Couldn’t agree more! More than two decades ago I left Durban, South Africa (a sub-tropical paradise I called ‘home’) and emigrated to the UK. It was a massive decision and I left behind friends and family for a ‘better’ life in the UK, but it was hard and I struggled in relationships with cultural differences, and UK never felt like home. I did have an opportunity to emigrate to Australia when my son was very young, but decided to remain in UK and be there for my son. These days I’m too old to emigrate to Australia and similar to yourself I’m a normal person and not a trustifarian, so making a move to start over is more challenging for us. Over the past few years life in the UK hasn’t been great and there’s this growing desire within me to emigrate to warmer climates to enjoy my last few years without over-regulation, government interference and constant grey skies (I live up North). All the best for the future mate and I’m sure your kids will be thankful in time, Merry Christmas to you and your family! 🎅🎄

Yeh was a very different place growing up ..... on a personal level I've never been tied down to a place emotionally or mentally and always felt I'd keep moving to find the right place even from my late teens ... this place here in thailand I've found may also change but it's a good spot for now and I think I'll be gone by the time it changes too much 😀

I have a Filipino friend, his home place looks like something from a dream but he is a nurse in the uk because the money earned is better and he can send money home, I believe he is helping to buy his family home… what a lovely man he is, he has come on some of my KZbin videos this year… there seems to be a big difference in personality of other countries, definitely are nicer. If I could advise you now I would say , Adam whilst emotions are running high at Christmas time to put off big decision making till after. Sorry to hear your family don’t bother with your kids, as I say you are not alone with that, my mum and dad were the same and after COVID the last year of their life I bonded as much as they were capable, then my dad died and then my mum a month after … life can be difficult but you have found your joy and am grateful you share with everyone. Hey bro gaz here from Scotland watched you for years .. your absolutely bang on very lucky man and got his head screwed on.. I bought a van to do some part time van life .. whilst fighting leukaemia/bone marrow transplant.. my ex left me this year in my death bed no excuse or reasons just gone for ever.. I had 2/3 of my kids with me at Xmas and to be honest mate it wasn’t the best .. I am not happy here so depressed the uk is knackered beyond repair.. Forgot to say mate I don’t get in with my mum either or father it’s beyond repair and my kids don’t know them they were bad drinkers violent at that.. I’m 42 years old I am just waiting on the docs giving me the all clear as in remission then am off .. my family I was born in to has gone toxic and my 3 kids are nearly of age to fly over and see me where ever I end up .. true words .. you don’t need a lot in life you just need enough .. I am a joiner layed in bed and not got a clue what to do with my self anymore eat work sleep repeat.. no life for anyone .. bored out my head on the days I’m supposed to be enjoying .. That Oscar winning performance about not going home for Xmas was just unnecessary, yet he sits there crying even though his whole family have told him to stay & try and sort some paperwork out, it’s business and it’s been agreed upon so why is he crying ? Also he begged that ford galaxy under the pretence that he was gonna turn it into a hotel on wheels but just put his scabby old bed in it and carried on as he was, in fact he uses the little car more than the galaxy and that was also free…. He drives to subscribers houses, not to mingle and thank them but to collect free stuff that he’s been offered. Constantly dropping hints on every video about this tent and that pair of boots and lo and behold within a few weeks he’s got them for free. I’ve watched a thousand KZbin travel channels and nobody comes close to this guy in terms of entitlement and begging. It’s embarrassing

Great videos my son, you definitely touched a on a tender spot with me mate. I spent a lot of very happy days on Samui in the early 90s and met some beautiful people both farang and Thai. Used to sink a Kloster beer at Toms Bulldog bar in Chaweng and rented a tiny house along the beach at Nathon back when they had what we called the banana boat from Surat Thani. Chances are far and few between mate and you’re a man that’s learned to spot when they do come round. I’m in the same boat parents wise and everything I’ve got I’ve had to trust the gut and take the chance on my lonesome. Your kids and wife are amazing mate and the fact you’re all singing from the same hymn sheet is a blessing which will still have stress but it makes it less of a burden to navigate so fingers, toes and flaps crossed this trip works out for all of you’s mate. Bless you and your family, love ya loads. You have a wonderful chance to follow your dreams, your wife and kids want to do this as well. Grab it while you have the chance. If it doesn't work out at least you've tried and found out, rather than spend your life wondering what if. It's one Christmas out of many and you can video call your family on the day. I know it's not the same but I've moved my family around a lot, no regrets, till I found somewhere we were happy. stoke on Trent for us. Fingers crossed all goes well. Thailand looks a wonderful place and I bet your wife will be glad to get home and have you all with her.
