We absolutely love Horvat on the islanders. Guy is a natural leader who has picked up the offensive drought. Him and barzal have chemistry the likes of which we haven't seen in decades and it's only 4 games in to 8.5 years together. He's amazing, still cannot believe the Canucks chose Miller over him.

On one hand, I do appreciate that Miller is showing elements of a player who is emotional, a guy who understands the need to win, the need to play well and naturally get frustrated when losing, because let's face it. Losing absolutely sucks. But on the other, this was an example of how NOT to let that out. Deserved penalties for his punching of Maata, which he absolutely did not need to do, and then for lashing out when he was addressed by another player. You have got to learn to control your emotions. It's so easy to say that, but when you're on a mult-season and multi-million contract, you're expected to set better standards than that. Petey is a prime example and exactly why he's capable of being the next captain despite earning WAY less than Miller.

I think maybe it's just because I've heard SO much hate for JT Miller, but at this point I've come back around to liking the guy. He's passionate. I JUST hope he gets along with his teammates, because that's where the real issues would be. I want him playing FOR his teammates, not in spite of them.

What a horrible take. I am not a Canucks fan... but listen to yourself. You answered the question in your very first comments about the play itself as to why Miller was frustrated. And it was a bit more than holding his stick a bit... open your eyes already. " All Matta was doing was holding his stick". News flash... holding the stick is a penalty and perhaps if those penalties were called as well it wouldn't lead to so much frustration. Take your bias glasses off and look at both sides of the play.

Getting frustrated at the holding, sure, that’s human. But punching? At least drop the gloves like a real hockey player. Show some class. Edit: Alright I realize that dropping the gloves with someone like Matta wouldn’t do anything, but at least it would seem as if he has SOME honour. And one instigator penalty (since they probably wouldn’t have fought) would have spared him the added two minute penalty he got here.

@@galenbrewer4147 None with Miller in them that’s for sure. Stick holding should have been a penalty, I agree, but you don’t go sucker punching a guy for it. Certainly not multiple times because the first hit didn’t take him down. I know there are other players who have done this as well but they don’t make a habit of being an asshole to literally everyone on the ice. And I don’t like those who do either.

No JT is the best. Love his attitude. It's called passion. Horvat was a Sedin. He had no on or off. He was a casual captain. And Miller's heart is what's literally guiding the Canucks this season.
