Great videos you make. Just love how you share your knowledge. I simply LOVE persian rugs. My family find them too coloured, too busy pattern and the list goes on. I love them and I am so fascinated by the workmanship, the design and the touch of the wool. No other artwork can compare. I look at my rugs every day, and they make me smile and send an appreciative thought to the weaver who made it.

Ok. You spend 2/3 the video talk about the history and stories behind them, but I'm more interested in functionality and performance. Are Persian rugs more durable? Do they last longer? Is the weave superior for a specific reason? You mention the care that goes into every knot, but what about machine-made rugs? Don’t they also focus on precision and detail in every knot? Also regarding dies and fibres, dyes and fibers, couldn’t natural dyes and fibers be used in machine-made rugs as well?? Le us talk of absolute quality, what makes handmade rugs better? is it the weave pattern? Is the hand-made stich truly impossible to replicate with machines? And if it is non-replicable, does it actually result in a better rug, or is it just a way to make handmade rugs exclusive? I thought this video would answer these questions...

Greeting from west Texas, Shaun. Happy 2025. I thoroughly enjoyed your fascinating information of the ancient technique of rugmaking. I feel the ideal of regional patterns is similar to the Scottish woolen Tartan plaids and the homemade Americana quilts. A superb video. Moteshakeram.

I would have appreciated a closeup look at the back of a handmade as compared to a machine made rug, so I would know better which was which. My father was born in Isfahan (pre WW1); his mother had literally dozens of rugs, often two deep, in her house. On my father’s death my two sisters and I each got one rug, I’m pretty sure, because of their age, that they are hand made. My rug’s condition isn’t good but I appreciate it none the less, because of its family connection as well as its. beauty.

Not sure, if anyone has asked this, but would like to know if you get machine made rugs that are made from natural fibers, like cotton for example?

The problem is that they're just not all that attractive.
