Thank you so much for the comment about respect & compassion for the animal when the sacrifice is necessary. I myself pray for the animals before & after as well as support other animals in my yard w bird feeders water ect, to give back for the gift they have given. I also do a self review why the ebo was necessary in the first place n do the personal work necessary as a way to honor the animal.

I haven’t. I don’t believe there’s anything wrong with our practices. I do believe we should effectuate them in a humane way. I can’t help but believe things such as this are being posted as a selling point rather than religious expression. I usually place the offerings on top of him in the Aladimu fashion unless stipulated otherwise by way of a consult for example. Reason being because you want the Orisha to consume the energy of the offering, which is in reality why we propitiate them, so they in return can provide us with all the positivities of the item being offered.

Years ago I had gotten a cleansing from a babalawo, I was cleaned with a all black bird that looked like a chicken. The only thing is the bird was very skinny so it was hard to tell, the bird seemed noticeably sick and actually even half dead already like it had no strength in its body whatsoever and it was just sitting in some cardboard box for way to long. The bird litterally didn't make a sound or movement and it twitched maybe once and opened its eyes barely, it was almost as if the bird wanted to be taken out of his misery. Lol 🤣🤣😆 does this sound normal?
