The level of detail regarding Jamaica’s seismic past and that of the region is first class. It is important to know where you live, if only to be better prepared. Also it’s worth remembering that a greater amount of precious metals minerals and jams are to be found close to geological faults. What riches are Jamaicans sitting up on?
@Nubia1112 ай бұрын
I agree but the government Jamaica has today, should not be the one to govern them Andrew has been selling out the island and the people for a long time now folks so under a spell thinking he cares when he doesn’t. By 2030 Jamaica will be recolonised and indigenous people will not own anything, if Jamaica continues to keep JLP and PNP in power! We need a new youthful government, tired of these old people dictating and making plans for the next 100 years and they won’t be here to see it through!

Earthquakes affect Jamaica primarily due to its location near the boundary of two major tectonic plates: the Caribbean Plate and the North American Plate. This region is geologically active, making it prone to earthquakes. Jamaica lies near the Enriquillo-Plantain Garden Fault Zone, a major fault system along the boundary between the Caribbean and North American plates.

@LEGENDA0015X2 ай бұрын
And you copy IRIS Earthquake Science video from 2020. Also you miss out a few components. 1. If an earthquake happens in one place it puts a strain on another section of the fault line. 2. It is the same fault that causes the earthquakes in haiti. 2010 7.0 magnitude 2018 5.9 magnitude 2021 7.2 magnitude Since the 2021 earthquake happen close to the end of the peninsula, the next earthquake epicentre can be the sea or in Jamaica.

😳 So even after the man presented you with such valuable information a this you come post? SMH
@TeachDem2 ай бұрын
So back in medieval times those quakes on record were the result of drilling for oil too?
@TeachDem2 ай бұрын
Human activities can in fact trigger crustal movement but it usually involves the disposal of vast amounts of liquid usually wastewater being pumped deep into the crust (fracking) this can cause bedding planes to become lubricated causing parts of the crust to slip or slide. Never heard of drilling resulting in any major seismic activities before though. That said we do neither of these things in Jamaica so there is that.
