We're back with Imperator: Rome and with forming Gaul. You were all clamouring for more of this forgotten game, so I thought I'd oblige. We need to dodge Rome itself, as well as Carthage as we attempt to play tall initially, trying to burn off aggressive expansion. Despite this, there's a healthy amount of conquest as we go after proto-France!

Im 60 hours into the game now, and I really can't see the importance of forts. While you're at war, you can divide your armies in 2 groups, one that siege enemy territory and the other one that beat up his armies. If im wrong pls explain

@@telko_509say your fighting the Egyptians as an up and coming regional power. The only way to counter their armies is to have all you’re forces in the Levant and meet them head on. But *surprised pikachu face* their 150 ship navy lands 20k troops in the middle of your homeland, roughly 5-6 months March away from the fighting. With no forts damn near every province will be carpet sieged down, making your life a living hell unsieging everything and defeating their stack. With a fort in one province you can slow them down by like 6-7 months giving you enough time to send enough troops to clear the threat. Besides this example forts also serve the purpose of letting you retreat. Say your fighting an enemy and you roll awfully and lose a fight you thought you were going to win. Instead of the enemy army following your decimated corpse of an army to the province they are retreating to and beating them again and again, a fort in the way will allow your army to retreat to a safe tile and regroup. Essentially allowing you more time to fight again. In essence forts are like your get out of jail free card that gives you enough time to deal with otherwise disastrous threats

I love this game, and I'm glad to see it get some representation these days. it's really, really fun and I've sank more time into it than I did with Stellaris, the only other paradox game I bought at launch. I really hope to see more, it's fun seeing youtubers play this because there's (to my knowledge) not really any youtube personalities who have the same kind of intricate knowledge of the game we'd take for granted with an eu4 video, for instance.

Paradox could revive this game, but they can only do so alongside a new DLC, and the DLC should be really good and preferably big to justify that.

Tbh what they should do is something similar to what they did with CK2 when they extended its life. Have Imperator run a “free to play” fortnight or something (week, month, something like that). And then coincide it with a DLC, That DLC doubtlessly ought to be orientated towards the Iberians, Celts, Gaul and Germanics etc.

Laith, you don't actually need war score to white peace. You just need to switch to the offering peace tab when suing for peace and it will show you how much you need for them to accept. Usually they just need low enthusiasm.

Automated armies are derpy as fuck, they'll suicide attack 30k stacks of heavy infantry, cavalry and elephants with no hope of winning.

Building Academies to get more nobles in your cities (especially capital province) is way better for research and import routes, than libraries or marketplaces.

Cos nobles actually generate research like 0.7 per noble, also contribute the most to import trade routes. I like to run 3 academies for most cities especially in capital province for the import trade routes. I think for other cities it's best to go max mills for slaves, max base tax and resource production. Then maybe a couple of cities with forums + barracks, but it's rarely useful because by late game your manpower is never a problem.

Fun history fact: the reason France's national symbol is a rooster is a Latin to French pun, because gallus "rooster", sounds like Gaul. Another fun fact, the symbol od Durham University in the UK is also a rooster, and the man who spent many a sunny afternoon dressed as a giant chicken, gyrating and hip thrusting during university football matches, was our very own Laith.

Friendly reminder you can use an army stack with autopilot stance set to Defend borders to hunt down small stacks of enemies carpet siegeing you down

Laith, pop numbers means nothing if they are not from an integrated culture. Rome can have 3400 pops but how many of those pops are integrated? You can only raise levies from integrated culture pops. It is also important to have your integrated pops be majority freeman since they give you the most manpower. Citizens and tribesmen also give you manpower but not as much as freemen. Anyway, Rome has lots of pops. Whether they are integrated or not, they will cause some pain :D

I bought Imperator Rome last week. I didn't even know it existed. After getting bored of playing Victoria 3. And let me tell you. It's my Paradox favorite game now by far. I know I am biased because I am fascinated by classical antiquity. Greece in particular. I also know the game has some flaws. Automated trading is the more annoying. (Pdx please fix it). But besides that and some minor issues, it's a great and fun game. I wished Paradox didn't abandon the game. I read it was a mess at release but now at patch 2.0.3 (there's even a Beta 2.0.4), it's a great game. I'm developing Sparta and can't stop playing. I just wish Paradox could develop the game further. Also build a new engine as I can find many things common to Crusader kings. it's time to drop Clausewitz Engine and come up with a new one. Finally make a game between 27 B.C. and 827 C.E to make it possible to play from Imperator to Stellaris. Maybe based on Islam. It was their golden age. Keep up the work Paradox. There's no other studio making grand strategy games, so we are totally dependent on you. Guys buy Imperator Rome so Paradox restarts developing it !!!! P.S. - Is there any mod that makes Sparta with 2 kings to be more historically accurate? Paradox take this into account if you (hopefully) pick up the game gain! Thanks
