watched it back then, I liked it up to the 7th or 8th season (can't remember which). Then I tried watching it again in 2020, didn't hold if for me. I won't say it is shit, but I think it didn't age well. As for Perry, apparently he was not a douche, but he was definitely troubled. Maybe he didn't let that troublesome nature affect people around him, but definitely it did him in. So, requiescat in pace, I say.
