What happened to him is that he fell on hard times like many actors do. He could not find steady work after his stint on girlfriends and fell into financial ruin. Girlfriends broke all kind of records and barriers. It was much more than just a black sitcom. It’s funny how Sex in the city can have a successful run, two big screen movies and a revival. We know for a fact the production cost of sex in the city versus girlfriends is way more expensive. The reboot wasn’t a hit or even buzz worthy. They know how bad we want a revival of Girlfriends and how huge of a hit it will be so they continue to ignore us and play in our face.

Reggie studied theater in college. He should have went that route after Girlfriends ended. He could have done Broadway or Off-Broadway or even the chitlin' circuit. The chitlin' circuit kept a lot of Black actors employed. I can see him as a dad on a Disney show.

This was so sad. I truly feel for Reggie. I can understand his upbringing and how it played a part in his depression and lack of self-worth as an adult. I'm so glad he never gave up on life and pushed through! Feeling like a non-factor AND losing both of your parents on top of that at a young age would be enough to send many people over the edge. 😢 I loved him on Girlfriends! I actually thought he was a cute guy and you could always tell he was a gentle and kind-hearted person in real life. I'd love to meet him someday and I hope his job prospects and health only improve from here on out! Depression and not having a sense of belonging will easily put major weight on a person and eventually lead to major health complications if things don't turn around after multiple years.

Girlfriends was and still is a very significant show. I remember that first episode and I was a die hard fan until season 6. Season 7 & 8 weren't for me, but it was ahead of its time. William was there for all of them and was such an amazing guy. I still love you Reggie Hayes and there isn't a moment that goes by where I don't remember some joke from you William: "Now, look woman! Don't get mad at me just because you're losing Isaiah" Tony: *Gasps* "William! You're not supposed to say that to me" Persia White and Tracee Ellis Ross did an amazing job and were able to highlight some issues concerning biracial individuals. However, they were able to discuss a lot of content that's still relevant within Black communities today.

Yeah, I only watched “Girlfriends” on occasion, but when I did, I enjoyed it . What I can’t understand is why everyone is complaining about it not getting picked up again. 8 seasons is idea and fairly successful. It couldn’t last forever.

@@CodyCole80 I agree with you completely. I think most people are just irritated because the show didn’t have a traditional season finale. They tried really hard to sell The Game as a spin off, but it’s not. As a die hard Girlfriends fan - we went 6 solid seasons without Joan mentioning siblings and or relatives “she had an estranged relationship with both of her parents” where the heck does Melanie come from? 🤣🤣🤣 I’m creative enough and have plotted my own finale for myself, but most viewers are still upset. Just like with That’s So Raven - we never got a proper finale. Living Single - no proper finale and the list goes on…

William was one of the only redeemable characters on that show 😂 He really made that character so lovable. It’s a shame he didn’t get picked up for larger roles after, but part of it feels like the girls had to wait a while for their next break too.

It would have been nice if they could have done a "Girlfriends" reboot bringing back all the characters. I'm so sorry things didn't work out for William after the show ended. I thought for sure I would see him appearing in other shows. He was that funny kind of guy.
