Bullying is so horrible and so detrimental. I know I hurt a girl in my elementary school because I told her she had cooties. It was in no way like the way kids bully today, but it wasn’t right and I still feel bad for what I did. I did send her a message on Facebook, apologizing fr what said to her. I just sent it through messenger, I didn’t request her to be my friend on Facebook. My heart breaks to this day when I hear about someone being bullied. We had a kid in high school that was bullied, not by me or the people that were my friends, but I heard after we graduated that he killed himself. My heart was broken because if someone, anyone, me could have talked to him maybe he would be here today. He was a good guy. I did not know him that well, RIP Randy.

I will say for story 2, I have experience of being bullied during secondary school as I live in the UK and one of the bullies did message me on Facebook and this was about 10 years ago, and he messaged me saying sorry fir bullying and he felt like a jerk, which did bring up bad memories, but I remember I became a uncle during my time near the end of secondary school in year 10, and I said it's fine, and that I moved on from it and I said I hope he has a great life and just move on about it which at the age of 27, I work in retail and a uncle to 3 nephews and 3 nieces from both of my older sisters and I am happy, and use my experience of being bullied to not let it get to me anymore and treat everyone with respect and stand with people who is being bullied and has been bullied.

About the bully you know? My bully added me to Facebook and he was the first one to make contact and he deeply apologized. He told me what went on and that he changed during High School when we no longer met each other because I changed schools. He was greatly apologetic and told me if I needed anything at all to contact him. He changed and I consider him a very close friend and very happy to talk to him. He's a family man with children he just went through a divorce. But he's with somebody new and he's happy and he works in a detailing company for a cars and trucks. He was actually very nice! Children do cruel things but adults you know grow up most times

There can also be an apology out of respect. As in acknowledging that his actions were hurtful, disrespectful and just saying that he wishes that he hadn't behaved in this way. I think that if he doesn't make it about himself (like how guilty and miserable he feels) it's going to be ok.

Story 2 I got bullied a lot and I have had some apologies over the years. I also became good friends with one of them and she was the worst one because she used to push me, yell at me even harassing me in the change rooms to the point she hurt my wrist making it bleed. I try letting go of the past. Sure at times I wonder if I would be different, if my emotional and confidence had been better if I had not gotten bullied but I can’t change the past I can only live in the now and live for me and not for the memories of young jerks. I take more issues with those that continue to be bullies in their adult life.

@DanielGonzalez-qk6sd
@DanielGonzalez-qk6sd 2 жыл бұрын
Last story: such a bad take by the narrator. So if roles were reversed, the woman would *have* to marry her BF? Is this the belief we are using? If not then why use it here? It is nonsense. The boyfriend set up his boundaries. Much like the stories where the woman is the OP you have always said those boundaries needed to be accepted. So it is no different now. Now if OP *wants* to move with her boyfriend that is *her* choice and she *should* take responsibility for it by paying what she has to pay for. It is not on the boyfriend because it does not sound like he suggested it or is guilting her into coming. It seems OP sees all the benefits and wants to rush (yes she is rushing) into marriage so she can get all these benefits. It is entitled behavior and if she does not back away from the idea, it is a *MASSIVE* red flag for the boyfriend to break up with OP. What OP *should* do is respect her boyfriend’s boundaries and just try it long distance. If long distance does not work then that is unfortunate.
@olgar.6604
@olgar.6604 Жыл бұрын
I agree that long distance is probably the way to go. I think that the question is about determining the situation where it would be acceptable to move with their partner. If you are uprooted and leave everything behind to move with your loved one because of their job, well you should only do that if you are married (and that regardless of gender). Marriage does protect the weaker party (especially in Europe) and when moving to a completely new place, with no job and probably not speaking the local language, you are factually quite dependent on your partner and weaker than them. Being married would bring some balance to this situation.

The first OP's mom is just like one of my aunts. She finds reasons to get angry at and quit speaking to my mom maybe two days after they "make up," which really just means my aunt decides to forgive my mom for whatever false transgression she committed and pretend she didn't disrespect my mom to the fullest. I've been begging my mom to cut her off once and for all for years.

2nd story. This used to be painful to talk about. I have forgiven my bullies over my lifetime. My case hit the papers many years ago though not my face (my parents shielded me from that thankfully.) 2 of them immediately stopped after an incident that put one in the hospital and we didn’t become friends but became civil. 1 found that we shared a love of comic books in high school. Another 2 I beat up in high school (not my proudest moment) and afterwards they stopped. The last 2 I wouldn’t see till after I graduated college as they were expelled and not allowed back into our school district. 1 apparently thought using the stupid nick name they had for me would go over well I actually ignored him. It was my friends that beat the hell out of him and the people with him. I actually tried to stop them and though I am a very strong man and have been very strong most of my life I can’t stop 12 people. 2 of my friends got arrested and one did time for it. The final one I met at our high school reunion. He married a woman I graduated with. We talked and he apologized for what he did. I accepted his apology and forgave him. I may be a staunch atheist but I don’t believe in holding on to grudges. I think the OP needs to just get it out and move on. She may already have forgiven him. Most of my bullies I can’t even remember their names. I will always remember the fight in the bus and feeling like they wanted to kill me.

With a bullying story. I feel he needs to approach this carefully. Like he is walking a tightrope. One wrong move and he will screw up what he wants to achieve. Yeah getting forgiveness shouldn't be on the table however being an adult and owning up to what he did. It might also go the other way. She might be like "Hey look. I appreciate what you did by maning up the way you did." And it might lead to her and the company he works for working together for a long time.

Listen bud, sometimes it's best to bite the bullet and apologise, even if it's out of guilt. If my Bullies apologised, I would forgive them in a heart beat. And in a way I am grateful for it, because it taught me on how to be a better human being. Sure it left a Scar, but I see it as a Medal for surviving such an ordeal and living the happy life that I am doing now. Just apologise mate, rather she accepts it or not is up to her.

BULLY:. As a child I was bullied at home by my parents, siblings, and cousins. I was bullied at school. In High school, I was triple bullied because my parents refused to buy me clothes even at a thrift store because I was overweight. I also was bullied in Christian churches as a young adult. My father once said, " You are still harping on that? Grow up and let it go." I left. My father also stole money from me after promising to return it but when I asked for it, he told me he was keeping it to pay for my place in the house. Note: I helped take care of my sisters' and brother' children. That money would have gotten me a car but his keeping it kept me tied to them because I couldn't drive and he had promised to teach me to drive but they wanted a son to take care of them in their old age after my siblings all became drug and alcohol addicts. And I now have severe PSTD and agoraphobia. I do leave the house but it is very rare and that was true before COVID as well. Bullying is a crime and it needs to be a law in every state. Bullying is now in social media every day because of Darrens and Karens. It must be stopped for everyone's mental health . Bullying causes violence and suicide. Bullyjng never leaves you. I am almost 60 and it I still hurt over it. It has to be stopped.

Story 2: OP, I'd say to tell your boss. And to ask them what they think is the best course of action here. But as someone who used to get bullied herself: in my personal experience, bullies never change when it comes to selfishness. Any apology that you might get as a former victim is more about them then it is about you: It's only about THEIR guilt, never about how you were wronged by them. So from that perspective: the girl probably doesn't want to hear your apology in the first place, so save yourself the trouble and don't message her. It would come off as being a selfish act regardless, since that's exactly what it is. I mean, I wouldn't even bother if an old bully apologized to me: that message would permanently stay on 'read'. Because while my name is on it... That doesn't involve anything about me at all. It's up to YOU to come to peace with your past actions, nobody else. And frankly speaking: it's unfair to try and pawn off that responsibility onto someone else. You can only try and be a better person in the present day, and hope that your old victim has forgiven you. Only time will tell: you would find out if you stayed on the case, but I feel that it would devalue the product since you said that you can't even focus. So for the sake of that girl's business (which she worked hard on), tell your boss and ask what course of action they would find to be best.

If he really wanted to marry OP then why wouldnt he in the circumstance?? I wouldn't go overseas and uproot my entire life without the safety net either.

Because he said he does not want to get married young. He set up a boundary and is sticking to it. What is the issue there? If a woman was on deployment and the OP was the boyfriend would you still keep the same perspective?

Story 2 - wrong wrong wrong. Do not bring it up. You apologizing now is about reliving your guilt, exactly what you say you don't want it to become. Just leave it be. There is no reason to bring up a past better left alone.

Especially since feeling guilty about something you did when you were a literal child is stupid.

Also, I think the narrator is projecting. Like maybe she remembers being in school together cause they are Facebook friends not because she’s holding a grudge.

Story number 3 shows the exact reason why unmarried kids should not live together. I have a degree in sociology and every study I've seen shows that the divorce rate among couples who lived together before they were married is 5 to 10 times higher than those who waited until they were married to move in together. There are some quotable statistics about half of all marriages ending in divorce. That is based on a lie and should be ignored. But if you want to find out the truth, do a search for half of all marriages and in divorce. And you should find the root cause being some stupid statistician who counted the number of marriages in a year and the number of divorces in a year and found that there were half as many divorces as there were marriages. If you think about that, you realize the idiot did not count all of the other marriages that were still in existent from all of history of the living married couples. The fact is that 95% of couples don't get divorced. Just don't move in with some dude because he asks you.

"you don't deserve trouble for something in the past" oh well, tell that to the judge :) On a serious note, you can't decide if something is "in the past" for a person because that might still be bothering them to this day. If the bully moved on doesn't mean that the victim did.
