Bull riding, exotic street food, shouting in the streets...it's Mexico's Independence Day and this is how they celebrate in Mexico!!
❁❁Please subscribe❁❁ www.youtube.co...
Every year, Mexico celebrates its independence from Spain with fun festivities all across the country. This year, I'm with some friends in Ajijic at Lake Chapala to experience Dia de Independencia 2022.
Granted, Ajijic is a very small town but I had such a fabulous time from our "XYZ" game night to the goosebumps while the crowd yelled "VIVA MEXICO!" Of course, there were certainly some shenanigans mixed in, like stuffing my face with sugar cane and doing a bull ride.
All I can say is that experiences like these are why I live in Mexico!!

Hi, I'm Maddie, former partner of Tangerine Travels, a travel vlog with over 350 videos that I helped build for 4 years to over 250k subscribers. I'm originally from Arizona and have been living in Mexico since 2018. These days, I'm traveling around Mexico, doing the "solo female travel" thing.

Was this fun or what?? Now I'm looking forward to the next Mexican holiday (my personal favorite actually) DIA DE MUERTOS ☠🏵 Don't forget to follow me on the 'gram for updates about my life between videos @tangerinemaddie including by by MAJOR popular demand, more videos of me singing....of course lately it's been with my new favorite singer, Jesus Navarro from REIK. Not going to stop obsessing over his magical buttery voice anytime soon lol

MADDIE that was so much fun. The only time I experienced Mexican Independence Day was at a family resort on Cosumel. There was fun and there were games and a special meal, but it was a bit tame as compared to Mexico City and even Ajijic. Keep the cultural videos coming 🎉

¡¡Muy divertido, tu video Maddie!! Esta es una de las celebraciones más importantes en todo México, y Ajijic no se queda atrás. ¡¡Qué viva y que beba!! this is an expression that we say in the the place where I´m originally from when we make a toast.

I love your videos and have followed you for some time (Tangerine days). I'm excited that you are showing the beauty of Mexico and how much you love it. With that, I have to say, I'm so sad to see Gentrification taking over so many beauty places in Mexico ie Ajijic, Jalisco, Lake Chapala etc. I'm watching this happen in Bucerias, Nayarite and it's heartbreaking. You wouldn't recognize this beautiful beach community anymore. I'm grateful for the beautiful and positive ways you show Mexico 🇲🇽 lindo.

Those sugar canes in the beginning of the video brought me back to childhood. My mom grew sugar canes in the front yard and when they were ripe we ate them. They are delicious but take some work to suck out the juices. Sometimes random people would ask for a sugar cane but we tried to keep them for ourselves because we didn't have that many, haha. I have never been to a Mexican Independence Day celebration in Mexico. That was a beautiful celebration!
