Its a common misconception, but trees don't actually grow "from the bottom up", they grow up and out from the tips. If a tree has a branch that is 5 feet off the ground, that branch will ALWAYS be 5 feet from the ground, it won't gradually get higher and higher up the trunk of the tree as the tree gets taller and taller. _Technically_ that branch will actually appear to be LOWER on the tree as time passes, because although it remains in the same place on the trunk it will hang lower as it increases in diameter. This has been your random, unsolicited arboricultural fact for the day. Thank you for reading it. 👍

The things you can learn from observing nature may be endless... I've recently learned that arguably the greatest rail network system in the world, that of Japan's, was designed by observing mould and it's ability to go places with the most efficient route, you may wonder how efficient that is, well it's not like Japanese folks are fools in engineering, but they ramped efficiency up by more than 120% apparently, and this isn't just improved routing but how fast it can be travelled too, look what we found in Venom, who'd have thought poison can also be a cure, the symbiotic nature of parasites and the list goes on... This is a very cool channel, and it's narration is very easy to listen to, a great blend of fact and humor can only be appreciated.. 👍😃👍

I was fishing a small pond with my Dad when I was about 13-14. We were fishing from the bank as we slowly circled the pond: cast, reel, walk in a relaxed rhythm, occasionally releasing a perch or bluegill. At the narrow end of the pond were a few trees and - wouldn't you know it - my next cast went into a tree. As I was struggling to work it loose, my father reeled in his cast and walked around me to his next spot. As he passed me, he commented, "Fish come down outta them trees real early in the mornin."

i think at 5:31 you meant to say have too few sweat glands. it seemed strange that too many would make them intolerant to heat, so googled water buffalo and sweat glands and i saw references that said they have fewer, which makes more sense. i was wondering if having too much meant they'd build up some kind of toxins on the skin and needed to wash them off, but...maybe it was just a misreading? i hope they don't get eaten by alligators or crocodiles...though..i don't know if they share the same habitats with them. they seem pretty nice but..i wouldn't want to find out they're grumpy with those horns. :-)

I used to get jabuticabas when in season at the farmers market on Sunday mornings in Volcano Village on the Big Island, Hawaii. There was or is a winery up there and they used Jabuticabas in one of their wines.
