In India it's normal to clean your behinds using hands with water, however we do have jet spray/hand sprays these days and honestly I can never go back to using hands after the jet sprays, I have heard the portable ones are not that great, but I would prefer it any day over tissues. I have also seen some fixture thing inside the seat area that some toilets have, not favourite but anything over tissues. We do use tissues for drying after.

My in-laws grow bamboo in the backyard to pick the bamboo shoots to eat. Bamboo can be use to make many things and furnitures too. Maybe it depends on what part of Asia and what ethnic type of Asian you’re from. I never heard of the superstition about growing bamboos in the backyard.

Indian weddings are chaotic but in a good way. We invite many people and the actual people are always a lot more lol. But we still don't mind and try to treat everyone fairly. U guys must come to an indian wedding to enjoy the cultural heritage. And indian weddings are not an one day affair, it takes usually 3-4 days, excluding preparation.

We usually plan extra for our events if we invite 500 people we would always prepare meal for 600 or 650. Even the caterers prepare extra always. If we say that we need meal for 500, they would always insist us to go for 600 and they'll make meal for 650.

`*Yup. The remote thing is true. I've been in-charged with wrapping our TV remote since I was 13. 😅😅 `*Yeah, we have outside & inside shoes separately in our household as well. `*EWW... who cooks rice without washing?!!! 😱 `*I don't know about the bamboo thing. Though of all trees, why would you choose bamboo? Why not flowers, fruits or vegetable trees? `*The MAIN reason I would NEVER go to America is they don't wash after using the washroom. GROSS! 🤢 `*We don't use soy sauce in everyday cooking in our country so can't relate. `*It's been more than 8 years we bought our new fridge and we still didn't take the plastic off. `*I personally prefer to take my phone in private. Though the rest of my family doesn't do it. `*Yup, definitely handwashing the dishes. `*Don't invite the neighbors of the relatives, but do invite EVERY relative and neighbors we EVER knew during weddings events. `*Their dinner time table really confused me. I mean how can anyone have dinner before 8.30 pm? Don't they get hungry later at night?

Not upwards, not downwards. The best way to use bidets is front to back (easier for females) or back to front (better for males). And Indians use their hand (usually left) to regulate the flow too, if needed. I'm pretty confident that never once has this messy situation crossed our collective minds!

As a student you could either afford a good whiskey or good food on the weekend... So buy a good whiskey.. get dressed .. pick up a car.. park in any wedding banquet parking, tip out 200-300 to the waiter and your food and service for the night is done.. we would even sometimes give cash gift of say 2100 to the bridegroom (complete strangers) because that would still be way cheaper than the food our entire group.. but there used to be one rule.. never use the main course plates... Because catering is generally per plate basis.. so if you pick up those that going to cost the host..we didn't want that.. so gorge on finger snacks (tens in variety).appetizers. chat corners... Desserts... And you are sorted.. these would still be around 80-90 dishes in variety.. best to go with liquor... Who anyway wants Nan with daaru when you have tikkas..

Basically most of Asian habits are derived from nature (knowingly or unknowingly), like plastics covers extend life of remote etc. so lesser e-waste, less energy and materials consumed in production of replacement. That habit is very very eco-friendly. Toilet papers are necessary for extreme cold weathers especially in old times in under developed Europe. Else water is easy possible in Asia and again is most eco-friendly.

I thought it would be just another random video with just few facts but damn I do relate to it a lot 😂 And achara's inquiry about how to use bidet?? 😂 And you guys don't know snacks?? 😳😳 And yes it's okay to crash in Indian weddings uninvited.. Although I haven't actually seen anyone do it in three idiots way 😂 but yeah if you are a friend of a friend to the relative whose friend is invited to a friend's relative wedding, you are most welcome to attend it.... You guys can't understand what a headache it was for people during covid when there was a government restriction on number of people during events..whom to invite and whom to ignore,But even after understanding the seriousness of situation and people themselves not willing to attend gatherings, the number of invites would still touch the 150- 200 mark because we can't ignore close relatives and that's the number for close relatives.... 😌 Nowadays there is a system of invite's only to few high society weddings (maybe for security reasons or just influenced )but I am pretty sure that even those who are invited also constitute a large number and you can always tag along with someone who is invited..

Something a bit funny to me about this video is how Norway is closer on the Asian side than on the US side. Achara nailed the shoes inside topic. I was actually thinking about when I see Americans lie down on their bed with shoes on. It is crazy to me to do that. I would never just enter a house that I am visiting with my shoes on. Even when I get permission I take mine off. If there is a big hurry so that I would actually be more rude by slowing everyone down, I make that exception. I made it visiting specific, because in my own home I can give my self permission to enter. Like I forgot my wallet and I just need to get it so I can get on with my day. At anothers place I would make the effort regardless of how brief I had to re-enter. I could speak to all of the examples provided, but that would be too much writing. Thanks for the content guys. I am from India and I still remember and regret getting a wedding card invitation when I was in 8 standard. Reason: One of my friend's (hostel mate) elder cousin sister was getting married in another town and I still don't get it how I got invitation for her wedding. I never went to their wedding but just because I got the invitation card my parents prepared a gift for me to present them...damn Crushing a wedding or a baby's first birthday party is okay and welcomed...as we are somehow blessing them. My friends and I did crushed a wedding party, with no gift...(Hostel days) Went there for the food. So we ate and simply shy away 🤣🤣🤣

"Laminating" a couch comes from the habit of protecting the furniture and upholstery from dust in Asia. Since most countries in Asia do not practice living in fully airconditioned interiors, dust settles down in every nook and cranny of the pieces of furniture. It is difficult to get rid of dust from upholstery once it seeps in and much easier to wipe the "laminate" clean. Dust carries mites and harboring them spells ailments. So, it all has to do with hygiene and NOT with a lowly style of living.

In Indian culture, use of bamboo is associated with the ritual of death. It is used for making a kind of stretcher for carrying dead body to the crematorium. That is why Indians do not plant bamboo in their gardens/backyards. But nowadays, this superstition is seen being ignored.

The thing about bamboo is that its believed to house supernatural entities (probably just tales to mess with children). When I was a kid and used to go to my grand-father's place which was located at a place where the road leading up to it had bamboos all around with no street lights either, and at windy nights walking through it was terrifying...😂😂

Bidet sits horizontally with its end on the back edge of your seat, so full water speed will hit a little below the front inside, all you do after that is just wiggle on the water stream, all the water will drop straight down when you wash, no mess at all. I would send a photo if there were a discord

There are hand spray bidets and there are bidets that are installed under the seat, what Asians do with spray bidet is that they spray it with one hand towards the butt, downwards and upwards is just going to create a mess and then they clean their butts with the other hand, you can use soap to and don't need to waste paper that's why you have to wash your hands properly afterwards as well that's just hygiene. The one under the seat is drilled into the seat and just points in a straight line so you only need to use one hand to wipe your butt much like a tissue and can close it with your clean hand where the tap for the bidet is installed. TL;DR use it towards not downwards or upwards and wipe with the free hand, it cleans better than your tissue paper and is more comfortable, wash your hands properly with soap later, its that simple, there won't be a mess that way. Historical context of this practice is that:- Traditionally when the bidets weren't invented people would use bath mugs with handle to pour water clean themselves with soap and then wash hands again with soap, some places still have those made of plastic In Ancient times people had brass, copper or other metallic vessels and used dry sand or leaves to clean themselves when soap wasn't invented as people were down to earth and soil wasn't that contaminated and trees were in abundance, humans were more close to the environment. In some places soil is still used to clean utensils and follow an organic lifestyle because sand has that coarse texture. This is also because paper was a respected commodity and expensive to produce in Asia. People would normally assume paper to be a medium to record knowledge and share information or view it as a scarce resource, and they considered it disrespectful to use paper to wipe their butts as people would normally presume toilet paper and the paper we write on are the same thing due to the high illiteracy rate and also because its unavailability in many Asian countries. Fun fact, Americans used to use Corncobs, coconut shells, snow, hay to wipe their butts before toilet paper was invented and was in surplus supply. This is for those, who are or will be travelling to Asia, even though toilet paper is easily available in Asia nowadays, its still more comfortable to not go that extra mile of travel while travelling.😅

8:15 I can assure you that most of the Indians don't know what bidet is even I didn't know what is bidet like few seconds ago. And the answer to your question, Achara. But I am using known terms/words to me 1) if you are using hand shower then water should go from your front side not from your back side. 2) if you are using a tap you need to sit tap facing your back adjust the water pressure depending upon your need, tap's model, bidet's model etc.., because hand shower's pressure is not too much for human body but can't say the same for the taps because some of the models have heavy water pressure at least some tap models I know are like that anyway. When you are washing, wash it your left but not with the right because in India we consider right hand as food hand and left hand as shitty hand. So I hope this was helpful to you, Achara. If you are not Achara then I still hope this was helpful to you too.
