5th and 6th season of Moesha are hard to watch. I pick and choose the episodes to watch from that. Making Ray J a cast member was a terrible decision. There is so many storylines they could have done. They completely abandoned the baby storyline, they could gave Myles a chance to progress as he was getting older, explore marriage and love more and progress Moesha entering college. I definitely agree with the point that Sheryl would’ve been at guiding Beyoncé bc the movie didn’t do deena character any favors I also felt the original cast/crew of dreamgirls wasn’t involved bc the movie wanted to capture the behind the scenes drama of the supremes than be a faithful adaption to the original Broadway musical

Thanks for sharing this story. Sheryl Lee Ralph has a lot to be thankful for through all the hardships. She had been around for a long time and she still looks great. There's ups and there's downs and I'm glad she was able to express some of the disappointments. I still consider her truly blessed for being able to follow some of the things that she wanted to do. Glad she was able to make amends with Brandy as well as others. She definitely left a mark in so many different ways and although she was going through a lot on Moesha she played her part well as a stepmother.

Sheryl Lee Ralph never got the respect she deserved. The magnitude and class that she has seemed to be overlooked and not appreciated. The direction the show was heading in the last seasons was less than satisfactory. Sheryl left with her dignity and integrity that none of the cast members or crew could take away from her.

I get why Sheryl hated the Frank and Dorian subplot. Granted, Frank and Moesha's mom were strained at the time but the situation made both parties look terrible with their respective choices. Frank for not waiting for a divorce before getting with another woman along with being a upright coward for not stepping up for Dorian's sake. You don't choose spouses over the well-being of your kids. This brings us to Moesha's mom; the situation just makes her look extremely petty and selfish for making a Frank choose between her and a baby. Yes, Dorian's a "side-baby" but it's just cruel to have a father forsake his kid like that. Basically punishing Dorian for sometheing that wasn't even his fault. I don't think I can live with myself knowing that I took a child away from its father. Even if the said child is a reminder of my husband's infidelity.
@Aurora05102 жыл бұрын
Another problem is this is exactly how the other children are treated. See Joe Jackson’s daughter Joh’Vonnie. Katherine wanted nothing to do with it. Rebbie was kind and treated her with respect but the others don’t fool with her at ALL.
@josephclegg35622 жыл бұрын
The producers should have brought Dorian in at the beginning and let him been Frank's and Marguerites son from the start or should have let him stayed Frank's nephew. Changing Frank's fatherly image completely ruined the show.
@jc_802 жыл бұрын
Then if you really love your child as a man you would never ever have side babies whilst married, plus with some men divorce means they leave the family home and children for another woman so either way the children in the home and the side babies will be destroyed and experience trauma because their parents couldn’t control themselves

There is some context left out of this though. Although Brandy was wrong, remember the time. During the fourth-fifth seasons of 'Moesha', she was overworked. She was bouncing from shooting film to film (Cinderella, I Still Know what You Did Last Summer, Double Platinum), doing endorsement deals, and going on tour to support her 2nd album when she wasn't filming "Moesha", and all at just 19/20 years old. She started having an eating disorder at the time, rarely eating and started looking frail and rail thin. She ended up collapsing on the set from dehydration & exhaustion in November 1999 & was rushed to the hospital. This caused her to take a hiatus from anything outside of "Moesha" for the next year & a half, at the request of her mother/manager Sonya. Not making excuses for her, but I think this is why she was irritable & cranky towards Sheryl Lee at the time and made things unhappy on set.

This brought tears to my eyes. The entertainment industry has No chill...but to do the right thing, and be shunned for it is HARD on anyone. At work, and at home. I'm glad she stayed true to who she was, kids should know better about being respectful - but if they are allowed to, not to mention if they are responsible for your paycheck somehow - the will not only be allowed, but supported. When she got the apologies YEARS later - I know it's better late than never, I just hope it lifted some of the pain from the past she'd experienced. Beautiful Woman, Mother and Wife!

I think that when they added the story line of Frank's secret baby, and then bought Brandy's brother on the show, and they made the storylines about Dorian too much. This was a great a show, when it was about the Mitchell family. It was called Moesha. They turned it into something completely different. It became about Franks secret love child, and Dorian's behavior and mess. That show was so positive, and then they changed it for the worst. The same thing was done with Good Times. It was a 2 parent household. And they killed off the father. And had the mother leave her family in the projects to be with her new husband. Then bought in these convuluted characters and unnecessary story lines, and when Moesha did the same thing the show jumped the shark.
