Happily I live just a mile away from a military base that will undoubtedly be a prime target for a nuclear bomb, so I'm probably not going to know much about it if it ever happens. One minute I'll be going about my normal life, and then within a microsecond I'll be passing through the pearly gates. Frankly, in this situation, I think I'd be one of the lucky ones. @UCaRRFJIEs8EcTLUWOKd2FYg Nope, Jan 13, 2018, how do you think everyone got alerted? It was texted to cell phones, broadcast on TV and radio, and Civil Defense sirens were sounded. Stated "not a drill" and Incoming ICBM. It was a Hawaii Emergency Management Agency communication screw up, and one of the head honchos got fired over it. Thirty eight minutes after the warning the governor issued a retraction and apology. OOPS! Can you imagine the panic that caused to some people? And what is a LOT scarier than that is that there have been nuclear ICBM strikes very nearly launched from the US based on TEST SCENARIOS being wrongly routed to monitors at Cheyenne...that is WAY scarier. Makes you wonder how many times it's happened from the Soviet, now Russian side.
@Schwarzvogel13 жыл бұрын
You are right, Mr. Coulter that alerting everyone isn't particularly difficult. It's alerting them _in a timely fashion_ that's the hard part. Telling everyone in a city that three incoming 800 kT nuclear warheads are 30 minutes away won't do a damn thing for anyone except get a lot of people trampled to death. It's even worse considering that the U.S. has no functioning civil defence program whatsoever. Most of the old fallout shelters in the cities are shuttered permanently, and even if they weren't, they aren't much good against blast damage. Now, if they had least had blast and fallout shelters for say, 50% of the population (like they do in Switzerland, and they did in the USSR), then warning people might be worth something.

@TraumaER4 жыл бұрын
10,000 Subscribers With No Videos Challenge I can run faster than that.
@Schwarzvogel14 жыл бұрын
@@Dazzxp Avangard isn't "much faster" than any ballistic missile--if you think that 4 or 6 miles per second isn't fast, then you must not know how long a mile is, or you really have no concept of speed. If you only understand metric (like most of the world does), that is about 6.4 km per second. Think of a distance that is about six and a half kilometers away, and think of how long it takes you to get there by car. Now imagine being able to travel that distance in one second. That warhead has enough kinetic energy to be an effective weapon even if it were just filled with concrete instead of complex electronics and fissile isotopes. Even if that warhead failed to detonate and simply slammed into the ground, it will still kill a lot of people due to its sheer kinetic energy. Also, Mach 20-27 has been the average speed for the terminal phases of ballistic missile warheads since the days when we used to coat all aircraft and space vehicles in shiny aluminum and CEP was measured in thousands of meters, not tens. What makes Avangard a unique prototype is not its speed, but rather that it can maneuver effectively during the terminal phase--most conventional warheads can't do more than make basic course corrections, but a hypersonic glide vehicle could, in theory, pull up from a dive toward one target, and glide toward another. Ballistic warheads have somewhat predictable trajectories... we've been able to model and predict ballistic trajectories since Newton's time, and probably since the days of Archimedes as well.
