I once hiked the rail line they built for the construction of hoover dam. I came out of one of the tunnels and found myself face to face with a goat. He was about 20 feet up the cliff. Took a step toward me. I took a step back and raised my arms and yelled. He turned tail and was 500 feet above me it 10 seconds. The most incredible thing I experienced in Nevada.

One thing that is not very good about hunting them is if you shoot them it’s like an eagle they fall off and everything breaks so you have to find a way to kill them and keep them exactly where they are. Now you have to get to them that’s very hard then get them down

30 years ago I was hiking in the Olympic and some goats visited the camp. They started licking my sweat soaked pack so I put salt on my hand and they licked it off. They have a tongue like 00 sandpaper. No damage done and both of us enjoyed the encounter.

For those who are interested ive hunted mountain goats before. I managed ro kill one with my hoyt ignite a few years ago. We spoted the billy on a tuesday and i was finnaly able to make the kill shot on a saturday. It gets really cold up there and the worst part of all of it is having to hike back down to camp with 200lbs of goat on your back where u can eventually be flown out by a helicopter. Very fun though and i would recommend. It ddnt taste too well when treated like a deer or elk. It has to bee grilled to taste any what decent. There ya go to who those are interested
