Have had a '22 Z900 since Feb. I already have 5K miles on it. Rode it today another 250. This is a superb bike. Instant, smooth power. Had an MT09 and don't miss it. Planning for a 1500 mile jaunt next month. I put a Hepco and Becker Sportrack on it, which replaces the pillion seat at the turn of a key. Installed a Rotopax 2 gal. to the rack, then my 35 liter bag on top. Works nicely. Great video.I agree with everything you said. All I put on was a Leo Vince can. For a slipon it sounds perfect. I'm not into loud bikes. Great to watch a fellow Z9 rider.

@@thatmexican7317 I've had both, started on the Z and now MT. They both have their strengths. Kawasaki's motor is butter, super telepathic in throttle and traction, chassis is confidence inspiring. MT's motor is very wild in a good way, fun, monster midrange for the displacement. A triple is very unique if all people know is twins and fours. Suspension and chassis let it down, that is before the 2021 update.

@@AndrewHartsock I enjoy your videos, Andrew. You really like to get after it, more so than I do. My experience with the standard Z900 is limited to a short but sweet urban demo ride. 600 break in miles on my SE just completed. Seems that the SE soaks up small bumps better. I like the ride very much. Tight, well controlled but not jarring, unless you hit a 2" deep pothole at 70 mph! The fueling on my 2023 model is excellent: sensitive but not snatchy, no surging or hunting at low RPM. I do not have enough experience on various bikes to say that fueling is perfect. But it is better than on my stock motor 2021 Z900 RS. For the round town trips, freeway jaunts, and moderate pace twisty road riding that I do, my 2023 Z900 SE is fantastic. And just look at that stylish machine. Motorcycle nirvana!
@exothermal.sprocket Жыл бұрын
@@AndrewHartsock Pretty much suspension is the main difference. Radial mount front calipers and better suspension components. If the brakes don't bother you on the standard model, swapping fork cartridges and putting a good 3-way shock on the back, you basically have a better suspension than the SE offers. While the SE is an upgrade, the shock is a low-end Ohlins and it's doubtful the spring rates are exactly what I would chose for my own body weight and riding style. I do like the radial mount calipers, and don't know why Kawasaki is still using the Z800 hold-over forks/calipers when the world moved on to radial-mount stuff many years ago.

I have the 2021 Z- 900 as well. It's smooth, great power range, great handling. I put a windscreen on it, and changed tires to the Pirelli Angels. It's a touring tire and much better for inclement roads and weather here in the south. My biggest complaint has been the seat. I just ordered the higher ergonomic seat from Kawasaki. Hope it helps. I'm 5'11" and the seat is a beast. I also installed an Akropovic exhaust and that sounds great. Safe journeys and thanks for the video. 🏍

Hi Andrew, Good video, I have been riding licensed for 52 years, stopped Land Speed Racing in 2021 with a ZX14R to get back to traveling with my Honda VFR1200F,,, problem is,,, putting too many miles on it. So Tuesday I'm driving 500 miles from MO to MS to pick up a great deal on a 2255 mile 2017 Kawasaki Z900 as my secondary back-up mileage bike. I have always ridden Honda, but after the ZX14R, I knew Kawasaki would be a good choice, especially how the Z900 is designed, performs, and yes so many fun things to customize it with. That brings up the question of your bar-end mirrors, who makes them? How did you install them with the stock? Bar end weights. I will subscribe to your channel, I have never written a comment on youtube before,,, so hopefully somehow, someway, maybe you might answer the question, and I will see it. Thanks, Dennis

I think the MT 09 is probably a bit too much of an "animal/hooligan" type of bike compared to this bike. The MT 09 has way more beefy and sharper lower end torque. I am in no way saying in comparison, that the Z900 is sedate compared to the MT 09. Rather it is more of an mature bike than the MT 09. It would be nice if the Z900 came with an Stock Quickshifter. However, I guess that is not such an problem, as you can add an aftermarket Quickshifter.

I think most of the difference could be in the roads the biker is going to ride..in Europe per example the mt09 is king because of the better power at lower and middle range since we drive on smaller road and most of the time have quicker commute, so for you having longer commute that you would of had compared to me in Italy it’s worth a lot more the 4 cylinders..and I’m saying this cause i’m looking at your video and I can’t decide between the both of them..everyone i know is saying go Mt but i look at the curve and front of the kawasaki and woow..

Akrapovic, Arrow, Brock's Performance, Hindle, M4, and SC Project all have full systems for the Z900. The stock headers are small I.D. and hinder good flow. The Z900RS is substantially worse yet with double-wall header pipes with tiny I.D. and bulky weight. As with any engine hardware upgrade, you'll need an ECU reflash to bring that air/fuel ratio back where it needs to be. Stock the air/fuel is lean. Opening up the system will make it really lean (hot temps, imprecise idle, lack of low end response, overheat valves and pistons, shorten engine life).
