This video features my commentary and reaction to one of the filthiest games of Blight I've ever seen in a tournament. A reminder that no matter how insane the Survivors are, they'll always look weak against this ridiculous killer (even without his best build or add-ons). Keep in mind that this map also spawned a nasty 4-gen which made things even worse.

@@Konomidebanshouwashikisesuriirc: extremely wonky collisions - like the collision hitbox was twice as wide; and there were a lot more things he slid off of his camera was positioned at his knees, so he couldn't see over loops, and grass interfered with vision sometimes. Also made it harder to follow scratch marks. And a lot of the "blight techs" weren't possible at the time, or just weren't discovered/understood** (**not accurate, corrected by another commenter) I never played during that time, just watched a lot of videos and recall a lot of the community complaints around blight from that time

Even if the killer had already lost by that point, the survivors playing in comms locked themselves in a VERY close 3gen and they still did all gens...If they played more smart, they could've done 2 gens on that side and the killer will probably get at most only 2k. even when he hard tunneled 1 player very early and them giving free hits and hooks just to save her, they still did all gens and could've escaped

I made this suggestion years ago, the only possible way of balancing this game would be to assign killers certain "buckets" of maps. Trapper gets a bucket of maps that are smaller in size, blight and nurse get larger maps. Would obviously take a lot of trial and error but it would make the game so much more enjoyable.

I would love to see you make a video on Wispy, they were phenomenal throughout this tournament, 4ks with 5 gens up as wraith, 4k3s and loads of crazy plays. I casted a lot of their sets, and have to recommend their play.

Wispy used to participate in a tournament group called DeepDarkTournements and I used to play against them before they went pro. They were a decently scary survivor and killer. They were the top player in the tournament at the time. I only ever won against them once before

17:03, Otz, on PC can a killer swing with momentum backwards from the camera? On console I head to the pallet, change course to the other side, then double back hiding my shadow and right before my back shows I lunge camera turning towards the survivor and take the momentum/speed into the pallet and let go early. Idk if this is possible on PC like it is on console with joystick though..

I have been saying for ages, Blight can get speed boost addons, so long as the turning radii for both bumps AND rushes are severely gimped, in relation to how much speed the blight gets per addon. Hugtechs and flicks would never work the same.

I would argue give him speed add-ons base-kit, but SEVERELY hammer those “techs” and exploits. He was always meant to be speedy ping-pong character, but he was never intended to do donuts around loops. Exploits is what breaks blight from being decent character. Sure, community will hate it (because community treats exploits as “skill expression”)…. But the game desperately needs such changes

honestly i feel like it would be a start but i think they would need to tweek his power in some form of way so he’s still not as strong, i’ve seen really good blights use no add ons and still do amazing but his add ons are definitely something they’ll hopefully look at first if they do ever decide to fix him.

@@abbyx-x Part of the problem with some of the strongest killers is that a small tweak to their basekit can turn them from a little OP to being kinda bad. I think Blight without addons is maybe a little strong but the lack of speed makes a lot of the hug techs and whatnot less effective and give survivors more time to react. Kinda like Billy where he is still strong, but not as oppressive as he was when he had charge speed addons

The problem addons aren't even the Blighted Spead ones. The op ones are banned so thats why all comp uses them. Alch Ring and Adren Vial are most needed of a nerf imo.

Even with just speed addons Blight is easily 1 or 2 best killer in the game. He'd still be strong without speed addons but it would be a little more in line with the other killers

Billy has add-ons that boost his movement speed but with longer charging. On the Blight's side, his movement speed-boosting add-ons have no downsides. I suggest adding a downside, perhaps a longer cooldown on his power, to balance these add-ons.

It really isn't op showing per comp. Elysium is just leagues ahead of everyone except Eternal. The average Blight showing is 4k3-4. Don't get me wrong iPic is really good at Blight but if you saw V1's Blight the match prior like I did, you'd understand. V1 didn't flare out and miss a coupld m2s, he didnt look frantic when deciding whether to take chase or patrol gens. Miles ahead imo.

What if they took away one of his rush tokens but kept the total recharge time the same? It's not a perfect solution by any means, but it would keep his loop shenanigans intact whilst nerfing his map mobility (particularly with speed addons, given that the last rush is the longest when using them,) which would also give survivors more of an edge in a post-hit situation. I think that plus an addon rework would probably do a good job of lessening his dominance

I just crossed the six hundred hour mark in DBD and I keep thinking "man I am *not* playing at the amount of hours I have." Some chases I have will end in two seconds - And some I've managed to drag out for the entire game, though it's rare than I would like. So hearing Otz equate 500 hours to being a beginner actually makes me feel a bit better 😅

Blight is the equalizer we deserve, calling him disgusting seems weird. BHVR regularly makes maps worse specifically for Blight because the object hitbox is crazy inconsistent. Instead of aiming to nerf good killers, it's time to start buffing the weak killers instead.

When Otz explained that the formula is complicated on determining length of time it takes to do a task, I’ll break it down and try to explain it. If a gate takes 20 seconds to open, and you do it 9% faster with resilience, you may think it saves you 1.8 seconds. However, it doesn’t save that much time, because you have to think of it like this. If you do a gate 100% faster (twice the speed) it will take 10 seconds. Therefore, the time it saves is actually .9 seconds. It is 9% of the 100% faster speed it how I think of it. Just for anyone who is curious on how perk speeds work. However, Pop Goes the Weasel is different. It is 30% of the current generators progress, so if there was 30% of the generator done, it will remove about 9% of the progress. It’s all complicated, but I hope I explained it enough for a rudimentary understanding.

Because survivors in public matches are much weaker than comp players + if survivors are randoms they have 0 communication and it's literally impossible for them to have even at least 50% of almost any comp team coordination

That would be honestly a genuinely GOOD balance practice. Pretty? Sure. But it would set a good precedent - complain and you will know exactly how much worse it can get. Reminds me of that League of Legends player that complained about a character (Teemo). So, developers just deleted that character from his character select screen, “deleting” the character. It is true that developers should listen to reasonable feedback…. But the people complaining should not be impudent, or else they will become entitled and vile VERY quickly. Both sides did AMAZING. I thought the survivors still had a chance no matter how small. Blight continues to be shown that the basekit is fair and fun, but alc ring and those speed add-ons are stupid strong.

If everything is available for both killer and survs, would the outcome be different? I mean, if survivors were allowed to any perks with no limit and use same characters/skins and killer was allowed to run whatever he wants and use whatever strat he wants

There have been tournaments like that in the past and it usually ended up being nurse, blight and spirit doing fairly well half the time and all the other killers suffering very fast matches. Those top three killers kept the events fun rather than watching a particularly dull escape streak.

Tournaments that are run without restrictions are generally balanced from a statistical perspective. (Average of 2 escapes per match) but aren't as fun for the players or spectators so they aren't run very much.

I understand the whole balance argument where there is such a range between blight/nurse and myers/trapper/clown. The thing is, dbd just isnt meant as a competitive game. The single most important thing imo for a killer to be is fun preferably for both sides. Blight is one of if not the most fun both to play and to face imo so i have 0 issue with him also being very strong. Some of his addons could be messed with but I think his power is the best designed one in the game.

Insider info came out about what the devs are doing with blights addons and theres a pretty big discussion going on with the balancing team about how to better balance them what ive heard is they're actually planning a pretty big nerf for the pig so hopefully that helps out with how strong blights been!

I think we can all agree that the main take away from this video is that Behavior is going to nerf pig
