Just out of curiosity when was this video filmed? Because I’m further south than you in Alberta and it’s freaking hot out 🥵 . I do know the conversion from degrees Fahrenheit to Celsius,, so exactly how cold was it when you were at that gas station that said 12ft 6 inches?? 😊

We aren’t sure what happened. He was the last in the line of 4 and no one witnessed it. He doesn’t remember as he did lose consciousness and had a nasty concussion as well as broken scapula and finger. He was riding a KTM and it was totaled. He was very fortunate and well prepared - he had on excellent safety gear, including an airbag vest!

Thank you for stopping to help the biker. My husband totaled his Harley after being run off IH10 by a 14 year old driver in Louisiana several years ago. Thank God he landed in the grassy median which kept his injuries to a few broken bones. Two nurses on their way to work stopped to help him. In fact one of them called me at work for him to notify me of his accident and assured me he was ok (not severely or critically injured). In fact, she let me talk to him. I hope this biker was ok also.

Ok my theory on the bladder is women strengthen the bladder over our life time of holding it in the car, in lines at venues, just every where, men have no lines and can whip it out in a “emergency” water bottle whatever, so they never wait very long 😂 just sayin!😂😂😂

We're the family the Hanks met, and it was so much fun to meet them! You were both so very kind to us, especially our daughter, Kaylee. Watching you guys and others have so much fun on the road and sharing your experiences has been inspirational and helped to motivate us to sell our house and full-time RV. We've even decided to start our own KZbin channel, Called to Journey, and will go live in a couple of months, starting with our own journey to Alaska. We hope to see you guys out there again!

Hi!! I lived in Destruction Bay in the 50's and 60's when the highway was gravel. We drove regularly from DBay to Whitehorse and back formed support and groceries. The biggest issue back then was the moose!! I returned to the Yukon last year- Aug 22 and drove the entire Alaska Highway to Tok, Alaska. The highway as you encountered it is standard. Repairs and reconstruction are a continuous activity in the summer. FYI, Destruction Bay has two stories as to how it got it's name. First is that Klondike stampeders floating down Kluane Lake got their boats destroyed by a big wind when they reached the bay. Second, and most popular, a construction engineer outfit had it's entire tent camp flattened by a huge wind storm. DBay doesn't get it's name from anything related to highway conditions although the section of highway does suffer from frost heaves in the spring!! I am enjoying your reporting of your trip, though!!

Our first trip to AK was 55 years ago in a short-bed step side GMC 350 V6 (yes - V6) pulling a 16' Aristocrat Lo-Liner. Tow vehicles, RVs, and road conditions have all dramatically changed! We took 6 spare tires with us for the truck and trailer and used all 6. We are now living vicariously through you two. 🙂

History lesson from a Yukoner - Destruction Bay on Kluane Lake was named as such because during WW2 the American Army was building the Alaska (Alcan) Highway and they constructed some buildings at the bay and a storm came off the lake and blew down the buildings. When you get to Alaska check your axles - a friend drove up a few years ago and they arrived with a bent axle on their trailer. Take it easy. Have fun!

Love love love this adventure with you guys! Hit bad roads and road construction in IN or OH on the way to CT for our son’s college graduation. Got to our first campground for an overnight stay on our 1,200 mile journey from Columbia, MO to New Haven, CT and while trying to put in our X chocks…BAM 💥 BROKEN LEAF SPRING!!! We weren’t about to miss Jared’s graduation…so paid to store the camper in OH, packed the dogs and some personal items and went on to New, Haven. Made it to graduation, but the rest of our trip (NH, VT, NY, OH and home) was cancelled and we camped in central OH waiting for a mobile RV tech to come and weld our leaf spring back together. THAT was the souvenir of our trip.

Ok your heading to Vadez Al from Burwash landing your just starting the bumpy rd. 300 miles of bumps until you hit the Richardson highway then 129 mile of occasional construction.I make this trip every year you know we snow bird out of Alaska. Those frost heaves are actually made because the road is built over perma frost that is because is permanently frozen and the heat from the road is slowly thawing the ground below it believe me that road is a lot better today then it was in the 70’s when I first drove it . Anyways Welcome to Alaska 16:08

Yes Carl, opening the door while driving is not fun for the driver. I had my 8 year old son do that to me on a freeway one time. Good thing the guy in the lane next to us realized what was going on because he couldn’t close the door. Guy slowed down so that I could pull over to the side of the road. Not before I had a near heart attack.

Recently finished my 28 day journey through three time zones (AL-TN-VA-NY-WI-SD-AL) to visit relatives before we all become too old or infirmed for it to happen. Towing my "new" 22' rig with my 2005 1/2 ton Silverado was a good experience without any significant issues (average 11 mpg). Most campsites were pre-reserved, some ad-hoc as were my overnights at a couple of Cracker Barrels and two mooch-docks with bro-in-law (NY) and cousin (SD). Only 2 issues: (1) new starter for tow vehicle "Terry" and (2) house battery in "Max" not fully charging during transit/shore power (bought combo LI/Pb charger to help). 5,410 miles / 100 hours driving = 65 mph. Great trip, now want to wander again...

I live beside the Alaska route coming from Edmonton Alberta way. 20 years ago or more, the vehicles I seen with Alaska plates going back to Alaska looked like old trucks and campers with metal bucket basins and lanterns swinging from the sides. Something like the Beverly Hillbillies show. I often wondered how they make it back. Now these days I see so many huge latest model motorhomes worth hundreds of thousands of dollars towing a pretty expensive vehicle behind them. Some were Cadillac suv's. Lots of plates from California, Texas, and many from the eastern states.

The Glen-Richardson highway had some sections that people had paint sprayed "bump" in the road. I thought yeah, a bump. Well, we both hit the roof of the SUV when we got to it. Frost heave is not a good description. Don't underestimate the roads in Alaska or Canada so far north. They can be treacherous. However, you will never find more scenic drives in your life! The it was paved a bit out of Dawson and around Whitehorse and the nearing the AK border. The "Milepost" was a lifesaver. Loved the Teslin, Yukon area (a lot has changed since then) Fuel was sold by the Imperial gallon (1 imperial gallon to liter = 4.54609 liter / There are 1.20095042 US gallons in an Imperial gallon) at most stations. Along many parts of of the you could see the "old" hwy. Enjoy the journey.

Thankfully we brought extra on everything. The Dempster road is not worth ruining your camper, 4 flats, broken window, glass leak, ruined our generator, ruined all of new tires. They were supposed to be the best. But, we’ve had the best, most enjoyable time. I would do it all over again, in a heartbeat. I was hoping we would cross paths somewhere. Lol Enjoy your time in Alaska, it’s unbelievable how much beauty you can find in one place. Yes, we drove very slow on all of the “washboard roads. Enjoy, be safe. New camper’s and we love it!

We broke our independent suspension in middle of Alaska no-where. Thank goodness hubby is an expert with gorilla tape and wood plank to hold the broken bits out of the way, we were able to hobble into Anchorage.

You guys are doing great. I know a few who’ve made the journey to the North and had broken windshields from stones and damage from those brutal frost heaves.

So we just moved to Fairbanks (Eielson) last month and Whitehorse was one of my favorite stops. Some of my coworkers here have starlink and it works pretty well here. Once you hit the Alaska border, the road is really rough until Tok! beware!

Either highway has its ( literally) ups and downs- you all are brave to be pulling 5th wheel through there- that is why your plug-in kept going off ( maybe) very bumpy roads ( can be an understatement) Thank you for sharing

Yep destruction bay not bad. Road from tok to destruction bay a real challenge, lots of construction. We just completed the cassier from watson lake to stewart and on east to smithers b.c. extra springs be sure to take extra, broke one going over top of the world highway. Watch the lines on the road side to see the frost heaves and whoop te doos, lines crooked slow down. Be safe and enjoy.

I was in Whitehorse 2019 and enjoyed it. I hope you enjoy it. It's a great little town . Are you going to Beaver Creek Yukon if you don't fill at Diesel Station that has an rv park with it. They are known for having water in fuel . I had to have some brake work done. They told me about the fuel. Have fun.

Great job rendering aid. So many nurses would bypass and not stop due to liability. It sucks but it is true. I always stop and for some reason I see quite a few wrecks.

I do underwater inspections and did the Yukon haul road, Tok, Delta Junction, North Pole and lots of other small towns. We weren’t towing a trailer but hit the bumps so hard our drone in its case flew out the truck bed. A hunter found it and called us. Bought dinner for him and his wife. Some nice folks out there. Love watching y’all while we are travel nursing too!

That was a great one Thanks Hanks ❤️… glad u were there to help…suggestion for Dexter. We travel with our dogs (not yet full time) and we bought foam from Walmart think it was 3 inches and put it down in backseat them cover/blanket on top and it helps to keep vibration of the truck or road down for them… you could get it for his cage maybe not as thick and put blanket on top. ❤️🐾

It's very difficult to anticipate what parts you might need on a trip. Our maiden voyage 15 states, 5500 miles we blew a water pumpt off I-10 in the Florida Panhandle. Fortunately, we were on Exit 90? at the time but could not make it to the Loves. Had to get two tow trucks...Second one, this time Texas, 2500 miles. Blew the AC compressor and FAN just as we were pulling into our campsite in Mesa Verde. No tow truck, but $1500.00 later we were able to get back on the road. We are blassed that the break downs happend where they did, coul dhave been a whole lot worse.

Through Tok onto the Richardson Jywy which will take you north to Fairbanks or south to Valdez has frost heaves. They traditionally not marked unless it is really bad. You do need to be aware of them. Depending on which way you head to Anchorage, our roads in Alaska can be a little rough due to ruralness and harsh weather. Best advice after 47 years in Alaska is always look ahead and watch for tire marks on the road. They are a tale tell sign of a good bump. Safe travels and see you at the ralley!
