PJ S - it’s not exploitation. Wages are indexed for cost of living. And the labor is voluntary, not forced. It’s known as free enterprise. I wish those jobs were in America, given the $389k cost per unit of the A5, however. I live 90 minutes from the HQ in Kalifornia, and my guess is it’s the regulation that drove Icon to fabricate in Mexico. Tesla built their Gigafactory in Nevada rather than adjacent to their factory in Fremont, CA, (which they got so cheap from Toyota that it made sense to build there). Cheers.

I'm just curious.... Did you guys pick Tijuana for less expensive labor or for regulation reasons? I'm genuinely asking, I'm not bashing you for deciding on Mexico for your factory, I'm just curious why you chose Mexico over California. Was it a significant labor cost savings or were California/USA laws the driving force for your decision. Lastly, and I don't expect exact figures, but what percentage difference is labor cost in Tijuana vs. San Diego?

I can't believe that this American company is so tone deaf that they produce a video touting their state of the art manufacturing facility employing 600 workers in Mexico. Plenty of American companies manufacture their products in the US and still manage to profit. This is nothing more than the owners wanting to squeeze every penny out of every dollar of revenue. Sure, we want business owners to make a good return on their investment risk, but the cost to American workers needs to be factored in. This is not a Republican/Democrat issue...this is an American issue. It's way past time for America to disincentivize companies like this from getting away with this practice.

The airplane structure is layed up and bonded in Tijuana, but it completely assembled in Vacaville, Ca.
