Man I’m a freshman in high school and my outlook on teachers had changed. I’m doing my homework and just binge watching all of your videos. You seriously make me appreciate teachers more, and although I never behaved bad cause I was always a major goody two shoes, I never valued my teachers. Thank you for all you do!

Michelle, take it from an old teacher, 23 years, you have to take care of you. Your sleep has to be a priority, you will always get the stuff done, but not if you get sick or burn out. I love your classroom and 4 th has been my fave!!

I really admire how organized you. I don't think I could be that organized. I'm somewhere in the middle. I organize, but then it because a mess later on and then I reorganize and the cycle starts all over again. Lol.

As far as I'm concerned, the vlogs on Saturday are the ones that I look forward to every week. If you get videos up during the week, that's great. But honestly, I don't necessarily notice if you don't get one up. I would be very disappointed if the weekly vlogs were not so consistent. I get so many ideas and so much inspiration from them each week. For example, this week I was super excited about the idea of students applying for class jobs. I hate managing jobs when there has to be a separate job for every student. I love the idea and I'm going to definitely use it in my classroom this year. Thanks!

Don't forget that making relationships with your co-workers is just as important as putting up labels or organizing. You only get a few chances to go out to dinner/drinks with colleagues but you can put labels on any time!

Oh my gosh, hearing you speak about how this is what teaching should be like was like hearing myself talk! I moved from first grade inner ring suburb St. Louis to third grade Title 1 New Mexico, and it's like two different worlds. No more hitting, so much less backtracking. I just finished week 4 of the same amazing behavior that let's me teach instead of just managing behavior and crises. Here's hoping your year continues with the same productivity and kindness!

I am a third-year first grade teacher and just started watching your videos recently. Where have you been all my life? I would've loved all the advice as a college student and first year teacher. Everything you do is so interesting. It's like a reality tv show for teachers. 😍 I will definitely be staying up-to-date with these from now on. Thanks for sharing with us! Make sure you don't spend your whole weekend on school stuff and do something fun too 😉

I am a social worker from Germany and I really enjoy your vlogs, Michelle! I work at an elementary school (ages 6-11) for children who are very challenged with language (either speaking, writing or both). And seing you be so happy about your new school makes me very happy. I love my job too and seing you both so organized but also exhausted makes me feel understood. We just finished our first week at school too and last night I was completely exhausted. But it's Saturday afternoon now, I'm much better and gonna go out to do some shopping for my kids now. Hope you'll be having a great weekend and get to relax a bit.

I am a senior in high school and I found your channel around the beginning of August. I think it is is a really cool idea for teachers to vlog and show their teaching styles, and how they organize and set up their classrooms. Also, I am interested in being a teacher and your videos have really helped me in the process of figuring out what I want to do in college and for a career. Even though I want to be a high school teacher I still really enjoy your videos. If they are helpful for a high school student, I am most positive they are helping actual teachers out there. Also, I know I have never been one of your students, obviously, but I honestly wish I had a teacher like you in elementary or middle school. My teachers were great, but you just seem like such a fun teacher to have!!!!

I hope the rest of the year is just as good for you!

I agree with your students! You are one of the best teachers ever! A lot of times teachers like you stay in the primary grades. And students in the intermediate grades do not usually get to have the kind of fun while they learn that you did last year with your second graders. I agree! You are one of the best! That's why I watch you.

I have never commented but followed you since June. I have just begun my first year teaching in the UK secondary school after a hard training year where I was moved schools because I wasn't making the progress expected and I was miserable. Granted, I've only been there 3 days but I have lovely classes who have thanked me for their lessons, students who have called me cool and the nicest teacher and I just feel so relieved. If it wasn't for your vlogs and positivity, I probably would have backed out of going into teaching because of the training experience. So thank you Michelle, and I hope the happy time continues! X

You are always so hard on yourself and apologetic about how "you-do-you" and you don't need to be! I was thinking about your first week this week, wondering if you'd have time to vlog, edit, and post for Saturday; and, when I looked this morning, I was SO HAPPY to see that you had. HOWEVER, you need to remember that you're human and that life does (often) get in the way of plans. So....thanks (always) for your consistency, your perseverance; and, your passion. I appreciate what you put in to your job because I know that there are little ones who are being BLESSED by what you do!!

Omgosh let me just say you’re such an inspiration to me and I’m sure I’m not the only one that feels that way. But honestly I’ve had trouble in the past with picking a major in school. Right now I’m 26 and still feel stuck. I’ve watch many of your videos and honestly I’m choosing teaching ec-6 grade. Honestly I’ve thought about the bad things such as dealing with difficult children and so on but let me tell you I’m going to handle it as best as I can. Thank you for your channel and videos. Anyone that dislikes them has a problem because you’re seriously amazing and such a great teacher. The children you teach are amazing to have such a wonderful teacher like you. Please keep continuing on with your videos and teaching. You’re doing such a wonderful job and seriously a blessing. Thank you.

Totally agree with what you said at the end - my first year teaching was so so awful. I was so worried that I made the wrong career choice and had NO idea what else I would do. Then I changed schools, and have now been at that school for 11 years. I love my students, I love what I'm teaching, my admin supports me... and I could teach here forever. It's definitely still challenging and exhausting and heartbreaking at times, cuz teaching is hard! But mostly, I'm happy. And I'm a much better teacher when I'm happy. 😊

Can I say I agree everyone especially teachers should ❤️LOVE❤️ what they do. If you teach and getting dental surgery is more fun then you should consider making a change a seminar, rearrange your classroom, switch schools/ grades whatever! Even if you have tenure teaching should NEVER be torture, kids deserve the best and if you don't feel like you're giving the best change anything! So I'm very glad that you're enjoying it Michelle!

I so understand what you were talking about at the end of this video! I started watching you last year because I was also teaching second (always wanted to teach second grade, too) with a really challenging group of kids. You were saying the same things I was. I was also in a new state, new school, new grade, new home....and it was my 19th year of teaching. I was miserable and considered leaving teaching. But long story short, we moved back home, I'm back at my old school (previously taught 18 years) and teaching kindergarten (previously taught 12 of those 18 years in K) and absolutely loving it! I'm working myself just like you are, but it's like starting over and I know it will get better so I'm ok with that. I've had good years and bad years. The number of good years far outweighs the bad. I think some people make the decision to leave because they've had a bad year, when if they just hang in there, they will find ways to make it better. It's been so worth it! You are right, teaching should not make you feel so defeated! I enjoy watching your vlogs! I do hope you get to that place where you don't have to work so hard! Take care of yourself!

This video made me so happy and I can totally relate to you! My first year of teaching (last year) I taught 2nd grade and I had to leave my previous school due to budget reasons so when I was looking for jobs in summer I was adamant on staying in elementary. Well out of the blue I received a call from a school that is 10 minutes away from me saying that they were interested in speaking to me about a middle school Social Studies position. At first I was hesitant because it was a completely different grade level but I liked that the school is close to me and it is to teach my favorite subject well after meeting with the principal and touring the school I decided to take the position. I am so happy I did the administration is so supportive which is a huge plus :) my colleagues are super nice and the kids respect their teachers. When you mentioned that you are actually teaching and not disciplining I was like "I feel the same way". So just know that even though you may not be dealing with the issues from your previous school that many of us still relate to you :) Have a great school year!

I had hunter boots and I loved them! I wore them in the spring and fall weather and I wore them all winter with the sock inserts ( and I live in Canada) ! I had them for 5 years before I got sick of the colour and they lasted so long and held together so well that I sold them for only $50 cheaper than when I had bought them!! I really hope you love yours and they last just as long as mine did

It's so good to see you so happy, Michelle. I teach a Year 3/4 composite, and they are my favourite little people. They are the perfect mix of enthusiastic about school, independent enough to put wheels on their own ideas, and they still love their teacher. Year 5's and 6's start to get a pre-teen attitude on them. I would happily teach 3/4's forever! And, wow, the sound quality on that new camera is amazing. I hope you absolutely enjoy every moment of that gift to yourself.

Watched the whole thing while I cleaned my room and ate lunch. I'm really happy for you that you found the right grade for you. good luck with everything. And oh, kids don't just say "you're my favorite teacher" to everyone. I remember in grade school I always had 1 favorite. You must be doing something right. :)

I just discovered these youtube blogs and watched the one where a "friend" of yours named "Knuckles" had improved so much. You struggled tremendously but it started with you frustrated and ended with you more optimistic about teaching in the future.

I don't even teach but I just love your videos, I love all the organisational things you show us and the PPT was so good! I think anyone can relate that sometimes you need to make a change because you don't feel happy where you are, it happens in any profession and I am happy your life changed for the better! I will definitely keep watching your videos! Sorry for any mistakes I might made and greetings from Germany xx

Im not a teacher, but instead a college student and I completely understand what you mean when you say you are exhausted when you wake up. Yes, I go to class, but I also have an internship and am involved in several clubs on campus, so I am trying to find a balance because by the end of the day I am so tired and can't get myself to do work.

What you said about spending more of your day teaching rather than disciplining is EXACTLY what I'm looking for in a school. You're happy to go to work every day and that is a BLESSING. Not everyone can say that. I'm really happy that you've found such a good fit. 😃 I'm a teacher in a Title I school (I've only taught in these schools for my entire teaching career to date) and it's wearing down my spirit. The behavior, the lack of consequences, the apathy, the over-sized classes, the lack of space and resources, the excessive demands...I could go on and on. I'm always incredibly stressed and it's making me hate my job. This is not what I envisioned when I decided to be a teacher and I'm heartbroken. I'm only a couple of years older than you, but I'm really becoming disillusioned with the profession. Friends are telling me to switch professions now while I'm still in my 20s and young enough to reset. But in my heart, I still like I have more to give as a teacher--if only I can find a better school environment. Great teachers deserve to be in schools where they can flourish and have the freedom to give their students their all. I really hope to follow your footsteps and be in a better place next school year.

I don't know many jobs that require a person to put in so much time outside work hours into their job. you are amazing. All teachers watching this video should know that you are amaZing.

MICHELLE, sweatheart NO: I'm a student and I promise with 100% honesty out of the 11 years of going to school, I hardly had favorite teachers. If I had you as my teacher I would have said the same thing and I would still be thinking of how great a 4th grade teacher I had in 11th grade. We DO NOT say that to every teacher at all!

I know what you mean about upper graders "getting" you better. I started in fifth and was moved down to second, and I really miss feeling like I can be more of myself and be appreciated for that. The little ones just don't quite get that. My goal this year is to be more of myself with the kids and to have more fun with them than I have in past years. I'm glad the grade change is going so well for you!

I can attest to change being good for teachers sometimes. I have taken on both district, grade-level, and teacher position changes (e.g., intervention, specials), and I have gotten a very good idea of what it is that works for me and what doesn't. Congrats on making a change that has gotten you to a better place!

I have been in the same grade for many years (1st grade- 35 years) however, I find that I change things up every year to keep things fresh for me and for my students, even though they are new to me. This year I am starting Morning Meetings and Whole Brain Teaching. I love both! I learn so many new things from the really good vlogs the I watch. I love Pocketful of Primary! She inspires me to be better!
