Because it’s the most likely scenario… the odds of a country just randomly firing the bulk of (or the entirety of) their arsenal is strategically dangerous and reckless with respect to 2nd strike capability or additional deterrence. It’s more likely that a country will utilize a single nuclear device in an attempt to either “escalate to deescalate”, with things spiraling out of control shortly after.

Maybe that's an urban myth in UK, but not USA. I was born in Virginia in 1962 and I remember having to "duck and cover" (i.e. hide under my desk) or being taken into the hallway (I mostly attended a small church school, usually with 90-100 students in 9-10 grades) -- the hallway theoretically gave us more protection from the radiation from the nearby targets. My church school was in Vienna, Virginia -- within 15 miles of the Pentagon and other likely targets in the Washington, D.C. area. Growing up in the D.C. area during the Cold War was a scary reality -- not an urban myth!

I had a dream like that in 1999. I felt the extreme heat on my skin instantaneously and was immediately knocked out of my body and woke up. I was so freaked out by the dream and my adrenaline was rushing I immediately got up and started running across the house. 🤣

My grandfather, God be with him, joined the Irish army on the 8th December 1941, the day after the pearl harbour attack, despite the chequered history of Ireland and Britain he always esteemed the courage of the British people for turning the tide of the war, he served in the congo in 1959 on a peace keeping mission and eventually rose to the rank of colonel and head of the military police, he was a great man. It would take more than one but if Russia used nuclear weapons against us here in the UK they’re not only going to send one of them there would definitely be multiple.. scary stuff also at the same time they not just gonna attack us they would probably attack the most of Europe and the USA at the same time… so basically Apple would go bust and Russia would be completely levelled😂 And if you’ve not already guessed we would all be dead😂
