I am vegan and I have a beautiful pet rooster that lives inside with me. He gave me so much happiness. I am his mommy since he was a few days old. And he is so big and beautiful and some people told me to sell him to food industry but I am not going to do that ever. He will stay with me all his life and I hope he Will have a beautiful long life.

I doubt anyone would be cold enough to tell you to sell the rooster to the food industry. If you and the rooster are bonded, most would agree for you to keep the rooster no matter what. Vegan or not.

I thought that I was the only person who was so in love with their turkeys. This is very refreshing! I find them fascinating to watch and enjoy photographing them. The best part is that when you talk to them they actually talk back. We have several big Toms and our girls had babies last week so now we have little peepers scrambling around the property. They all love to mingle with the deer on our property as well. There is nothing cuter than seeing little spotted fawns and baby chick turkeys playfully getting acquainted. Thank you for sharing. You are an absolutely delightful woman. Keep up the great work that you do.

I’d love to see video of what you described. I’ve never seen turkeys hanging out with deer. I’ve got deer friends that wander through my property on a regular basis. They’re very curious about my cats but I don’t think they’ve ever seen a turkey.

I actually was approached by one of these several years ago. My Grandparents lived in an area with a wild turkey population and you would see them wondering around the neighborhood, very curious animals and I agree they possess a high intelligence like most birds.

Thankfully, I've never liked turkey (for consumption). I was always a picky/simple eater. Not vegan or anything, but yeah... I was picky/simple. Anyway, whenever I head out to the East Bay to visit a friend, we always end up seeing this lovely family of turkeys just strutting around. They're so sweet.

@@mercyforanimals i wish, but i live in south alabama. Ive been vegan for a year but the only other vegan i know of existing in my area is my friends mom X( i doubt there are any sanctuaries near me to visit. The closest i got is petting a cow at a zoo and giving him figs lol

I had a group of wild turkeys near my parents house follow me whenever I was outside. They would walk with me to Woodland park and they actually attacked a dog that was about to tear my leg open.

Hopefully I won't get too much hate for this... but I am not vegan or vegetarian, but I love all animals regardless. I only accept hunting or processing animals as meat if its respectful to the animal. I do my best to avoid any meat that didn't come from a good farm that cares about their animals because I know just how bad it can be out there for them, and it will never be ok with me. Eating animals might be crude to some, but it is the natural circle of life, even in the animal kingdom. Your not going to convince everyone, so I stand by at least showing the animals you plan on eating respect and kindness and raising them with dignity. The turkey deserves more love than it gets. I am currently planning on raising some as pets alongside chickens, and this video has only solidified that desire. It would be my first time raising something other than chickens, and I'm very excited to get to know how turkeys behave first hand. They seem like such sweet animals, and yet I never see people talking about them. Plenty of blogs about chickens, ducks, even geese, but never turkeys. I can barely get information on them as it is. So thank you for this treat, it has given me a ton of insight that I hope will help me in raising my very own birds.

I've noticed the turkey is the most docile animal on a farm. I want to get turkeys for the eggs. I've a good scather of chickens and the eggs are class. I love them but sometimes we have way too many and if no one will buy them they go into the oven. Poultry in general are awful friendly if they associate you with food or if your imprinted on them

Its more of a glorified jump, but yes, while the meat turkeys are too heavy to do so, wild turkeys and some heritage turkeys can fly into trees and will roost there. Tree roosts are their natural habitat, but you don't want them up there where any birds of prey can get them, so yes, a roof is necessary. Its overall good predator protection to have a roof anyway.
