exactly, and historically the Patriots are not those other teams. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom to rebuild, Pats have been lucky enough over the years but may need a couple years of rock bottom to get back to where the organization expects to be.

I cant imagine being so arrogant as to act like the draft doesnt matter and calling guys like Drake Maye, Connor Williams, and Marvin Harison Jr "nobodies" and "schmucks". Ive got news for you: the average starting QB in the NFL is taken witht the 11th pick. Not first round QBs. ALL QBS. There are more QBs taken in the top 10 than there are outside of the top 10, more taken in the top 5 than after the 1st round, and more taken #1 overall than taken after the 2nd round. With QBs, you get what you pay for and the price is steep.

I get what Felger is saying. That being said, and this isn't discussed, but it's a top pick in the 2nd and 3rd round and 4th round. I am not saying make this a long term process but if he bashes Belichick for not having a competent offense because the qb is bottom tier (at best) then having a top pick at least allows you a shot at a qb working out. I guess you can do the whole Chiefs trade up for Mahomes but it's a crap shoot. Look, I am a UM fan and McCarthy might come out but he looks like a bust even if selected in the 2nd or 3rd round. It's hard to find a great qb but again a top qb might at least pan out to be middle of the road. Would you rather have Mayfield or Jones. There you go.

Re-sign Michael Onwenu & keep him at RT. Sign FA WR Tee Higgins! Re-sign Pharoah Brown & one other veteran TE either re-signing Hunter Henry or Dalton Schulz. The draft should focus mostly on Ofernse & O-Line

Yeah but when we were middle of the pack, we turned the team over to a rookie QB who was terrible but we only drafted him because he was the only one left at 15. Look how that worked out. Let us suck this year get a young QB that is at least exciting to watch, get an exciting young WR second, sign a few guys, and then we can be mid to okay next year just like you want minus we won’t have Mac the bum next year.

Adam Jones is worse at his job than Mac is at his, I stg. Sometimes I wonder if Mego and Archand are held against their will on that show. They might be trying to tell us, but it’s hard to tell when Jones cuts them off and talks over them 90% of the time. I cannot stand him - he makes that show suffer.

Felger has decided to dig into this obstinant, ideological take that building from the middle is how it's done, and tanking is always bad etc. The Patriots already failed at trying to build from the middle after 4 years, now they have the chance to land an actual franchise QB, not some guy they hoped can be a system game manager (Mac Jones) and whiffed on.. They have no QB on the roster, where will they have a better chance at getting a QB than the top of the draft?

Belichick has cratered this roster so badly that picking a quarterback at the top of the draft is too big of a risk. He'll end up just like Jones while operating in an offense bereft of talent. If they have a top 5 pick, the Patriots may have to trade down and build out the roster with young, elite talent because there are so many holes. People spoke so glowingly about Trey Lance and Zach Wilson just as they currently do about Caleb Williams and Drake Maye. Both prospects are decent, but not exceptional and haven't truly been tested. One is easily affected by external off the field pressure (Williams), and the other is going to be an interception machine because the 'all arm' throws he's making in college won't cut it in the NFL (Maye). Surprisingly, Patriots fans still haven't learned what made Brady great...it wasn't the measurables and supreme athlecism. He was a leader that welcomed the heat and consistently got better at his job, which made people follow him.

Why is no one talking about Williams demanding partial ownership of the team who drafts him and declaring he’ll only play for 5-6 specific franchises? I was out on this guy long before he cried to his mother in the stands. Please spare me the adolescent “that’s a good business move” take. Can’t compare Texans to pats when it comes to drafting a qb at #1. Texans got Stroud weapons. You know, you can have the absolute best quarterback in the NFL, but if you have crap receivers, and/or you have a crap offensive line, focusing on a new quarterback every year is pointless.
