Truly appreciating all these comments 🙏. And we don’t mind the stated weakness and flaw. We’ll embrace them. We love the weird and wild. It’s a HUGE deal to us that people are discovering LVX’s ease of use. We’re working away and have lots of plans for the future. We’re grateful to be able to keep going. Appreciate you all.

Hey team, thanks for stopping by. Firstly, let me say how much I love the LVX. Not sure if you've caught any of my previous videos on the channel about it? They mostly centre around helping break down how to create sounds with the pedal. I also have new videos out in may/June where I am recreating other pedals on the LVX. All in all imo it's a masterpiece. It was through speaking to different users that I felt like the presets or rather the perceived complexity of them was what is putting some people off...hence the video. Cannot wait to see what you have coming out down the line. As a longtime Meris user, the LVX for me is a quantum leap forward both as a brand and in the industry as a whole. thanks for what you do and an honour to see you hear in the comments on my small but growing channel

Yes I agree, if the presets started simple and gradually incorporated more complexity/options, the preset menu would become quite a sophisticated UX to easily teach players how to use the pedal itself as they progress upwards through the presets. Great idea!

I agree with the general hypothesis. The amount of freedom and flexibility you have to construct your own sounds is off the chain, but so many guitar players seem to want things that are incredibly easy or simple. The first steps I took when buying this pedal: 1. Tour all the presets. Dump the ones I wasn't interested in using MIDI Sysex. Saved a few. Overwrote most slots with a 'Blank' preset. 2. Learned to build a basic delay preset. Standard is really the best place to start. (Don't start with Multi or Multi-Filter.) This does the Keeley Halo 'one tap per side' thing very easily. 3. Tried to recreate sounds from the Polymoon (in-between-delay-and-verb kind of things...some taps, some dimension/diffusion). Admittedly knowing how the Polymoon works gave me a huge head start. But I found my goal was not difficult, despite the LVX not having a tilt-EQ options...what EQ options are there got me more than close enough. It is no exaggeration to say that building simple discrete delays is easy, but building complex reverb-type things with modifiers and multi-tap can be hard. The learning curve between these is quite steep. However, the rewards in what you can do with it in creating beautiful stereo spaces alone is worth the price of admission for me. That is to say nothing of looping, pitch-shifting, cassette, and many other things. It's a gift that keeps on giving.

The LVX is the ultimate delay pedal for me. It does absolutely everything. Ironically, the way I learned this pedal thoroughly while trying to troubleshoot my defective unit with the help of a Meris engineer. You can do so much with it, and it has my Timeline, DD500 and Empress Echo system sitting on the sidelines (I love delays, as it happens). Their support team is incredible, too, and they sorted me out incredibly fast, and without any hassle.

Also worth a mention is I already have experience messing with fx for many years, I’m 57 and been playing since 78, so have had enough time to fathom such as Eventide H3500, and many a Moog synth. I can see how the fantastic amount of options may put some people off but at the same time it simply sounds absolutely amazing so is worthy of the time to fathom out and make it our own. Thus in my opinion is just a strength and only a weakness to kind of artists who are not patient.

I have one myself, I pair it with a zoia, and my 2 lofi pedals the tensor and gen loss mk2. For the type of music that I create as a keyboard player, its the first pedal in my chain, and once you feel exhausted of the stock presets to sit down and just mess with the thing after being previously feeling intimidated, you can recreate LITERALLY anything. Its incredible, theres so many things it can do that my zoia cant do, I often find myself in the magnetic section and messing with the filters and pitch abilites. An expression pedal makes the world of a difference for quick cuts and successions feeling exotic. I think most people look a the LVX as too expensive or worried about there not being enough features and being hard to use. Similar story with the zoia for people that are too scared to learn it. They need to look at what its capable of doing against every other delay pedal, maybe that could expose why its such an incredible piece of gear. I just wish they would make a reverb version or a reverb addition to complement the lvx so you wouldnt be repaying for all those modulation effects and such, only thing I could ever add to my pedal board again would have to be some crazy chase bliss pedal.

That’s so interesting thanks for sharing. I was talking to someone the other day about what meris May do next. if they go down the reverb route it will be interesting to see how they design it and what they would include with the LVX containing so much already. I’m pretty certain there will be a bigger format synth pedal which would be cool. I’m a big chase bliss fan and just grabbed a mood mk2 lots of content coming for that soon. What chase pedal do you have your eye on?

@@nickreesyt an outward v2 successor from Cooper fx, we just got the mood mk2 which makes me want to replace my red panda tensor. I also really want a competitor to the strymon starlab, I tried a dreadbox darkness and loved it but sent it back cause it it was extremely noisy for some reason. I think Joel and his teams Boutique pedal version iteration of that would be absolutely incredible!!! That would be my dream chase bliss pedal. And really sadly, I don't believe it will ever happen unless someone convinces the entire team to do so... My luck sometimes can be crazy, but that? Surely no way.

@@nickreesyt I will counter with this, and this may have already been said. Point is, you can also learn from these presets if you take the time to dive in. If there is a preset that offers a sound that is new or interesting you can learn how they got there. LVX is a great drive pedal. The problem is it LOCKS you into a "chain" instead of being like an HX stomp where you can move things where you want. What meris SHOULD HAVE done was make an HX Stomp Killer for like $900. I own the LVX some days I htin kid never sell, some days I think I kind of want to sell it. @@nickreesyt I might have mentioned the other defect was delay slipping on my unit. Or drifting that was unusable and I sent a video to Meris & my dealer and they sent me a new one. I'm not sure where my unit came from but it looked new but had many issues. The new one I've only used a few times seems to be working but my concern is the longevity and stability of the model and build quality. Once it starts drifting constantly it's unusable. I'm personally not likely to buy another MERIS product again unless they totally reformat the entire workflow. Owned an Enzo and had an extended loan of a polymoon. Both felt like half a product - no pedal I've tried needed midi to use well more than these two - for twice the price. They were absolute pure work to use and whilst both contain great sounds there was zero pleasure involved in finding them on either unit. The LVX looks better but is far too expensive to even consider without a significant try before you buy period from a brand that I now have zero faith in. Great sounds, zero fun. Both pedals actually made me play less because they were on my board.
@nickreesyt
@nickreesyt Жыл бұрын
Hey thanks for the comment. I agree in part. I owned several meris pedals before the LVX, would get some fantastic sounds but the lack of presets meant I lost them as quickly as I found them. The huge preset bank in the LVX solves that issue. Any pedal that makes you play less should not be there for sure…I mean the one thing about the LVX is that you’d sell it for roughly what you bought it for…not sure if there are any stores near you would have it

First I want to say I am enjoying more and more the content you are creating, you are refining your work flow and it shows. Apologies for the long text. Having said that, on the topic of this video, which is what is wrong with the LVX I discern a little here. I do not think it’s unit, I have spent some hours with it and it is awesome, I felt intimidated by it at first, but just like all these multi featured units one has to invest time to get benefits in return. In my case I have spent over 20 hours tweaking knobs and parameters, so to me the problem is the demos out there. While some guys like you get more into the nitty gritty, lots don’t, so it’s not LVX problem, its more about the quality of the content that is being created with it. Finally, I do agree that there should be a mix of more simple things in here so that we had a broad idea of what this marvel can do. On the same token, to each it’s own, if you are spending so much money in it, you wouldn’t expect something so simple. We, consumers / users have to learn to see thinks for what they are, need to learn how to identify the purpose of a product and make a consensual purchase. This is a product intended for experimentation, so let’s just do that, experiment!

Hey Reynel, thanks for your kind words. I’m really trying to up the quality of my videos so appreciate it when people give me their feedback. Like I say in the video the LVX can clearly do it all. But I know several people who have been out off my the content online lots of which samples presets nearly all of which show off some of the amazing things the LVX can do. imo herring lies the issue though, most people want ‘basic’ too and for some there is a perceived gap with the LVX…more like ‘I’m sure it can do a quarter note delay but I’ve not seen anything showing me that’

Duuuuude! 100%! I'm looking at so many delay pedals at the moment (Strymon, Boss 202, Empress Echo, Line6, etc,etc....) and happened across this one. I love all the echo options on it but info I can not find is if it can do a simple delay WITH TONE ADJUSTMENTS. I want to be able to have a setting with your standard analog/tape delay, tone adjustments, trails, etc and be able to swap quickly to another with dotted 1/8th digital, tonal adjustment, etc then swap to those ambients. Now i'm sure this MAY be able to do the simple things as well as the wild stuff but no one has focused much energy on demoing it that way. I'm probably just going to pass on it because of the effort it takes (From what i've been reading here and elsewhere) to make simple presets. This does seem like a monster of a pedal (in a good way) but from what it seems like while checking all these demo videos, there may have been a way they could have simplified SOME of it's process. So still I'm not sold on anything. edit: I've gotta add, the worst and most annoying reverb/echo pedal I've been playing with is the Oceans 12 (Electro Harmonix). Really do not like that pedal and about to list it.

And more awesome would be a customers patch upload/download app like the Sound Source Neuro-app. I will not get down on my knees for the LVX to program it, I have a computer. I think Meris is new to the multi-fx game and not used to the power of such software. All my other digital fx have an editor.

This is the biggest factor holding me back from purchasing an LVX. For the price point, it should have a desktop editor similar to helix or neuro. Dial in presets on the computer, back them up, etc. Their current workflow for backing up presets on a $600 pedal in 2023 is pretty ridiculous... usb... please... for the love of god...

Hey both thanks for taking the time to comment. So there is a file sharing platform here: patchstorage.com/platform/meris-lvx/ not sure if you have seen that already? But ultimately I kind of agree with you both. Honestly I prefer playing with a physical pedal to dial in tones and am not a huge fan of desktop editors, but I totally see how something similar to say the helix would be beneficial. Who knows....maybe its being worked on for the LVX and future releases.......

Honestly, this is me. I’m looking for content and selling my timeline at the same time. Will the LVX sit between the Bigsky MX and H90 or am I wasting my money? My experimental delay has been the Flashback Triple by TC which has 2 dual delay engines that I can run in series or parallel. Whilst I enjoy the sound scapes I’m looking for musically pleasing to the ear in the context of songs.

It’s a beast. If you want something that does delay, delay with almost anything, or no delay and almost everything then you’ll like the LVX. Plus I have over 15 videos showing you how to all that stuff

I've testing it a lot using MIDI CC messages controlling it with an Osmose controlling the Deckard's Dream. If you switch MIDI types on your synth it will go into a dysfunctional mode making random noises and has to be switched off. Odd that there's no way to switch it off. When you turn it off it has no type power down protection and will blast your speakers which is annoying having to cut everything else off and back on just to reset the unit. For the price this should not happen ever! When controlling certain modulation parameters you can get the feedback to go nuts and kill your hearing. On certain CC messaging controlling Flanger I've had it completely shut down. Most of my experimentation has been using the modulation effects. It's a little unpredictable and unstable so they need to fix this but it's a lot of fun also. Cutting the power to the unit should never cause gear and hearing damages and this is a high piece. Or is mine broken?

Did you get any further with this one?

@@nickreesyt I might have mentioned the other defect was delay slipping on my unit. Or drifting that was unusable and I sent a video to Meris & my dealer and they sent me a new one. I'm not sure where my unit came from but it looked new but had many issues. The new one I've only used a few times seems to be working but my concern is the longevity and stability of the model and build quality. Once it starts drifting constantly it's unusable. Hopefully that unit was an isolated case.

I was looking to buy this to use in my studio and with my synths. I liked the sound but I was kind of one of those people that wanted to know if it could also do basic stuff as well as all the crazy wild stuff. Another issue is Meris (and timeline does this too) wasting a WHOLE footswitch as a tap tempo. I have never tap tempoed in my life and Ive owned a ton of high end delays. You cold have 4 presets at the ready but its only 3 on account of the footswtiches. As I said in another comment, LVX is a REALLY good drive pedal.
@nickreesyt
@nickreesyt Жыл бұрын
Hey again G. You make an interesting point…on balance though I think a tap tempo is a must. For example I know guitarists that would not even consider buying a delay pedal if it didn’t have a tap tempo. I’m keen to compare the drives on the LVX to other decorated overdrive pedals etc

I think they nailed it with the proper approach on the new MercuryX Reverb pedal. I'm only halfway through the presets and they are all very useful reverbs. I was expecting a similar approach to the LVX so that was a nice surprise But I was just saying the other day after I dove into the LVX how they really made what I consider to be useless delays for almost every preset (at least for my purposes). They really could use at least 5 or 10 examples of classic delays to build off of rather than forcing us to break down the crazy ones to figure out how to make them usable. On the flip side. Once I started diving in I was able to create my first decent presets that got me to where I want to be fairly easily. Playing with those I was able to really explore where I could take them.
@nickreesyt

Yeh it’s almost like you have to reverse engineer the pedal when it doesn’t need to be that way. I know a few people that bought and then sold because of this issue. They just didn’t want to have to invest the time into and I can’t blame them really. Amazing pedal tho

In truth, 99% of people just want Bread and Butter. That's why there's nothing wrong with the Timeline. 1% want to just noodle on algorithms, possibly with a view to creating commercial "cinematic" themes, but mostly just to amuse themselves at home. What happens you get "bored" of the LVX? Does it get its own defenestration video too just like you did with the TimeLine? TimeLine is still King.

Anyone who buys a $500 delay pedal and are upset that it is doing too much are not buying pedals for the right reasons, It just like your intro to the pedal you basically praised it for the way it looks as if that has anything to do with its performance. I bet if I took a JHS pedal and threw it in a fancy box and bedazzled it and added some lights and gold plating I would seel the shit out of those, actually thanks for this im gonna get started right away "Get Ready World the is coming soon".
