It's the one thing they need to do. Everything else, just add the ideas that mods already have, change up some mechanics, change the leaders and civs. But overhauling the AI is the one thing that would get me to buy Civ 7

I agree for the most part although i could also see why they like changing everything up to keep things fresh.. I’m still torn about what my favorite version of the game is.. I have a soft spot for 2 being it’s where I started.. However the series seemed to peak around 4-5.. In short I’d like something like Civ 4 gameplay coupled with Civ 5’s UI and with Civ 6’s impressive roster

I disagree... the lack of any official posts, trailers, or gameplay footage leads me to believe that while the game is most certainly in development but no where near complete. Once an official trailer is released it will most likely be at least a year away at that point. it wouldn't make sense to keep the game completely secret and just drop it out of nowhere.

I hope they don't force everyone to update their Direct X drivers to Direct X 12 on Civ VII because I just got this new computer, and Civ VI still won't play on 12. So, I have to play around with that setting. As far as new features, instead of just new wonders being built I'd love to see immigration, and culture events that would randomly come up like, "An influx of immigrants from The Roman Empire have created the pizza in New York." Finally, I think the Fireaxis developers will likely try to incorporate elements from some of their more recent competitor civ builder games like Humankind in such a way that the concepts don't infringe upon protected copyrights etc., just so they don't lose ground to them.

Here is what I think is happening: Civ "Next" is going to be a radical change. Look at what Midnight Suns was to Xcom: No more abstract tiles, physics based destruction, 3rd person exploration, etc. Also several Civ dev vets left to form their own studios. See Old World. I think Firaxis has abandoned tiles, and possibly other abstractions too. It explains the long dev time.

My understanding is that there's no new version of civ 7. The whole gaming industry is shrinking due to post-covid reductions. There's just not enough money for civ 7 afaik

They have a really good shot for the next civ title. With recent devolopments on AI technology they could do wonders. Bu whether or not it is feasible is both up to them and sector standards. They may enhance AI system(optionally) with internet connection. So the AI is actually linked to a server with AI capabilities.

I really hope they upgrade and improve the combat system depth and scope wide. I always played Civ games mainly to wage war and conquer the world. xD Apart from that I hope to see more city customization like anno games, but not with so much micro management later on, after you build them. And also more detailed maps. To actually see cities like in anno for example. but on a world scale. and also have a macro view as it is now. So you can switch depending on what you are trying to do. for example for building, designing cities, war you would use anno view and for strategical movement of a unit, army you could use macro view (as it is now) Also more negotiation options. The game has to allow you to do more stuff in politics as it is in real life. Also you need to be able to "communicate" with the Ai in terms of planning, when you are allied and are preparing to attack the enemy. so you can like make a plan, ok, you attack on that front and do this and that, while i attack on the north flank for example. Or sent reinforcements to this location etc etc etc etc. Also the world needs to have more ai factions that are simoutainly on the map. Also the game needs to include an earth 2024 scenario map.

There needs to be a civ like game that starts you after an apocalypse. You restart humanity and many techs in the tree to revive the land or living space and starting wars is punished hard or you basically have to create reasons for wars or conflict.

Truthfully. With the terrible practice of companies these days announcing games very very early in development, and sometimes the moment a project is green lit, a part of me fears the civ 7 announcment saying "hot off the presses" could have been a reference to it just being greenlit internally. I super duper hope it is already years into the development, but i still dont see it any earlier than teased this year, released next year. Honestly 2026 seems a more likely release date, ESPECIALLY if they try to launch multi platform from the get go. If it is PC only, then 2025 maybe.

@@MultiplayerMedia Mostly because they isolate certain building types and condenses the cities making them more generic. I think one of the biggest challenges in Civ games should be to defend cities and wage war (not forgetting politics, happy people, food, etc.). A big city is harder to defend using the terrain and troops available, to strategically rebuild when destroyed or pillaged and a big city with visually large landmarks adds more personality to the game that lifts Civilization up and away from a tabletop game. I just started Humankind definitly not a perfect game but it's on to something about districts, wonders and city sizes.

I would like districts to be half or a third tiles not full tiles, at a penalty so you can save space and get more total adjacency bonus per hex but less per district. That's the winning compromise imho.

What I hope is that they abolished the terrible builders and slow expansion they did away with in the 6th game. I hope they actually do good with this one. The unhappiness levels that skyrocket from settling an extra city, and the builders dying after 3 turns, along with having to build your own stuff with the builders with no automation really killed it for me.
