In Kirk’s first year with the Vikings, Stefon Diggs had his first season of 1,000 receiving yards (plus his second season). Also in Kirk’s first year in Minnesota, Adam Thielen is the only player in NFL history to start a season with the most consecutive games with 100+ receiving yards. And with Kirk as their quarterback, Diggs and Thielen gave the Vikings their first pair of 1,000+ yard receivers since Randy Moss and Cris Carter in 2000. And after Justin Jefferson got hurt, Kirk turned Jordan Addison into an immediate starter as he would have easily had a 1000+ yards had Kirk not gotten hurt. Kirk is one of those quarterbacks that’s gonna put in that extra work to build that chemistry as soon as he can, too.

Kirk is a great fit in Atlanta. He's deadly accurate and knows how to read defenses. With the skill players and Oline in Atlanta and their improved defense if they land an Edge Rusher they could take the NFC or at the very least win at least 1 playoff game which is a huge step forward for this organization

Vikings fan here. Cousins is better than QB10 in the NFL. He has put up all those quality stats you talked about without an o-line and taking a beating every game. He had MVP stats with a slightly improved o-line the first half of last year. You didn't get a good quarterback you got a great one. Fun fact - since 1947 only 17 quarterbacks who have played at least 8 seasons have been higher above the league average in their own era than Kirk.

A rare Vikings fan that appreciated what Kirk did for that franchise. You are an intelligent football fan unlike so many Vikings fans that seem to have amnesia when they remember the seasons before he came there. The dude's the best quarterback all time in their history and every year the fans acted like every loss was his fault. And constantly talking about only having one playoff win. Like the dude played defense, called plays, made all of the front office decisions. He was only one man. One man that put up extraordinary numbers behind an offensive line that caused him to get hit on almost every pass play that they ran in the last 3 years. He's a hard worker, great teammate and leader and resilient as they come. Congratulations Falcons. If he stays healthy, it was money well spent.

Success for a quarterback can really only be measured by what they can control….their performance. They don’t play defense or kick the ball. You can’t pay a player based on wins because it’s a team sport. So if a quarterback makes 70% of his passes for 425 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INTs, 0 sacks, 124 passer rating, but the game was close and the team loses the game because of a missed field goal, that’s really not fair to blame the quarterback for the loss. Even Mahomes said it's hard to get wins. Kirk gets paid like he does because of his performance. Bridge / back-up / not good quarterbacks don’t get paid the big bucks because their individual performance is not great. Kirk throws 4000+ yards and 25+ TDs every season like clockwork. His career passer rating is 98.2. which is the 8th highest passer rating in NFL history…in NFL history. He’s 5th all-time in completion percentage. His passing yards per game also ranks 10th all-time in the history of the NFL. The wins haven't been there because he' had bad defenses for most of his career. Those QBs that win a lot have top 10 offenses and top defenses every season and great coaching.
@Paula-mv8im6 ай бұрын
@@giamarshall6323 Fields is simply not accurate. He often misfired on slant and screen passes, resulting in many incompletions and missed yards after catch opportunities. As bad as the Bears receivers were at creating separation, Fields was equally bad at throwing to them. There were numerous instances of receivers getting open only to have Fields hesitate. There's a reason the Bears are probably gonna get rid of him or he gets demoted to a back-up QB. Meanwhile....Kirk is one of the most accurate quarterbacks and is one of the best deep ball passers in the league, is clutch, can make all of the throws and throws his receivers open. If given time (actual pass protection), he can carve up any defense (ex. beat the 49ers, a Super Bowl team).

@jimquast8186 - Kirk Cousins is blessed. That is clear. He has had incredible luck with his contracts. It's team game dude. He was also on a bad Washington team . Win-loss records are about the dumbest way to judge a QB's performance. People place way too much blame on quarterbacks for losses. Football is the ultimate team sport. Just because the team lost doesn't always mean the quarterback was playing bad. So if a quarterback makes 70% of his passes for 425 yards, 4 TDs, 0 INTs, 0 sacks, 124 passer rating, but the game was close and the team loses the game because of a missed field goal,….must mean that the quarterback was just awful. Does that make any sense? No, it does not. Even Mahomes said it's hard to get wins. Kirk has played well in the playoffs. His defenses have not.

@Paula-mv8im6 ай бұрын
Average / below average quarterbacks don't lead their teams back from a 33 point deficit. Hmm...you think having one of the worst defenses for most of his time in Minnesota? Don't forget about Zimmer.....his job as head coach was to get the most out of his quarterback. Instead, he undercut his play in coaching meetings and didn’t build around him. He fired his OC every year, he had terrible clock management, had conservative and predictable play calling (run, run, run, pass), was 32nd out of 32 teams in situational football, and had an outdated and prevent style defense that gave up more points in the final 2 minutes of each half than any team in history. He thought the best way to win was by building hard-hitting and punishing defenses that can shut opponents down. That failed miserably. Instead of his defense staying elite, it got worse every year and dropped to 13th to 18th to 27th to 30th. No quarterback is gonna win games when you have bad coaching and one of the worst defenses for most of Kirk’s time with the Vikings. The ONE year that Minnesota had a mediocre defense was 2019 and they went to the playoffs. But because of that mediocre defense AND bad coaching they didn't get far. His career passer rating is 98.2. which is the 8th highest passer rating in NFL history…in NFL history. He’s 5th all-time in completion percentage. His passing yards per game also ranks 10th all-time in the history of the NFL.

@@samuelsheff1007 this is the same franchise that did not want to "overpay" for Lamar last year due to "injury concerns from his playstyle". But they give 100m guaranteed to a 36 year old coming off an Achilles injury. Make it make sense.

@@Tariq-vn5oc This is Kirk's first time missing a game due an injury....in 12 seasons. Jackson won MVP and didn't lead in any of the QB categories (TDs, passing yards, etc). The receiver who had the most yards was under 900 yards. Jackson is a running back who can throw the ball. Meanwhile...Kirk is one of the most accurate quarterbacks and is one of the best deep ball passers in the league, is clutch, can make all of the throws and throws his receivers open. If given time (actual pass protection), he can carve up any defense (ex. beat the 49ers, a Super Bowl team).

Why would I pay good money to go to a Falcons game to see this crap? Minnesota gave up on him for a reason !
@Paula-mv8im5 ай бұрын
The Vikings also never built around their quarterback (like every other successful franchise does), haven't drafted well, neglected the o-line for years, had bad defenses for most of Kirk's time there, and kept a coach (Zimmer) for way too long and after he created a toxic culture. Add to that, the GM would rather give big contracts / long term deals to everyone but the most important position...the quarterback.

How is it that Baker is being hated on for 3x100, when Kirk (I pad my stats with high % checkdowns) gets 4x180 and its praised?? Baker will lead Tampa back to the playoffs and win.
@Paula-mv8im6 ай бұрын
Because Baker is overrated and had ONE good season. Until he can put up consecutive, successful seasons and be consistent (like Kirk), he'll be overpaid. Kirk has one of the lowest checkdown rates in the league. The Vikings haven't had any garbage time games for years.

He was with Washington for 6 seasons (three seasons as a starting quarterback) and 6 years as the starting QB for the Vikings. That's the very opposite of a journeyman quarterback. Kirk is 1-3 in the playoffs as a starter, btw.
